It consists of five movements as follows: 1. The Front Yard 2. Yeonji Gonzi 3. Joyful Dance 4. Waiting (Longing) 5. The Bride and Groom Movement 1, The Front Yard: In G minor in 8/12 time, it is a short song with a bright atmosphere. The front yard is a friendly place for villagers' gatherings and events. Movement 2, Yeonzi – Gonzi: In G major in 4/4 time, natural harmonics are used to describe the mysterious oriental atmosphere. The meaning of Yeonji Gonji is the red dot on the cheeks and forehead of the bride in a traditional wedding ceremony. Movement 3, Joyful Dance: 3/4 time B flat major, composed in ABA format, expressed the joy of dancing in Korea. Movement 4, Longing: In G minor in 6/4 time, we tried to express oriental waiting. Movement 5, The Bride and Groom : It is composed of 4/4 time and 6/4 time, and like the title of the title of Groom and Bride, it shows the contrasting character of liveliness and calm. It is a concerto composed with the theme of the melody of Nan-pa Hong, who played an important role in spreading Western music in Korea. Children’s song “Spring in Hometown†was composed in 1929 and is a familiar melody to all Koreans, young and old. The content of the poem is about the beautiful and nostalgic nostalgia of the village where he lived as a child. Following the lively ensemble in 4/4 time, a solo viola that seems to read a poem plays the theme, followed by the first variation composed of a splendid broken chord. Variations 2 and 3 are played by soloists and ensembles, crossing the traditional Korean rhythms “Jajinmori†and “Kutkoriâ€. In Variation 4, the slowly expanded theme is played by the ensemble with a consoldino (played using a muted instrument), and the solo viola adorns the theme of the ensemble with up and down notes. Folk songs are traditional songs that are passed down among the general public. It reflects the culture, customs, and emotions of each region and has diverse content and rhythm. “Monggeumpo Taryeong(It is also called “Jangsangot Taryeong)†is a traditional Korean folk song handed down from the Hwanghae region. “Monggeumpo†is a port, and the beach here is famous for its white sandy beaches, lush forests, and Rosa rugosa flowers. The content of this folk song consists of a sad melody and lyrics, and it contains the joys and sorrows of the fishermen's lives and the sorrowful feelings waiting for the safe return of a loved one who went out to catch fish. This music is composed in the A-B-A format. The sad part is located in the middle of the music, and the beginning and end parts were composed in an exciting atmosphere. It is usually played to the traditional Korean “jungmori†rhythm, which is also quoted throughout the piece. The attached music file was played on the violin and only the first part was played. This is just for reference.

Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.7.0663-E). This work, first scored for piano solo, was composed for the 2008 Sejong Music Composition Competition. Although it did not win a prize, having entered the competition left me with a neat little piano piece to show for it, as well as the present transcription which I created for flutist Peter Sheridan in 2015. The set of variations opens with the traditional Korean theme accompanied by arpeggios. This is followed by Variation 1, a sad waltz in the style of a Chopin waltz. Next comes Variation 2, a funeral march in the manner of Chopin’s Funeral March from the Piano Sonata in B-flat Minor, Op. 35. Variation 3 is a Tango written in tribute to one of my favorite composers, Astor Piazzolla. Variation 4 combined the Korean tune with motifs from the slow movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, The Pastoral. The set of variations closes with a repeat of the opening passage. -Stanley M. It is mainly used in traditional Korean songs, and a representative example is Arirang, one of the representative folk songs famous for its slow melody and mournful melody. It also reflects the culture, customs, and emotions of each region and has diverse content and rhythm.“Hangangsu Taryeong” is one of the Gyeonggi folk songs and contains information about the history, nature, joys and sorrows of the Han River, and boating. It is also an exciting song and is usually played to the rhythm of “Gutgeori,” one of Korea’s traditional rhythms. However, in this music, I changed the mood and mainly used the “Jajinmori” rhythm, and also varied the tempo. Traditionally, the “Jajinmori” rhythm is much faster and more exciting than the “Gutgeori” rhythm. This music can be divided into the first half and the second half, and the three themes from the first half are compressed and connected in the second half. We can find it in traditional Indian percussion, and in jazz when musicians accompany their play with 'Sprechgesang'. This piece goes the opposite way: It begins with the percussionist speaking nonsensically, the emphasis on the rhythm, which he then passes on to his instrument. Like the pure, childish joy of repeating the same word in a different tune, the soloist teaches his instrument to speak until the drums start to talk themselves. Several poems form the basis; in the first two movements it are three poems by Sándor Weöres, and in the third movement it is a poem by Jayadeva.
