The first verse offers laid-back arrangements for Guitars 2 and 3 with Guitar 4 driving the bass rhythm. Verse two introduces more rhythmic movement. At letter E, the modulation from A major to Bb major is only one of the changes keeping the energy going. The melody is now played by Guitar 4, and in octaves a la Wes Montgomery, although they may be more easily played with the thumb and middle finger rather than a single down stroke of the thumb. Guitar 3 takes over the bass line duties. And Guitars 1 and 2 channel â€œMr. Sandmanâ€ by the Chordettes with ascending and falling arpeggios. So everyone has some fun in this arrangement.The original recording featured brass and strings, which are difficult to translate to an acoustic guitar arrangement. But the cascading endings of each verse, bring some of that authenticity to the overall experience.
