Grandfather's Clock (popularly known as My Grandfather's Clock) is a song written in 1876 by Henry Clay Work, the author of Marching Through Georgia. It is a standard of British brass bands and colliery bands, and is also popular in bluegrass music. The Oxford English Dictionary says the song was the origin of the term grandfather clock for a longcase clock. In 1905, the earliest known recording of this song was performed by Harry Macdonough and the Haydn Quartet (known then as the Edison Quartet).The song, told from a grandchild's point of view, is about his grandfather's clock.The clock is purchased on the morning of the grandfather's birth and works perfectly for 90 years, requiring only that it be wound at the end of each week.The clock seems to know the good and bad events in the grandfather's life; it rings 24 chimes when the grandfather brings his new wife into his home, and near his death it rings an alarm, which the family recognizes to mean that the elderly gentleman is near death and gathers by his bed. After the grandpa dies, the clock suddenly stops, and never works again.This famous Euphonium solo, with brass quintet, but also with Sam Harrill's percussive magic. Enjoy!

A year or so later, she was approached by a family whose teenage daughter was pregnant about the possibility of adopting the child. Both families were in our church at the time, and the adoptive mother and the birth grandfather both sang in the choir. It was an open adoption....the baby girl is now off to college, and the two families have been close for all these years. This was first performed in our church by the birth mother and the adoptive mother. Many people knew the story, and it was a poignant moment. This song was performed first in 1997.

This is the twenty-fourth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment.The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view. Published by Yoonjee Kim (A0.1022804). Hyang refers the incense that is particularly used in the house of mourning in Korean culture. When one goes to offer one’s condolences to the family in mourning, the first thing you can sense (smell) is the incense, ‘Hyang’. Personally, this reminisces my grandfather’s death when I was young. The sunk atmosphere, gloomy faces, soft whispers, occasional agitations, sobs, angry cries, and a complete silence...: these are the images that occupied the six year-old girl’s mind who did not understand the meaning and grief of the death at that time. Focusing on the sound color, the piece expresses the images that I captured from the mourning house through the various timbre create by different gestures with different instruments. Consequently, three senses are conceptually represented in this music: aural(sound), visual(color), and olfactory(incense).

Byrom’s hymn was evidently popular, and was sung in churches throughout England.According to a book called Memorials of Hindley (a memoir of daily life in the town of Hindley, Lancashire, published in 1873), the hymn was a favourite of an amateur singer named Timothy Eatock, who used to sing the opening verse as a solo in the local church. This Timothy Eatock was, I believe, my great-great-great-great grandfather.
