WOMAN (Lennon) - GUITAR QUARTETFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This arrangement (for 4 guitars or large ensemble) is based on my arrangement of Woman for Hampshire Guitar Orchestra. I have raised the pitch so that we can use the full three octaves of the neck for a big, open sound. Guitar 2 plays with a Capo on the second fret to make the chords more straightforward and easier to play cleanly and securely. This is a great crowd-pleaser for an intermediate ensemble; the parts vary slightly in complexity, making it suitable for mixed ability school ensembles as well as an adult ensemble. It's one of an increasing number of popular arrangements I've made for 4 guitars, and these are being played worldwide.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! An arrangement of seven pieces from the Renaissance era by Tielmann Susato and John Dowland, for classical guitar quartet along with soprano, alto and tenor recorders. I have played these pieces in public performances, with three classical guitarists and myself playing either classical guitar or one of the recorders. Optionally the whole group could be played with four guitarists and a fifth member playing the different recorders. Additionally, my group has also included my wife playing some light ad-lib parts on bodhran (Irish-style hand drum), tambourine, and finger cymbals. Please also check out some of my other arrangements on Sheet Music Plus for classical guitar solo, and also duos for guitar with flute or voice : http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/john-pinno-sheet-music/3002745 The way I've performed these pieces, including myself and three guitarists: The Allemande gtr 1 part is played with tenor recorder playing the gtr 1 line down an octave, as shown in the tenor rec part, and on repeats, while the tenor rec. is not playing, the gtr 3 player plays the gtr 1 part, leaving the third gtr part unplayed, or the tenor recorder could play it. The Ronde in D minor is for gtr qt only On the Ronde in F major, I played the top part on an alto recorder. The Ronde and the Hupfauf are basically the same tune, but with different time signatures. On the Hupfauf I played the the gtr 1 part and there was no recorder part. For the Hoboeckentanz I played the gtr 1 part from the provided alto recorder part, which is a plain and then ornamented version. On the Ronde in C major I played the gtr 1 line on soprano recorder. The last piece in the group, Now O Now I Needs Must Part, either the soprano recorder plays the gtr 1 part through the whole tune, or alternates with one of the guitarists, as shown in the part for soprano and gtr 1.For any questions, concerns, etc. email John Pinno at jpinno093@hotmail.com

I tried to arrange the parts to be meaningful but at the same time maintaining an effective, complete and pleasing sound. I often arranged parts with individuals in mind. The piano part is there for support and filling in. In this piece I had to persuade the pupils with a very repetitive part they were just as important as the others for the sake of the whole.

The guitarist must use a capo at the third fret to bring the guitar part to the same key as the flute. Even though this is scored for flute and guitar, the melody line could be played by an oboe or a violin. Title of the 12 Sonatas: 12 Suonati a violino o cimbalo meaning: 12 Sonatas for violin and cello or harpsichord.No 8 in E minor is my favourite Corelli Sonata. Original key, matching the original violin part. I have performed this Sonata with violin with both guitar and cello with the included parts (see video). Here is supplied: Cello melody, Cello accompaniment (continue bass), Guitar accompaniment (according to the figured bass - like the harpsichord part), Facsimile of the edition by Joseph Joachim (1888 - 1891). The first print (Rome on the 1st of January 1700) was quite messy, Joachim published a very neat edition of the same, which is here included. This edition includes violin and cello parts in Duo form. Bowing and ornament suggestions are added. It took place in Bergen during the annual enrollment of accordionist by the name TREKKSPILLGALLA In Grieghallen where Lars Ek until now been unknown. It has become a tradition with a Swedish touch during these autumn hits. Strong names Ebbe Jularbo, Roland Cedermark, Norwegian-Swede Olaf Wernersen to name a few. But no one has so far been stormed the audience as Lars Ek Hot Trio did. To experience the original Frosini, Nisse Lind, Ragnar Sundquist represents something new and good in the Accordion music. Genuine original accordion music that we remember so dearly good from the 1930-40's and which had been lying idle since then. The above-mentioned debut has caused several national border crossings for the trio. The last is the spring tour in western Norway this year (1985), where I had the honor to accompany the ensemble from Nor fjord Bergen. An experience for both the audience and the musicians. Yet we feel the turbulence after Lasses bellows murmur down the valley-society’s country. At Voss reached climax when history's first Trekkspill-fan-club became a fact of Lars Ek Fan Club. In alternating western country natural emanation from our flower at the fjord to the mountain huge snowstorm where we stood firm on the Vika Mountain on our way to Voss. After waiting up to a snow plow and colon driving, Lars Ek experience a new Norway. These strong impression of the natural contrasts mixed with the local population intimacy and spontaneity and contact Lasse put on the idea of a Norway-LP, which therefore now been completed in record time. Finally, I would quote one of Norway's largest newspapers to: Lars Ek is the best we have heard - and seen - on the accordion. Do not let it go three more years before he is in Bergen again. Many years before Lloyd Webber's Cats I created my own setting for TS Eliot's Song of the Jellicles (from Old Possum's book of practical cats) Originally it was intended for choir, but the estate of T S Eliot would not let me use the poem itself as a choral piece. However, they did allow me to use the word Jellicle in my instrumental titles. Each version follows the rhythms of the T S Eliot poem. The sound sample is a live performance with Tasse on recorder and the composer on guitar. The versions available are: A duo for descant recorder and guitar (Jellicle Duo for recorder and guitar) A quartet for recorders (Jellicle Quartet for recorders) and A quartet for strings (Jellicle Catgut for string quartet) There is also available a choral version of the music following the recorder quartet version, which is a drinking song for SATB choir, with new words by Jill Mitchell called Praise to the Vine.

After a gentle introductory major chord arpeggio, the tension of the piece comes into play from the third bar where the melody line holds and repeats an augmented 4th suspension above the guitar. This note then returns as the arpeggio chords change underneath to reveal it as a minor third of a chord related by three degrees of separation from the original - C major to E flat minor. The harmonies and melody continue to sway in their relations in a curious and yet logical progression. I have provided score and parts and also a separate version of the guitar part which provides chord names and fretboard symbols; this would make it useful for educational purposes.
