It is based on a Chinese ancient melody called 梅花三弄.On October 20, 2023 I woke up early in the morning around 5:00 am, and I was thinking what gift could I present to my wife for her birthday near the end of October? Strangely, I got a melody in my ear, which is a song that I practiced with my Chinese violin when I was a high school boy about 66 years ago in 1957, named 梅花三弄, and  this year I am 86 alreay. Thanks to my gene which provided with me a good long memory that I could still remember most parts of the melody of that song, and fortunately, that I have not got the Alzheimer's disease, so that it permits me to arrange that song to form a nice new song, which I call it Cherry Blossom in Three Days. Then, I used that song to make a video presenting to my wife Catherine as a special birthday card. In 2009, my wife was sitting in the doctors office waiting to hear the results of my scan. It was a nice September day, the sun was shinning. The doctor came in shared those awful three words with us: You have cancer My mind went back about 25 years ago to a song I had written entitled: The higher the Mountain the better the view. The lines kept running through my mind. And my view was getting better all the time as by 2014 I had two cancers plus a return of the first cancer. Because of my troubles and the fact that God had lead me through the Valley of Cancer, I asked my friend, Randy Duck to record the song. We used the famous quartet, The Singing Ambassadors to do the back up vocals. Realizing that everyone has a mountain, it is our prayer that encouragement and hope be found in this message.

These parts are included with the choral score.Above all, it's fairly easy to learn and fun to sing!The clarinet and trombone parts are a lot of fun and the trumpet part features an easily playable/adaptable ending that nails the piece (actually the lower version is really nice). This Concerto in C Major for flautino RV443 dates from1728-29. It was probably composed for the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, the convent/orphanage with which he was affiliated.. The girls of the Pietà were famous throughout Europe for their musical performances. . Since the term “flautino” was not generally used in Vivaldi’s day, scholars have speculated ever since about what instrument Vivaldi had in mind. The leading candidate is the sopranino recorder. However, later in the 18th century the transverse flute replaced the recorder in general use, and a new edition of RV 443 was published for the piccolo, a member of the flute family.There are several passages with only the bass line accompanying, and no figures, so I have realised some of these. Some of the accompaniment rhythm patterns, originally for strings, seem too heavy-footed on clarinets, so I have made a few tiny modifications in them. The cadenza, all the articulations and dynamics are mine. 9 minutes if the soloist is very agile.

Mycousin, Ed Searl, was studying voice with Novie Greene at the time, and it was through him that I made her acquaintance. The three of us thought that it would be nice to have something which we could all perform together, and so Novie began working on these charming settings. We premiered these pieces at a Bach's Lunch Concert at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando on 28 April 1983. I have performed them since then as a set and also done St. Patrick's Breastplate several times for church services. The hymn is frequently used during confirmation or baptis1n ceremonies. The text is a translation of a Gaelic prayer done in 1889 by Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895), the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Derry and Raphoe. She also wrote the text for the hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful. The tune chosen by Novie Greene, sometimes known as St. Patrick, is by the Irish composer Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924), who wrote it in 1902. Stanford is best remembered today for his work as a professor of composition at the Royal College of Music. His students there included Frank Bridge, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Thomas Dunhill, Gustav Holst, Herbert Howells, Willian1 Yeates Hurlstone, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. ~Bruce Gbur.
