Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Bass Clarinet,Bassoon,English Horn,Flute,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1211950 Composed by Marin Marais. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Baroque,Christmas. 10 pages. RayThompsonMusic #809502. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1211950). The French composer Marin Marais composed the tune as a dance for his opera Alcyone of 1706, with the title Marche pour les Matelots. The tune was subsequently included in Raoul Auger Feuillet's 1706 Recueil de contredanse along with a longways proper dance, La Matelotte, which Feuillet had himself written to go with the tune.In 1710 John Essex (d. 1744) published an English translation of Feuillet's work called, For the Further Improvement of Dancing, in which the dance is given as The Female Saylor. The words were written around 1860 while William Morris, then 26, was working as an apprentice in the office of the architect, Edmund Street, presumably under the persuasion of his fellow students who at that time had a taste for part-song. It became known as the Christmas Carol Masters in This Hall (alternative title: Nowell, Sing We Clear) Gustav Holst incorporated the carol into his work Three Carols (1916–17) along with Christmas Song: On this Day and I Saw Three Ships. Holst wrote the Three Carols for amateurs singing in his Thaxted festivals.I have arranged the March and 3 of the Sailor's Airs from the opera for mixed woodwind trio, The march is then reprised to complete the arrangement.1.flute/oboe/clarinet 12.cor anglais/clarinet 23.bassoon/bass clarinetThe mp3 is  of oboe, cor anglais and bassoon.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Alto Saxophone,Bassoon,Clarinet,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.755261 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Contemporary. 46 pages. Sy Brandon #3604157. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755261). Emoticons III is the third in a series of compositions that are designed to be aural representations of images that reflect emotions. This composition has eight short movements and is scored for wind quintet. I. Nebulous – The wandering tonality, slow tempo, frequent shifts of color, and lack of cadences gives this movement a feeling of vagueness. II. Puckish – This Allegretto movement has a playful quality that is created by staccato articulations, melodic leaps, unexpected use of rests and sudden tonality shifts to express an impish quality. III. Excited – A fast tempo and technical passages along with driving rhythms help this movement express excitement. IV. Horrified – Angular melodic lines, trills, dissonant chords, extreme ranges, and accents are all used to create this emotional representation. V. Jocular – This playful movement in an Allegretto tempo uses staccato, syncopation, meter change, dotted rhythms, and angular melodies for its laughing sounds. VI. Scattered – A Presto tempo with hemiola, staccato notes, and light scoring are used throughout this short movement that feels like it is constantly changing direction. VII. Regretful – This Lento movement has sad legato lines with unresolved dissonances at the beginning and end. The middle section creates a sense of hope but quickly returns to the sorrowful sound. VIII. Confident – This movement is in a march style with strong accents. Its clear lines and rhythms help portray strength in one’s beliefs.

Tchaikovsky: Coronation March TH50 - symphonic wind dectet/bass

A Clarinet,Bassoon,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1278533 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,March,Romantic Period. 25 pages. RayThompsonMusic #870214. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1278533). The Festival Coronation March in D major, TH 50, ČW 47, is an orchestral work by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883.It was written during March 1883 and performed for the first time on June 4[O.S. May 23], 1883 in Sokolniki Park (Moscow), conducted by Sergei Taneyev.[1] The music included excerpts of the anthem God Save the Tsar.Recordings of this piece generally run between 5 and 5½ minutes.Arranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet/bass/tuba)My arrangement is in the same key as the original (D major)Clarinet parts are CLARINET IN AThis is the first section of the March, It does NOT include the TRIO or the repeat of the March (so does not include the God save the Tsar music)Rather than simply copying the woodwind parts, I have moved some of the music down one octave. Thus avoiding the shrill sound of high woodwind in a smaller ensemble. For info: During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march. Other works that quoted or otherwise used the anthem, such as Tchaikovsky's Marche Slave and 1812 Overture, were also revised, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem.Starting with Dmitri Medvedev’s inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president. That version (Similar to my arrangement) lasts less than two minutes, and so ends well before the playing  of  God Save the Tsar.Check out my arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Military March,TH150 arranged for similar instrumentation.

This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (26 pages). Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Euphonium Octet, written in Treble Clef. A version written in Bass Clef is also available, if you prefer. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Euphonium Octet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

String Ensemble,String Quintet Cello,Double Bass,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1083843 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 15 pages. Regis Bookshar #688042. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1083843). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. String Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages). Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a String Quintet, consisting of 3 Violins, 1 Violoncello and 1 Double Bass. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a String Quintet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available.
