(A0.1415494). I structured the beginning in a very expansive, linear way, with this rain reproduced by the rain stick. The piano creates a rotating bassline. Over this foundation, the marimba and violin come and go repetitively. There isn't really an ending; we move towards silence, in fact, it's very Zen. I wrote this piece so that the marimbist passes the rain stick to the violinist at a certain moment, a baton exchange like in a relay race. J'ai construit le début de manière très étalée, très linéaire, avec cette pluie reproduite par le bâton de pluie. Le piano qui fait tourner une basse. Par-dessus cette base, le marimba et le violon viennent et s’en vont de manière répétitive.Il n’y a pas de vraiment de fin, on va vers le silence en fait, c’est très Zen.J'ai écrit cette piece en permettant que le marimbiste transmette au violoniste le baton de pluie a un certain moment, un échange de baton comme dans un relais donc.

C'est un arrangement de l'un des œuvres les plus fameuses de Bach, pour un ensemble qui se compose d'un violon, une guitare et une guitare basse avec 5 cordes. (Si vous possédez pourtant la basse la plus commune avec 4 cordes, vous pouvez jouer quelconques notes qui sont écrites sous la corde mi, une octave plus hautes.)C'est en fait une actualisation - l'arrangement original ne contient pas nuances, puisque Sam voulait rester fidèle à l'œuvre originale pour orgue. L'idée était pour que les musiciens eux-mêmes pourraient décider à quel fortement qu'ils joueraient. Il y n'avait pas legato dans l'arrangement original non plus, puisque, tandis que Sam savait por quoi legato est (pour couler les notes), il les savait surtout du piano - et parce que le piano est un instrument de clavier (et il manque une roue de tangage, contrairement au synthétiseur), un legato vrai est impossible, et c'est simplement émulé en jouant d'un tenuto sur plusieurs notes, alors Sam présumait à tort que le legato ne sois si important. Bien que Sam jouait le violon quand il était un enfant, il ne se souvient pas d'apprendre legato, et c'est seulement quand il a commencé à prendre des leçons de saxophone qu'il comprenait ce que legato signifie vraiment. En plus, le premier arrangement avait trop contre-mélodies dans les parties de la guitare et le violon, qui, dans cette version, sont soit enlevées, soit transférées à la partie de la basse, pour jouer plus facilement.En tout cas, quand Sam a téléversé l'arrangement à YouTube, il a reçu beaucoup critique - et il a reçu conseil de plus de sa professeure d'arrangement - ainsi, il a pris les critiques et amélioré l'arrangement comme requis. Ainsi, voici la version nouvelle et améliorée de 2017. ISBN 9782898522048.Antônio Francisco Braga (1868-1945) belongs to the generation of Brazilian composers of the first republican period, aesthetically tied to romanticism, alongside Henrique Oswald (1852-1931), Leopoldo Miguez (1850-1902), Glauco Velásquez (1884-1914), and Barrozo Neto (1881-1941). Born in Rio de Janeiro, on April 15th, 1868, he began his musical studies at the Asilo dos Meninos Desvalidos, in 1876. In 1883, he enrolled at the Imperial Conservatório de Música where he studied harmony and counterpoint with Carlos de Mesquita – a former student of César Franck, Durand, and Massenet – and clarinet with Antônio Luís de Moura. Braga's first compositions date from this period: Sonho de Dante (1885), Dolce far niente (1886), the first Valse Romantique for piano (1886), among others.In 1887, he premiered his first symphonic work, Fantasia-Abertura. In 1890, being one of the finalists in a competition to choose the new Brazilian national anthem, Braga was awarded a scholarship to study in Europe, where he took classes with Jules Massenet at the Paris Conservatory. During this period, he wrote some of his most important symphonic works, Paysage, Cauchemar, Episódio Sinfônico, and Marabá (which was performed by Richard Strauss and the Vienna Philharmonic in 1920, in Brazil). His opera Jupyra is considered one of the greatest Brazilian compositions of that genre.Back in Brazil, he was appointed professor of counterpoint, fugue, and composition at the Instituto Nacional de Música, in 1902. There, some of the finest Brazilian composers studied with him, like Glauco Velásquez and Lorenzo Fernândez.Braga wrote operas, symphonic works, songs, sacred music, two Masses, music for piano, different chamber formations, band, and choir. He is the author of many patriotic hymns, the most popular of which is Hino à Bandeira (with lyrics by Olavo Bilac). He explored Brazilian nationalist elements in some of his works, as in Variações sobre um Tema Brasileiro and in the Trio for violin, cello and piano, whose third movement is based on a lundu (a musical genre and dance of Afro-Brazilian origin).In addition to being a composer, Braga was one of the most active conductors of his time, having been ahead of three orchestras in Rio de Janeiro: Instituto Nacional de Música, Sociedade de Concertos Sinfônicos, and Theatro Municipal. Braga conducted the Brazilian premiere of major symphonic works such as La Mer (Debussy), Pacific 231 (Honegger) besides other numerous Brazilian compositions.In 1938, he retired from Instituto Nacional de Música. He passed away on March 14th, 1945, in Rio de Janeiro.Unfortunately, Francisco Braga never wrote for the guitar. However, over a century ago his music had already been incorporated to its repertoire. According to information found in newspapers of the time, Spanish guitarist Josefina Robledo included transcriptions of pieces by Braga in her programs when she performed in Brazil: Gavota e Minuete (from the melodrama Contratador de Diamantes), in 1919, in São Paulo, and the waltz-caprice Corrupio, in 1921, in Rio de Janeiro.The piano score of Madrigal Pavane was dedicated to Alexina Leitão and published by Casa Vieira Machado, in 1901. According to the composer’s catalogue, there are two other versions of this piece: strings orchestra (1901) and quartet (which is still in manuscript). Il est décédé le 14 mars 1945 à Rio de Janeiro.Malheureusement, Francisco Braga n’a jamais écrit pour la guitare. Cependant, il y a plus d'un siècle, sa musique était déjà incorporée à son répertoire. Selon des informations trouvées dans les journaux de l'époque, la guitariste espagnole Josefina Robledo incluait des transcriptions de pièces de Braga dans ses programmes lorsqu'elle se produisait au Brésil : « Gavota e Minuete » (du mélodrame « Contratador de Diamantes »), en 1919, à São Paulo, et la valse-caprice « Corrupio », en 1921, à Rio de Janeiro.La partition pour piano de « Madrigal Pavane » a été dédiée à Alexina Leitão et publiée par « Casa Vieira Machado », en 1901. Selon le catalogue du compositeur, il existe deux autres versions de cette pièce : orchestre à cordes (1901) et quatuor (qui est encore manuscrit). La pièce « Lamento et Rock Bulgare » a été écrite à la demande du Trio Ahn pour une série de concerts avec la guitariste Antigone Goni. On souhait que je utilise les matériels de Bulgarian Rock originalement composé pour violoncelle et guitare et en faire une nouvelle version pour violon, cello, piano et guitare. J’ai rajouté la partie lente au début (« Lamento ») car le Trio Ahn est constitué de trois soeurs qui venaient de perdre leur mere. Dans le Rock bulgare il y a un mélange du rythme typiquement bulgare à 11 temps (4+3+4) avec des modes de jeux que font référence très largement à la musique rock. La pièce à été créée au Festival Montana Chamber Music aux USA le 20 avril 2024.The piece Lamento et Rock Bulgarian was written at the request of the Ahn Trio for a series of concerts with guitarist Antigone Goni. We would like me to use the materials from Bulgarian Rock originally composed for cello and guitar and make a new version for violin, cello, piano and guitar. I added the slow part at the beginning (Lamento) because the Ahn Trio is made up of three sisters who had just lost their mother. In Bulgarian Rock there is a mixture of the typically Bulgarian 11-beat rhythm (4+3+4) with playing modes that refer very largely to rock music. The piece was premiered at the Montana Chamber Music Festival in the USA on April 20, 2024.

Il terzo movimento, Poco allegretto, in Do minore, che prende il posto dello Scherzo ordinario, è di stile prevalentemente serio, e si può dire che fissa il carattere generale della sinfonia. Il suo tema principale, che fa pensare a un lied, affidato ai violoncelli, è dapprima fantasioso, tenero e ricco di semplice grazia, poi diviene riflessivo e meditativo, e infine sognante. Segue un passaggio per i fiati, distensivo e quasi supplichevole, come una disapprovazione per lo struggimento imminente. Non c'è nulla del carattere dello Scherzo in questo movimento, e avergli dato questa forma sarebbe stato in conflitto con le idee che sostengono la struttura della sinfonia e avrebbe introdotto uno spirito e un colore estranei.
