Small Ensemble Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890705 Composed by John Pitts. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 21 pages. Intensely Pleasant Music #3424699. Published by Intensely Pleasant Music (A0.890705). Are you going? (1997) triet 5 minutes This is somewhat minimalistic, and polyphonic between the three players. It includes a number of sections in which the tempo of one of the pianists gradually speeds up or slows down while the others keep a steady pulse. Like Raag Gezellig it is in 7 beats per bar, but unlike Raag Gezellig it is fast throughout. The theme is the English folk-melody Are you going to Scarborough Fair. A studio recording (performed by Steven Kings, Daniella Acker and John Pitts) is available from Hyperion/1equalmusic www.hyperion-records.co.uk/dc.asp?dc=D_1EMIPM08 The first concert performance was at the Kiev Chamber Music Session Festival 2010 by the Kiev Piano Duo (Oleksandra Zaytseva & Dmytro Tavanets) with Antoniy Baryshevkiy. https://youtu.be/yDWgfjI3qPchttps://youtu.be/nQYEiDX0Jj0

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Multi-Percussion,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.816703 Composed by Guy Bunce. Contemporary. Score and parts. 11 pages. Enigma Music #4984881. Published by Enigma Music (A0.816703). Entrainment (2009)Written for New NoiseOboe & PercussionEntrainment is the process by which two oscillating systems, which have different periods when they function independently, assume the same period when interacting. The principle of entrainment is universal, appearing in chemistry, pharmacology, biology, medicine, psychology, sociology, astronomy, architecture to name but a few. This piece explores the entrainment of tempo with two initially diverse tempo structures synchronising after a period of four minutes. At the start of the score the oboe begins at 137 bpm and the percussionist at 63 bpm. Over the course of the four minutes the percussionist speeds up whilst the oboist slows down resulting in the tempi synchronising at four minutes. After four minutes the two instruments begin a discourse in unison (rhythmically, melodically, and dynamically): the musical equivalent of total synchronisation. In the final section of the piece the parts diverge with the percussionist slowing down and the oboe part maintaining its speed. As with many of my pieces, the starting point for Entrainment was an external source, in this case the song Time by Pink Floyd. The rhythmic lines throughout Entrainment are based on the rhythm to the bass line of the first part of Time. This can be clearly seen in the opening in which the oboe part employs this rhythm.Harmonically Entrainment consists of a series of key centres whose period is determined by points within the four minutes where either of the two independent parts briefly synchronise at the semiquaver level with the unit of a second. At each of these points (which become more frequent as the piece progresses), the harmonic centre changes. The harmonic centres relate directly to the chord structure of Pink Floyd's Time: at each point where either part synchronises with seconds the harmonic centre in both parts moves one chord through Time's chord sequence. At 2' 19'' the percussion and oboe part synchronise (albeit briefly) for the first time. This event was used to mark the start of more polytonal harmony as both instruments from this point forward begin their own cycles through the Time chords. Throughout the piece, points of synchronisation are highlighted musically.Performance mp3 recordings that contain a dual click track for the first four minutes of the piece can be obtained by contacting guybunce@hotmail.com. The click track is arranged so that the oboe click is on the left channel and the percussion click is on the right. An alternative click track (track 3) is also provided using a different sound (a beep). The performers should wear the headphone in one ear which corresponds to the track of their part. The dual click track can then be played on a single CD player (or mp3 player) with the output going to both sets of headphones using a headphone splitter or other device. Alternatively, files can be put on either two iPods or Mp3 players. The players will then have to synchronize the beginnings of each track. It is possible to play the piece without the use of the click track(s). If this is the case, performers should use the metronome markings and general layout of the score to aid performance. It is advisable that one player (possibly the oboist) sets the tempo and tempo changes, and the other player follows. It was not always possible to represent accurately the relationship between the two parts in the score. Arrows have been added on the score to show points of synchronisation where the score layout differs.

Broadway,Contemporary,Jazz. 3 pages. William R Taylor #6475595. Published by William R Taylor (A0.1022084). Release ©2006, lyrics©2010. Bill’s mom Priscilla Alden Taylor (nee Rowe) passed on at age 90 in January, 2010. This piece was one she loved, but the words did not come until 2 months after her death and 2 days before Jaye and I were to perform Mom’s song Every Time We Meet at the Anderson Valley Variety Show. We sung it as best we could with so little practice time and in a key way too high. This version is transposed down a fifth. Listeners with parents who have gone on, and those who haven’t, may find some familiar themes here. If inspired, support your local elder and/or hospice organizations. I love my children to be happy. What’s new with you Mom? Charlotte’s got a bakery. Hannah is teaching, playing in San Jose. Tom and Jeanne expecting, he’s flying a new plane. Lucy’s kids are doing well, I’m seeing Uncle Jay. My life is going on in a most pleasant way. When are you coming here to visit, it’s been way too long? When we were children everything was made into a song. Father’s jazzy flute, brother’s boogie woogie She left Julliard to help her family Factory in the war, music she wrote A job at Schirmers she met my Dad had 5 kids Trips to Vermont and Jersey and New York Kept house, school lunch, kind words, praising Now she is running and swimming Dancing and flying, she’s singing All new adventures, new worlds to learn and know Earth body left behind, all life is love and flow Walker made her so tired, shuffling oh so slow She learned to ask for help from all of us below Gathered her children all around her at her time to go Now she’s with her God.

Large Ensemble Flute,Guitar,Mandolin,Oboe,Piano,Ukulele,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1013008 Composed by Na-Mara. Celtic,Folk,World. Score and parts. 1 pages. Na-Mara #5778603. Published by Na-Mara (A0.1013008). Canberra Bourrée: this tune is one of a number of self-penned folk tunes by the UK based folk duo Na-Mara and is written in the style of a French Bourrée. Written in the key of Dm, Canberra Bourrée can be played on mandolin or on any C clef instrument (violin, ukulele, flute etc), with the guitar chords accompanying the individual player. Performance tips: this is beginner / intermediate level piece and played at a moderate speed. It’s quite nice to make a long pause on the second time bar before going back to the A section, and to make a feature of this, and also to slow it down towards the very end. The guitar accompaniment can be played with broken chords, or arpeggio style. When we play this tune live we play it as the middle tune of a three-part set, starting with our arrangement of the An Dro, and finishing the set with our arrangement of the Galician Muiñeira, Muiñeira de Boal. Na-Mara (Rob Garcia and Paul McNamara) perform this instrumental piece on mandolin or octave mandola, with guitar accompaniment. They have also used it alongside other tunes in workshops as a teaching and learning resource, introducing players to tunes from different parts of the Celtic world.Recordings of this and other tunes on SMP can be found on Na-Mara’s albums ‘Sisters & Brothers’, ‘Navajos & Pirates’ and ‘The Bite’Na-Mara have built an enviable reputation for fine story-telling and musicianship. They have performed in venues and festivals in the UK, Europe and China, and on BBC Radio 4, and a plethora of internet and local radio stations. They have consistently delivered new and exciting material to audiences. This includes their own take on traditional tunes from Brittany, France, Ireland, and the Spanish Celtic regions of Asturias and Galicia.Rob Garcia: mandolin, octave mandola, classical guitar & backing vocalsPaul McNamara: guitar & lead vocalsWeb site: http://www.na-mara.com/

Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.879895 By Justin Cody. By Justin Cody. Arranged by Justin Cody. Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Individual part. 7 pages. Justin Cody #486261. Published by Justin Cody (A0.879895). When I began writing Breathe, I was really learning how to connect my breath to movement while practicing Yoga with Adrienne's 30-day yoga journey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpWa4LtKe4c) I was fascinated by how she seemingly slowed the world down for me by asking me to focus on the in and out breath while going through the movements. I was drawn to this meditative practice and was compelled to put this into practice at the piano. I've always been into connecting breath to music, but this was in a different more intentional way. I've always felt that pianists should have more training on connecting their breath to playing. It's too easy for pianists to miss the connection between playing and breath. So I sat down one day and just had this idea of creating a technical exercise for the pianist where not only is the music notated but the breath as well in a way that teaches you how to use your breathe to enhance the music you are playing.

Brass Ensemble,Trombone Quartet Bass Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.781981 By Burt Bacharach. By Burt Bacharach. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 20th Century,Contemporary,Film/TV,Jazz,Pop. Score and parts. 8 pages. Aaron Hettinga #6026421. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.781981). Not Going Home Anymore is one of the gorgeous pieces from Burt Bacharach’s score for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. While it should be played as a slow waltz, it’s important not to drag it too slowly. There is ample opportunity to take advantage of suspended chords in the accompaniment throughout.Instrumentation: This piece is presented here in an arrangement for Trombone Quartet or Trombone Choir. Alternatively, any of the parts could be played by Euphoniums/Baritones, or the Bass Trombone line would work well on Tuba as well.Performance notes: This arrangement will feature the melodic/legato ballad abilities as well as the range of the 1st trombonist. The remaining parts are not too difficult for most players, but the lead will need to be a solid player. A demo recording (recorded ½ step higher in pitch) is available here: https://youtu.be/BFBIX548Fbs.

Score and parts. 21 pages. Liz Nedela #5801577. Published by Liz Nedela (A0.938013). Variations on the Pentatonic; One Piano Four Hands. Using several pentatonic scales, the three movements (two are short, one is long) of this piece have many moods, as the title implies! l. Melody on the Miyako-bushi is slow and dreamy (altho, some pianists like to play it fast and dreamy).2.The Chase on the Man Gong is fast, as the primo and secondo chase each other! 3. Variations on the Blues Minor is the longest movement and has a lot going on with tempo changes, running up and town the piano, displacing accents, a dreamy Adagio, Allegro contrasts; and rhythmic motives and jazz harmonies get tossed back and forth in Primo and Secondo. This was a commission for the WSMTA Composer of the Year 2014; and it has a counterpart: the piano solo written for the Intermediate composers of WSMTA, which is listed elsewhere in this catalog.Have fun with this piece! -- while you learn about pentatonic scales in a very different way!

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797833 By Michael Jackson. By Walter Scharf. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop. Score and parts. 12 pages. Derek Hasted #6514437. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797833). BEN (MICHAEL JACKSON) - 3 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes If there was one piece of music that showed the true extent of Michael Jackson’s musical prowess, it would surely be Ben, sung faultlessly and with great maturity at such a tender age.My arrangement for 3 guitars is in E. The original was in F, and you can, of course, fit a capo on fret 1 to play in the original key if you want. The choice of E gives a lovely rich sound with plenty of sustain, ideal for such a slow and tender piece.Much of the piece can be played in first and second positions, though the tone will be all the nicer if the music is taken up the neck. The use of B# and Fx may mean the music looks alien at first, but it’s under the fingers and the use of Fx rather than G, for example, gives the music the proper shape on the page. This arrangement is also ideal for a large ensemble. Whether you perform it on three guitars or in a large group, it will make a wonderfully haunting and moving sound that an audience will most certainly enjoy.I also have a separate version for two guitars which is a little more complex. Find it by going to my website (below)I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Unusually for the time, Vivaldi published the concerti with accompanying poems (possibly written by Vivaldi himself) that elucidated what it was about those seasons that his music was intended to evoke. This movement is illustrated textually in a sonnet with the following description:Standing quietly and contentedly by the fireWhile outside the rain bathes everything;Walk on the ice with slow stepFor fear of falling in the attempt. To feel when going out through the stinging door,Sirocco, Borea, and all the winds at war; That this is winter, but such, that joy door.

2(2.pic).2.2.1.cbsn-2.2.0.0-timp-hp.cel-str violin and orchestra - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q42526 Fur Violine und Orchester. Composed by Ryan Wigglesworth. This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 16 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q42526. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q42526). My Violin Concerto is scored for a Classical-sized orchestra, with the addition of a harp and celeste, and lasts around 17 minutes. Although the work sets out to explore the lyrical characteristics of the solo instrument, it is only gradually that the violin finds its full, lyric voice, and thence, as the work progresses, a more dominant role. This, in one sense, is the ‘journey’ of the piece. The work’s straightforward formal scheme consists of three movements (roughly fast–slow–fast) framed by a reflective introduction and epilogue. However, these formal divisions exist within a single, unbroken arc. Such an overall symmetrical shape places the slow Arioso (itself divided into three subsections) at the midpoint, sandwiched between the two Allegro movements. The dramaturgy of the piece centres on a twofold search. First there is the ongoing pursuit to ‘recapture’ the simple melodic material stated by the solo violin – accompanied by the harp’s bass register – during the opening bars. Whilst aspects of this melody are invoked frequently throughout (especially in the violin cadenza which closes the Arioso movement), it is only with the final and most important climax of the work that the melody appears again in its complete form, now accompanied by violent, orchestral stabs. The second search is for a tonal resting place, the arrival of which is delayed until the close of the epilogue. The original version of the Violin Concerto, commissioned by the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, was premiered in Amsterdam in February 2012 with Gordan Nikolic as soloist. The present, revised version was created for Barnabás Kelemen and the Hallé. The piece is dedicated, with admiration, to my friend Oliver Knussen. (Ryan Wigglesworth).

Published by Will Savage (A0.1350163). 'Turn of the Tide' - to reverse the general course of events.Turn of the Tide is about an on-going war in a land far away. One of the last remaining tribes in the human race is losing a great battle and they are slowly, but surely becoming extinct. In a sudden change of events, the opposing tribe dies of an unknown disease, and the music unusually lifts at this point, from C Minor to G major. The Tribe then discovers the damage that the world has been left in. We descend back to C Minor from a big climax as the once cheerful tribe all breathe their last breath. There is no more population on planet earth.Instrumentation:Solo Flugelhorn (Instrument in Bb)+ Piano Accompanimentsavagesmusic.com/turn-of-the-tide

Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719761 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. 8 pages. Curtis Hanson #6069327. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719761). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include He Leadeth Me, Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us, and O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee. This collection of arrangements is also available for SATB voices and piano or piano solo.

Baritone Horn TC,Euphonium,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552860 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 16 pages. Jmsgu3 #3516929. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552860). Duration: ca 5:20, Score: 8 pages, solo part: 3 pages, piano part: 4 pages. One of Beethoven's finest and most famous works. Program for a recital, church meditation or school program. Bring your best espressivo and plan to rehearse the many subtle dynamic changes.Sonata Pathétique Op. 13 First of all, this is an arrangement of the second movement of Beethoven’s Sonata Pathétique. It seems like Beethoven wrote this piece before becoming troubled by deafness. Published in 1799, it consequently remains one of the most celebrated pieces Beethoven ever wrote. As a result of its popularity, the movement was therefore performed by Karl Haas. Hass recorded it for a popular radio show called: Adventures in Good Music. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna for the rest of his life. In his late 20s, it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently, he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies, therefore, belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony, he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano.

Piano Trio,String Ensemble Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.915903 Composed by Judy Lane. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 7 pages. Judy Lane Music #6461563. Published by Judy Lane Music (A0.915903). By The River - May Morning This is an instrumental piece for Piano and 2 Violins and is a sequel to 'The Willow Tree' also by Judy Lane. The reborn willow tree arrives on a river bank in Oxford and experiences all the special celebrations that May Morning brings: The choir, the bells, the singing and the folk dancing. Approximately 4 minutes and a delightful piece to play.Goodness me! Where am I now? The sun is just rising and there is a slight mist in the air. I must be by a river. There are strange boats floating by, propelled by long poles. All on board are laughing, drinking and singing at the tops of their voices. I see a tall tower and on the top are small boys dressed in strange white dresses. They are singing wonderful songs. .Now bells are ringing and I hear cheering and music that keeps going all day long until tiredness slowly brings the fun to an end. The moon is rising and the world sleeps again. .I like my new home. Goodnight!
