Small Ensemble Drums,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.802680 By Hank Williams. By Hank Williams. Arranged by Richard Carpenter & Peet du Toit. Country. Score and parts. 30 pages. Peet du Toit #6383245. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802680). Jambalaya (On the Bayou) is a song written and recorded by American country music singer Hank Williams that was first released in July 1952. Named for a Creole and Cajun dish, jambalaya, it spawned numerous cover versions and has since achieved popularity in several different music genres.Since the original melody of the song was from Grand Texas, the song is a staple of Cajun culture. However, although Williams kept a Louisiana theme, the song is not a true cajun song, which helped the song gain widespread popularity:Ethnic music is usually unpalatable for a mass market unless it is diluted in some way (Harry Belafonte's calypsos, Paul Simon's Graceland… the list is endless). The broader audience related to 'Jambalaya' in a way that it could never relate to a true cajun two-step led by an asthmatic accordion and sung in patois. The Carpenters featured the song, in an up-tempo pop version with country flourishes, on their 1973 album Now & Then. Their version was released as a single outside the United States in 1974 and sold well in the UK (peaking at number 12 in the charts) and Japan.Presented here as a brass quintet with up-tempo percussion, there is some resemblance of the Carpenters' cover, but also demands spectacular playing from all the players. Enjoy!

Flute,Horn,Piano,Violin - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1257964 Composed by JohnWillard Utuk. Chamber,Contemporary,Film/TV,New Age,Video Game. 23 pages. JohnWillard Utuk #851201. Published by JohnWillard Utuk (A0.1257964). The High Priestess is a chamber work for mixed instrumentation, including an F Horn with piano, violin, and flute. This piece is inspired by the artwork of the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck, specifically the less credited illustrator of the world famous deck, Pamela Colman Smith. The music represents the symbolism and feeling behind the High Priestess card, with keywords of strength, adaptability, seriousness, intuition, loving understanding, knowledge, introspection, and self-trust. Each instrument is featured throughout, as the main melody and distinct rhythms are traded and dovetailed around the ensemble. The piece begins with a feeling of watery calm (e.g. Venetian Boat songs), ascends to a hopeful journey, moves through tense trials, then returning back to the distant flute melody, followed by a piano “solo†that ultimately inspired this chamber work in the first place. This work is great for high school, collegiate, amateur, or professional ensembles, as well as very advanced young chamber players looking for something new and fresh. Rhythms are simple, while expression and musicality can be explored. In performance, be mindful of balance issues, so seating arrangement can be adjusted. I recommend the horn player be seated on the outside, so as not to cover up the flute. Average performance time: ca. 4:30Other instrumentations are in progress, so please check back for updated editions. The original instrumentation involved the oboe and cello. There is also another version with trombone substituting the F horn. Please leave a review here below and reach out via my website listed in the score for any feedback or questions. Matthew Naughtin #5297965. Published by Matthew Naughtin (A0.852948). Luiz Bonfá's Manhã de Carnaval (Morning of the Carnival) was the principal theme in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus) by French director Marcel Camus. Bonfá's lyrical, melancholy song became one of the first Jazz/Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil and helped establish the Bossa Nova movement in the late 1950s. This swaying, sensual arrangement for string orchestra provides the full score and all five parts.

Arranged by Keith Terrett. 21st Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Historic,Multicultural,World. 12 pages. Keith Terrett #1066451. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1489585). In 1942, during World War II, the British government set up a small base in the North Sea just outside British territorial waters (at the time). After the war, the fort was abandoned, but, in 1967, Roy Bates, a pirate radio broadcaster, claimed it as the Principality of Sealand. The British government’s stated view is that Sealand is within British jurisdiction. Sealand generally is classified as a micronation (a nation project set up by an individual or group, and has no international recognition.)As pertaining to the anthem, it was composed by London composer Basil Simonenko in conjunction with the governing Bates family, and has no words. The title of the anthem is also the motto of Sealand.Principality of Sealand: The Principality of Sealand (/ˈsiːˌlænd/) is a micronation that claims HM Fort Roughs (also known as Roughs Tower), an offshore platform in the North Sea approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) off the coast of Suffolk, as its territory. Roughs Tower is a Maunsell Sea Fort that was built by the British during World War II. Since 1967, the decommissioned Roughs Tower has been occupied and claimed as a sovereign state by the family and associates of Paddy Roy Bates. Bates seized Roughs Tower from a group of pirate radio broadcasters in 1967 with the intention of setting up his own station there. Sealand was invaded by mercenaries in 1978, but was able to repel the attack.

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - SKU: A0.799274 Composed by Barry Stoller. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Contemporary,Film/TV. Score and parts. 24 pages. Derek Hasted #5224117. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.799274). MATCH OF THE DAY THEME - 4 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes Both my adult ensemble groups have played this in concert and it’s a lot of fun! It's known to UK audiences as the theme music to the TV program Match Of The Day.This version includes the uplifting key-change in the middle of the piece and if the upper three parts play outside of first position, then it’s a simple two-fret shift and no change to the left hand fingering at all!The X-headed notes are golpé strokes - but on a Classical Guitar with no scratch-protection to the front, it’s best to tap the side-panel of the bridge with the side of the thumb - it gives a great drum sound and the wood is hard and won’t mark. The metronome mark ties in with the speed of the original, but if the fast sections are a little too cumbersome for Guitar One, simply drop the pace a little. Since most of the notes are the same length, it works at almost any speed.I hope you enjoy performing this!

The first out of four movement of the work Liz And The Blue Bird arranged for woodwind ensemble.Liz And The Blue Bird is a four-movement work based on a fictional German fairytale from a movie, both of the same name. Liz is the name of a lonely girl who sells bread at a bakery and socializes with the forest animals. After a big thunderstorm, she finds an unnamed blue-haired girl lying outside. She quickly takes her into her home and, the two become close friends. After a while, Liz started noticing the girl sneaking out at night and coming back before dawn. Liz noticed how the girl would look at the birds freely flying in the sky when they fed the animals. Liz becomes conflicted with her emotions but eventually decides to release her from the cage that is her home. Liz confronts the girl and tells her that she needs to be free and spread her wings. Although distraught by Liz's decision, the girl comes to respect it. The girl then transforms into a blue bird and flies away, spreading her wings.Instrumentation-C Piccolo Flute-C Flute 1&2-Oboe 1&2-F Alto Oboe (English Horn)-Bassoon 1&2-B flat Clarinet 1,2,3-E flat Tenor Clarinet (Alto Clarinet)-B flat Bass Clarinet-E flat Alto Saxophone 1&2-B flat Tenor Saxophone-E flat Baritone Saxophone-Contrabass Woodwind (Contrabassoon/Contrabass Clarinet/Bass Saxophone).

Nigel Williams #4270585. Published by Nigel Williams (A0.763299). America The beautiful, (Materna), arranged for mezzo soprano and high baritone soloists with keyboard, trumpet in Bb and side drum. Music theater voices would suit this arrangement particularly well, the soprano sings the first verse, the baritone the second, with both voices combining in harmony for the last verse. Due to the instrumentation employed this arrangement will sound well in an outside arena such as a stadium as well as inside the concert hall or church as all the performers can be miked and routed through the sound system to achieve optimal balance. America The Beautiful is Ideal for senior high school and college performances as well as church services. The performance duration is two and a half minutes and the full score has all the individual parts attached. To see more of my patriotic music on SMP, check out my choral arrangements of Amazing Grace (SATB) with Trumpet (The Last Post) and Blessed Assurance (SATB and TTBB) with Trumpet (The Last Post). .

Arranged by Paul Johnson. 19th Century,Latin,Mariachi,Traditional. Brass Band. 26 pages. John Paulson #847041. Published by John Paulson (A0.1253334). La Paloma means 'The Dove' and was written and composed in the 1850's by the Spanish composer Sebastian Iranier (1809-1865) from the Basque region on Spain. He later became known as Sebastian Yradier and this name is used as acredit on most sheet music. La Paloma quickly became popular outside of Spain especially in Mexico, and is known around the world. In Zanzibar the tune is played at the ends of weddings, in Romania its sang at the ends of funerals, in Mexico its known as the 'second anthem', and in Germany as a sailors lament. Yradier died in 1865 before he knew just how popular his song would become. Great songs stand the test of time, and this one is definately in such a catorgory.La Paloma has been arranged here as a solo for Cornet or Flugelhorn with a full band accompaniment, and would be a great addition to any concert program, particularily a park or garden party engagement.La Paloma is a grade 2/3 piece with an easy listening Latin American feel to it along with an obligato passage in the soloist part.

Classical,Film/TV,Jazz,Latin,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 11 pages. DanJonesGuitarist #748703. Published by DanJonesGuitarist (A0.1148537). (Black Orpheus) Manhã de Carnaval Arranged for Xylophone and Guitar by Dan Jones www.danjonesguitarist.com Manhã de Carnaval appeared as a principal theme in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro. It became one of the first Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil, and in the United States, the song is considered to be one of the most important Brazilian Jazz/Bossa songs that helped establish the Bossa Nova movement in the late 1950s. Manhã de Carnaval has become a jazz standard in the U.S. and is performed regularly by musicians around the world in its vocalized version or as an instrumental. The song is also known as A Day in the Life of a Fool, Carnival, Theme from Black Orpheus, or simply Black Orpheus. In France, the song is also known as La Chanson d'Orphée. This version for guitar and xylophone is intended for intermediate standard players. My heartfelt thanks go to Harry Bond for his invaluable advice in scoring for xylophone. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784832). ACT TWO: Song 6. The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [2 Samuel 11:12-13 - And David said to Uriah: ‘Tarry here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let thee depart.’ So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow. 13 And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk; and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.] In fear of being exposed, DAVID has her husband brought back from the field with the hope that he will have relations with his wife covering up his own indiscretion. URIAH, a conscientious soldier, returns home, but sleeps outside on his steps out of respect for the men still fighting on the front. Seeing that his ploy has not worked, he has URIAH and some of his men over to the palace for drinks [Pour Me Another One – Troops, Uriah and David]. Getting URIAH drunk, DAVID has him escorted home, but as before he sleeps outside. As a last desperate measure, he sends a letter for JOAB (David’s commander and confidant) back with URIAH to place URIAH on the front line and then have the rest of the troops pull back leaving him exposed. URIAH is killed. Also included with your order is our new 20 page catalog of over 150 titles at no additional charge.

It is a nocturnal animal that has adapted well to city life, being quite happy living in the roofs of houses. This piece represents the possum creeping about at night time looking for food. It is inspired by an experience I had with a baby possum one night, when I woke up to the strings on my grand piano being played. The young possum had come down my chimney and was looking for an escape from the rain. It was also fairly unhappy with being placed outside again.

Regis Bookshar #6615143. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813923). Euphonium Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of the Russian Dance from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance, one of the character dances, based on the Russian and Ukrainian folk dance, Trepak, for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the Russian Dance, for a Euphonium Octet, written in Treble Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. A version written in Bass Clef, is also available, if you prefer. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the Russian Dance, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the March as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the Russian Dance from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday fav.

The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the March for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. A version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef is also available, if you prefer. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the March, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the Russian Dance as well. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the March from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Suite, will continue to entertain both performers.
