Wind Ensemble - SKU: IZ.WES151-S Composed by Dan Goeller. Arranged by Frederick Umar. Score. 15 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #WES151-S. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.WES151-S). 9 x 12 in inches. In accepting this commission, my thoughts were to create a work that incorporated the rich history of Chautauqua and its pure, innocent, ruralAmericana experience. Seeing its heritage was grounded in a nondenominational understanding of God, which incorporated both secular andspiritual experience, it seemed fitting to arrange a work that bound these two ideals into one work. The arrangement opens with a stately expressionof valor, dignity, and innocence lost - developing gently through a series of tonal and textural adaptations of the hymn tune until it finds a stately tuttiexpression for the ensemble. But the end is delayed by the arrival of a false cadence at rehearsal D, which embraces a 'river dance' with a variety ofpercussive features. The idea here is one of 'beauty from ashes' and 'joy coming in the new mornings dew.' The reeds are now used to express thebagpipe above the thrusts of the percussion. Soon, the hymn tune is heard again, supported by the rhythmic dance in reeds, brass, and percussion -now filled with the joy of community participation. Each counter-melodic line is somewhat of a statement now - and, must be heard in itsuniqueness. It is as if the birds have begun to sing again, each in their own language, of the wonderment surrounding the new day. Hope has onceagain sprung upon the community through music.Take your time through the reminiscent, Americana moments, and enjoy the dance thoroughly!

Small Ensemble - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1195919 Composed by Annemieke Lustenhouwer. Contemporary. Score and parts. 80 pages. Annemieke Lustenhouwer #795094. Published by Annemieke Lustenhouwer (A0.1195919). What happens when you close your eyes and you see yourself standing next to Mother Mary when Jesus dies? What do you see and what do you feel? That was what I’ve been asking myself for years when I read the text Stabat Mater. This composition tells about this experience and this questions. Sometimes a motif tells quite literally about this story, like the moment when Jesus is nailed down the cross: first the right hand, then the left hand and finaly with one nail both feet. In the first part of the composition, the viola tells with sforzato accents about this. This Stabat Mater is not only an expression of the pain of the Virgin Mother, but is also a tribute to JS Bach as well. Bach is by some seen as a fith evangelist. Nowadays there are still a lot of people who are affected by how his music tells about biblical stories, like I am. In this Stabat Mater I use the number 5 to express that: the first part is written in 5/4th and the last part Quando corpus et Amen is written with 5 parts in the choir. There can also be found a reworked choral in the choir passages of  O quam tristis et afflicta. It is the choral Wie nahe mir mein Ende from BWV 166.Polyfony is a returning presence in this Stabat Mater. I had an visual idea about this. When I was young I saw in an exhibition a tapestry with all kinds of colours and threads, and everything felt in motion. It was a kind of organized mess, but it was beautiful and felt perfect. I wondered if I could manage to express this idea in music as well. Under one of the polyphonic passages there is a Latin-American dance rhythm to express that motion. I heard that rhythm in my childhood in a rhythmbox of the keyboard of my dad. Another passage has the baroque sarabande-rhythme underneath in the double bass.A lullaby-feeling in some parts of the Stabat Mater tells about another story that got intertwined with this composition. It’s the story of a mother who rocks her terminal dying little son in her arms. I once read that story and it felt connected with the Stabat Mater text for a long time. I decided to express that as well. This composition is dedicated to the Dutch conductor Geert van den Dungen. However I saw many conductors, while playing the oboe and clarinet from a young age, there was nobody who let me think very deeply about music. Geert was the one who changed that for me. I started to study scores and developed a great interest in music analysis and music psychology. Many moments of inspiration and understanding for this Stabat Mater happened on choir rehearsals and concerts where Geert was working. I am very grateful for that.String parts only, see for conductors/ choir score Sheet Music plus and Sheet music direct.

Level 2 - SKU: A0.1371179 Composed by Emiliano Brunetti. Chamber,Romantic Period. 12 pages. Emiliano Brunetti #955430. Published by Emiliano Brunetti (A0.1371179). Semanalmente reflects the exact moment when we are not able to attain what we strongly desire. We give our best for it to happen, but due to reasons we do not quite understand, it doesn’t. We will surely learn valuable lessons from this experience, but the moment of rejection hurts a lot. Written from the tip of my fingers, rather than from my rational brain, the rhythmic patterns and time signature changes showcase the intersection between my Argentinian and Latin American culture and influence with Western Classical Music.

E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #5969-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.5969-E). The Journey is a twenty-minute cantata extracted from the opera The Dreamers. The opera was commissioned and produced by the Sonoma City Opera in 1996; Antoinette Kuhry, producer; musical direction by John Miner; stage direction by Sanrda Bernhard. The Dreamers captures a formative moment in American history where characters are separated by their cultural and racial differences, and brought together by their dreams and their longing for a new home. The Journey was commissioned by the Oakland East Bay Symphony, Michael Morgan, conductor, and was premiered at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA on May 18th, 2001. To set the scene for the excerpt here entitled The Journey: The entire town of Sonoma is gathered at The Collonade Theater to watch an amateur production of Shakespeare's Othello. An unpleasant racial incident occurs which brings the performance to a halt. To smooth thingsover, a sing-a-long is proposed. The song chosen is My Old Kentucky Home by Stephen Foster. After a brief statement of that tune in the orchestra, the entire company enters a dream-state, as six characters from the opera, with commentary by the chorus, sing arias about home. Johnny Rowe, an American soldier stationed in Sonoma, serves as a kind of master-of-ceremonies. Black Sam is a freed slave working as a gambler in Sonoma to earn money to buy his wife out of slavery. Indian Princess Isadora is the last of her tribe. Jim and Mary Eastin have migrated to California from Kentucky. Lizzy Fine is a widow who sings a farewell to her departed husband. The finale of this sequence is an Octet, where all six characters and the men and women of the chorus sing their various texts together, ending with the words from Stephen Foster: Weep no more.

Percussion Solo,Timpani - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1018954 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078699. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018954). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  The second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1251539 Composed by Arr. Michael Sweeney and Percy Aldridge Grainger. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Folk. 24 pages. RayThompsonMusic #845816. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1251539). Lincolnshire Posy is a musical composition by Percy Grainger for concert band commissioned in 1937 by the American Bandmasters Association. Considered by John Bird, the author of Grainger's biography, to be his masterpiece, the 16-minute-long work has six movements, each adapted from folk songs that Grainger had collected on a 1905–1906 trip to Lincolnshire, England. In a similar fashion to these folk songs, many of the movements are in strophic form. This is my arrangement of No.VI. The Lost Lady FoundArranged symphonic wind dectet (double wind quintet) and bassA lilting 3/4 melody in strophic form. As the tempo is too fast for the conductor to gesture each beat of every measure, the movement is typically conducted in 1 where each gesture given by the conductor indicates a full measure instead of each beat. Every section of the ensemble states the theme at some point in the movement. This movement is based on the ballad of the same name,in which a lady, who while living with her uncle in a village is kidnapped by three Roma. After being missing for a long time, the villagers begin to speculate that the uncle is responsible for her disappearance, later imprisoning him and condemning him to death. At some point, the lady was found in Dublin by a young squire who loved her and was subsequently brought back to the village. Upon return to the village, the villagers, mere moments away from executing the uncle at the gallows, realized their error and set the uncle free, celebrating the lady's return with church bells (which are emulated by the tubular bells in the closing of the movement), music, and frivolity. As this movement was not yet completed at the time of the work's premiere, it was omitted for the performance. For Info:Green Bushes is an English folk song  which is featured in the second movement of Vaughan Williams's English Folk Song Suite, in Percy Grainger's Green Bushes (Passacaglia on an English Folksong), and in George Butterworth's The Banks of Green Willow. The melody is very similar to that of the Lost Lady Found movement.
