Trumpeta Ole is an original piece, written for 4 trumpets and percussion. It has a definite Spanish, Toreador feel to it which should appeal to audiences of all ages. Very playable as a recital, concert or contest piece, the piece is as fun to play as it is to listen to. There is an alternate ending for eight trumpets which is tailer- made for a band trumpet section. Trumpeta Ole is also effective for pep bands. It is very playable by any high school/college trumpet player. The percussion include Tympani, Snare Drum and Bass Drum. Published by James Haynor (A0.782181). Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi was an Italian opera composer. Verdi was born near Busseto to a provincial family of moderate means, and developed a musical education with the help of a local patron. Verdi completed his Requiem Mass in April 1874 and conducted the first performance on May 22, 1874, at the church of San Marco in Milan. Viva la Verdi is a medley of Greatest Hits from the Requiem. The instrumentation consists of double brass quintet plus timpani and bass drum. ( Flugelhorn is preferred for the first trumpet’s solo.) It would be an ambitious undertaking for an excellent college or professional group but the rewards are many. This is a beautiful piece of music and the power of the brass ensemble is needed to convey both the intensity and peace of the Requiem Mass. Duration: 9:25

This arrangement includes his Pilgrim’s Chorus ( Lohengrin ), Opening to Act Three ( Lohengrin ), Finale ( Tristan and Isolde ), Selections ( The Flying Dutchman ), Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral ( Lohengrin ) and The Ride of the Valkyries ( The Valkyries ). These selections offer musicians, particularly brass players, the chance to sample some of Wagner’s greatest music. Beauty and power take equal stage as the arrangement presents Wagner’s brilliance as a composer. The selections are transitioned to provide a smooth flow between the ups and downs of emotion. Viva La Wagner! is playable by itermediate/advanced players and is a rousing addition to any concert. Published by James Haynor (A0.782215). William Byrd (birth date variously given as c.1539/40 or 1543 – 4 July 1623), was an English composer of the Renaissance. He wrote in many of the forms current in England at the time, including various types of sacred and secular polyphony, keyboard (the so-called Virginalist school), and consort music. Although he produced sacred music for Anglican services, sometime during the 1570s he became a Roman Catholic and wrote Catholic sacred music later in his life. Ave Verum Corpus written for four voices is a great example of his work and transcribes well for brass quartet. Scored here for flugelhorns, trumpets may certainly be used. ( Duration 3:30 )
