Level 3 - SKU: A0.1488249 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Alberto Mandarini. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Historic,Instructional. 19 pages. Alm@music #1065126. Published by Alm@music (A0.1488249). I transcribed Contrapunctus I from the Art of Fugue by Johann Sebastian Bach, faithfully respecting the work of the Great Maestro, intervening only to distribute the voices when impracticable by the individual instruments and to give some breathing space to the various performers. In fact, from 4 parts, I obtained 5 using a small doubling only in the final part. The choice to use 3 trumpets and 2 trombones, and not the more typical brass quintet (2 trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba), was dictated by the lineup I had available at the time I made the transcription. Luckily, the second trombone part fits perfectly with the original fourth voice (…except for one very brief point…).However, in the future, I don't rule out creating a version for the standard quintet too!On a didactic level, the choice of this piece was certainly ambitious, but the extraordinary thing is that through Bach's music (!!!) it was possible to address an enormous amount of musical nuances. This immediately fascinated my students, both young and old, who did not hesitate to get involved with all their strength and I must say that, at the end of the study path, each of them achieved a clear improvement both technically and, above all, expressive. But then it's no surprise, Bach's music is always extraordinary and surprising! The structure of the transcription is therefore the original one and the duration is around 2 minutes and 45 seconds. To the expected parts I also added that of the horn in F, replacing the 3rd trumpet. At your discretion, of course, decide whether to replace it or double it directly. Also in this case, the audio is made with the synthetic sounds of midi, therefore not particularly captivating, but it should still be useful for getting an idea of the arrangement and for studying the individual parts.Good music!am.

Small Ensemble B-Flat Bass Clarinet,Vibraphone,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - SKU: A0.869184 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. With II. 45 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #30961. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869184). Program note. When Stefan Hakenberg and Jocelyn Clark asked me to write a piece for their 2001 Cross Sound concert season in Alaska, I immediately wanted to write a piece with the title, I've Got the Munchies. Music inspired by the visual art is not something new. Mussorgsky composed his infamous Pictures at an Exhibition after viewing a memorial exhibition of paintings and drawings by Victor Alexandrovich Hartmann. Gunther Schuller, my teacher and mentor, composed one of his most memorable orchestral pieces entitled, Six Studies on Themes by Paul Klee. In 1997 I wrote a chamber work inspired by the paintings of Pablo Picasso. The work, Yo Picasso, was scored for Bb clarinet, viola, cello and piano. For the Munchies I used as source material prints and paintings by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The work, scored for violin, viola, bass clarinet and vibraphone, is in six movements: I. For The Scream (1893), I used multiphonics in the bass clarinet to convey the anguish and desperation so clearly depicted in that infamous work. The multiphonics were provided to me by the bass clarinetist, Henri Bok. II. Edvard Munch was very obsessed by his work, Madonna. He made many versions of it between 1893 and 1902. I made three variations of the Madonna movement. III. Tingel-Tangel (1895) is one of his rare prints in which gloom or misery is not the theme. It depicts a stage full of dancing girls. So, I wrote some dance hall music. IV. I wrote a lullaby for The Sick Child (1896). V. The Dance of Life (1899-1900) is a strange picture. The scene is of a party, but no one seems to be happy. I wrote a demented waltz for the scene. VI. The Sun (1909-1916) is one of Munch's last paintings. It shows the rising sun over a peaceful horizon. NB: This is a transposed score. Numbers in the score next to multiphonics refer to those found in Henri Bok's book, New Techniques for the Bass Clarinet. Numbers without asterisks refer to multiphonic fingerings in Table 6; those with asterisks refer to multiphonic tremolos in Table 7.

Two Songs for Hanukah: Oh Hanukah and The Dreidel Song (I Have a Little Dreidel)Program Notes: Oh Hanukah is a popular modern English Hanukah song arranged by Phyllis Avidan Louke. This upbeat playful children's song has lyrics about dancing the Hora (a circle dance), playing with dreidels (spinning tops), eating latkes (potato pancakes), lighting the candles on a menorah, and singing songs. Oh Hanukah was written by Mordkhe (Mark) Rivesman and first published in 1912 song anthology by Susman Kiselgof. The Dreidel Song (also known as “I Have a Little Dreidel”) is a children’s Hanukah song about making and playing with a dreidel (spinning top). It is attributed to S.E. Goldfarb (for the English version) and Mikhl Gelbart for the Hebrew version. This flute choir arrangement is scored for piccolo, 3 flutes, alto flute (alternate c-flute part included), and bass flute, and optional contrabass flute. Level: 2+ to 3+ Performance Time: 4 minutesAbout the Arranger: Phyllis Avidan Louke is a flutist and award-winning composer and arranger with more than 70 published pieces to her credit. Come light the menorah.Let's have a party. We'll all dance the horah. Gather around the table, We'll give you a treat.Dreidels to play with, And latkas to eat. And while we are playing, the candles are burning low.One for each night, they shed a sweet lightTo remind us of days long ago. One for each night, they shed a sweet lightTo remind us of days long ago. The Dreidel SongI have a little dreidel, I made it out of clay,And when it's dry and ready, then dreidel I shall play. O dreidel dreidel dreidel, I made it out of clay,And when it’s dry and ready, Then dreidel I shall play. It has a lovely body with legs so short and thin,And when it is all tired, it drops and then I win. Oh, dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, With legs so short and thin. And when it is all tired, It drops and then I win.

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Horn,Oboe - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1075056 Composed by Franz Schubert/Ray Thompson. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 35 pages. RayThompsonMusic #679326. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1075056). This is an original composition by me, utilising Schubert's fragment and themes from the fragment Written for wind octet:2 ob, 2 cl, 2 hn and 2 bsn. Composed in 1813, and publised in 1889, Schubert's wind octet D72 is incomplete. The minuet and trio, and finale exist, along with a fragment of 100 bars of the first movement. The 2nd slow movement (if there was one) is missing. The fragment seems to show the end of the development, flowing into the recapitulation. I have now completed the movment, with the expostion starting in F, and 2nd theme moduating into the Dominant C major. An optional repeat has been added, the 2nd time bar has a diminshed 7th chord I have created a new deveopment section in D minor, using themes from the fragment , which then leads into the start of the fragment., which leads to the recapitualtion. This has both themes in F and brings the movement to an end The new movement is 232 bars long. Other mvts are available for quintet, octet and dectet/decet. The mp3 is the 2nd theme of the exposition. leading into the development section. I have made some light tweaks to Schubert's original work. It lasts 5 mins 2 seconds without my repeat. (About 7 mins 20 secs with) Check out my other arrangements for wind quartet, wind quintet and wind dectet.

Pagliuca-Mena. Jazz. Score and Parts. 46 pages. Soundnotation #4251133750706. Published by Soundnotation (2S.4251133750706). La Cabra Mocha (Full Score) is a Gaita de Furro. Because it belongs to the folklore of Zulia, its origin remains unclear and a dispute over the authorship of the composition currently revolves around Pradelio Hernandez and Jesus Lozano. Although its date of origin is considered equally indefinable for the same reason, its official appearance can be narrowed down to the middle of the 20th century. Probably it's much older, but due to the technological improvements of music recording, the piece became popular only later. La Cabra Mocha is a musical jewel that tells the story of a nation who has a wisdom and finds in music the way to express itself. The history of its transculturation is remarkable, although it also carries contradictions, depending on the way of representing. Sometimes its imposed stereotypes are accepted by society due to a lack of self-knowledge, which ultimately leads to a change of identity, where some elements are transfigured and others are replaced. Arranging a Gaita de Furro for youth orchestra makes sense for the following reasons: First and foremost, the self-knowledge of a society should start from the childhood and should be cultivated and carried on from generation to generation, thereby conserved. Moreover, a lack of a pedagogical act, thus a pedagogical repertoire, is one of the main causes for the ignorance of Venezuelan music. Another important aspect is the transformation or adaptation as a process of maintaining Venezuelan musical culture. Many children already present the intention of the composition by drawing their attention to the formation of the orchestra, which represents a globally unified language as a network of distribution and which is locally independent. Wherever the composition is played - each orchestra will be able to maintain the quality and expressiveness of the piece without hiding its identity. The piece opens with a fanfare introduction of the Cabra Mocha, followed by a drum roll, which reminds of the drummer's traditional reputation and introduces the theme whose chorus is represented by the tutti and its verses by the soli. The first variation consists of a two-bar rhythm and major tonality, full of wit and cunning. The following variation is an Adagio with a three-part rhythm in minor. Then the timpani return to initiate the theme, this time shortened by its Reprise, which finally leads to a polyphonic Codetta. On an interpretative level, the return of variation can be compared with the return of education and thus, to a certain extent, improvisation. This is a very striking factor of traditional music, which is represented as a fitting metaphor in the form of harmonic and rhythmic reference within the composition. Introduccion, Tema y Variaciones sobre la Cabra Mocha was composed in the last weeks of 2012 and won the first prize in the composition competition for the Youth Orchestra of Zulia, which was awarded by the Venezuelan Orchestra in its first edition in 2013. At the beginning of 2014 Silvano Pagliuca-Mena made a small revision of the piece. Silvano Antonio Pagliuca Mena was born on 10 May 1991 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Despite his Italian and Spanish roots, he has always remained true to his love for the music of his homeland, which is why his compositions always carry Venezuelan impressions, but also influences like academic western music, jazz and popular music.

Full Orchestra Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon, French Horns in F I and II, Trumpet in Bb, Trombone, Percussion, (Timpani, Glockenspiel), Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello, Double bass - Advanced - SKU: 2S.4251133750690 Composed by Silvano A. Pagliuca-Mena. Jazz. Score. 29 pages. Soundnotation #4251133750690. Published by Soundnotation (2S.4251133750690).

Rivers that flow and starlight aglow, testify true of His love. I know that God lives. His ev’ry creation delights whence it came. Mountains in splendor and beauty herald His glorious name. I know that God lives; I know that He sent His Son to the Earth. His life he gave, then rose from the grave, off’ring a gift of great worth. I know that God lives. His work and His glory eternally sing. Cov’nants that bind me to Heaven; Near Him, He longs to bring. I know that God lives. This great work engages all men to know. Gained step by step, from parents who’ve kept promises made long ago. I know that God lives, And sweet is the feeling of answering prayer Led by His Spirit, each errand; Others know that He’s there. I know that God lives. I honor His name and church in these days. His work is true, and always I knew I’d give my love, strength, and praise. I know that God lives, the depth of my soul yearns to sing it aloud. Praying for blessings for all ‘til Glory comes in a cloud.

Standards. 24 pages. Will Corbin #1041069. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1462326). Here's Oktoberfest 101, a basic requirement for any polka band. It started out as a composition by a Czech composer, got new lyrics and new names in many languages (in Germany, where the Germans claim it as their own, it's called Rosamunde) and became wildly popular across the globe during World War II, after the Andrews Sisters made a hit of it in 1939.This one is scored for two trumpet, horn, tuba and baritone, a more fitting instrument for an Oktoberfest band than a trombone. If you'd like other instrumentation, I'm happy to accommodate. Contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

Voice and breath(ad libitum amplified) - difficult - SKU: S9.Q41789 Etude in fragility for voice and breath (ad lib. amplified). Composed by Chaya Czernowin. This edition: single sheet. Downloadable, Separate edition. Duration 10 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q41789. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q41789). Vocalises. In this piece, the voice and the breath play an equal role in executing the musical text, as the breath is (at times) independent from the voice and equal to it in an almost contrapuntal relationship. This is not an expressive piece in the more standard way in which a singer employs all of his personality in an attempt to express emotions or other expressions of the ‘self’. It is rather a sketch using the voice and the breath like a small brush painting a line. Even though it is only a line made out of water (breath) with some color (voice), this line is actually transmitting a whole landscape. Chaya Czernowin.

Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813678 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6473857. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813678). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Euphonium Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection, including a version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef, if you would prefer. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maesto.

Regis Bookshar #6473977. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813689). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (String Quintet) - Intermediate - . Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a String Quintet, consisting of 2 Violins, 1 Viola, 1 Violoncello (which has the lead) and 1 Double Bass, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the.

Instrumental Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1039128 By Jackaleen Justice. By Jackaleen Justice. Arranged by Jackaleen Justice. Country,Traditional. Individual part. 4 pages. Angelical Realm #644090. Published by Angelical Realm (A0.1039128). Song Creation The creation of this song describes a person who is in love with another person. The Composer, Ms. Jackaleen Justice does a great job using the lyrics to tell a story of love and desire. The musical piece is efficient in describing these loving emotions and the desire to be with the one she loves so dearly. In creating this musical artwork, the composer wanted to evoke an idea of wanting to be in a relationship with the person she has merely only been friends with for years. The other person in the song has been her best friend and the singer is telling the story of her desires to be with them. The Composer wanted to help those around the world who have been in similar positions to be able to relate to those feelings through this piece of musical artwork. Song Composition While creating the rhythm for this song, the composer aimed for a moderately slow tempo. After the lyrics were added, the target of approximately 110 - 120 was perfect resulting in 115 beats per minute. In the end, the tempo was perfect for the song, because it made the final piece sound much more polished and superior. Giving the song the perfect beat and ideal for the lyrics of the song. Song Completion This musical piece is perfect for someone looking for a well-written and well-composed song that has rhythm which makes it stand out from all the others on the market. With the right vocalist, this song has great potential in the music industry. This song is by far, one of my favorite song’s I have written and composed. Song Lyrics The Lyricist, Ms. Jackaleen Justice, truly achieved success in the crafting of an original song that really maximize the emotional notes of this music piece. She desired to exploit this song’s best emotional states through the lyrics of this song. With inspiration from her own life stories, she had much success in arriving at a piece of musical perfection.
