The first two – O Thou Joyful (O Sanctissima) and In The Bleak Midwinter are for solo voice. The third song, Sing We The Virgin Mary, is arranged for two voices but works just as well with one. Two of them were not originally carols, only In The Bleak Midwinter was written specifically as a carol, for this reason I have used the term Christmas Song. This publication has both notes on the origins of the songs and some technical advice on how to play them on the guitar. There are separate parts for voice and guitar together with a full score for those who prefer this, especially for reference purposes or expanded arrangement.

Brenda Dillon's arrangement of In the Bleak Midwinter for SATB choir, piano accompaniment and flute or another C instrument, is a Christmas carol based on a poem by the English poet Christina Rossetti. The poem was published in Scribner's Monthly in 1872. It first appeared as a musical setting by Gustav Holst in The English Hymnal in 1906.About the composer: Brenda Dillon is best known for her contributions to the Recreational Music Making movement. In addition to her contributions to the RMM Track for MTNA's Pedagogy Saturday, she also presented group piano and RMM sessions throughout the U.S. As well as serving as a teacher trainer, she has written extensive articles on both group piano and RMM teaching.
