Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download Minor: Dominant and Subdominant Triads. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Orff- Schulwerk. Downloadable. Op. 5. Schott Music - Digital #Q49516. Published by Schott Music - Digital
English.

Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries. The five basic German volumes of Music for Children by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Editions have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA. In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students. A few years later, Margaret Murray independently developed a version (1957-1966), essentially to fulfil the needs of United Kingdom teachers. Inevitably the considerable growth of Orff-Schulwerk in the United States led to the publication of the American Edition (1977) to satisfy the requirements of a different educational system and national heritage. Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children has proved itself to be a stimulating source of material for music teaching. Carl Orff's fundamental educational ideas have revitalized music education in nursery schools, at all levels of primary and secondary education and in special music schools, based on the concepts that: - music, dance and language are inter-related and animated through rhythm. - when children discover, invent, improvise and compose, their experience of music is intensified. These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided. it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. - movement games and activities for body awareness in space, time and flow, lead to movement improvisation and dance forms. - music and dance have been notated in many different ways in history. Various ways of writing down sounds and music, as well as playing from and interpreting different kinds of sources are being explored. Today, countless teachers and institutions are using these ideas. More and more teachers look for ways of involving their students in active music making. In particular, they seek to challenge their pupils' creativity by the use of music, dance and speech - as media of human expression - as a foundation of all education. A prerequisite for work in Orff-Schulwerk is the artistic and pedagogical training of teachers. The Orff Institute was founded in 1961 as a Department of the 'Mozarteum', in Salzburg, Austria. Training offered includes a four-year diploma course, a two-year post-graduate course, and a one-year-course in English. At the opening of the Orff Institute in Salzburg in 1963, Carl Orff ended his speech with a quotation from Schiller: 'I have done my part, now do yours.' That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide. Murray Edition English adaption, with additional material, by Margaret Murray. Besed on, and containing all the rhythmic and instrumental material from the main five volumes of the original German edition. Contents of this fifth volume: Songs and pieces making further use of the modes introduced in Vol. 4, with the addition of the more usual forms of the minor scale with the sharpened seventh. The settings of short dramatic scenes concludes the book.

Double bass and piano - very easy - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q48142 Composed by Joseph Reinagle. Arranged by Jens Schlichting and Rainer Mohrs. This edition: Sheet music. Double-Bass Library. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q48142. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q48142). Key: G major.Joseph Reinagle (1762-1825), pupil of the well-known cellist Johann Georg Schetky, was a versatile musician and composer. In 1800 he published 'A Concise Introduction to the Playing of the Violoncello' from which the three movements of the Sonatina have been taken. With its appealing melody and classical style, this music closes a major gap in the beginner's literature for double bass and piano. Reinagle's Sonatina is highly recommended for pupils' concerts and competitions. The musical text is based on the text of the first edition, using the original bowing and phrasing. Dynamic indications have been added by the editor as suggestions for lessons.

Musical Offering (Musical Sacrifice)
2 violins, viola, 2 cellos, violone (double bass), organ, Querflute and bassoon - intermed…
(+)
2 violins, viola, 2 cellos, violone (double bass), organ, Querflute and bassoon - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q23967 Original version based on Bach's first edition of 1747. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. This edition: set of parts. L’enchaînement des différents mouvements de l'Offrande musicale était, jusqu’à maintenant, resté incertain. Après un vaste examen théorique de ce problème publié dans un livre, l'éditeur présente maintenant ses conclusions sous forme de partition. Downloadable, Set of parts. Schott Music - Digital #Q23967. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q23967). The reason for the composition of this work is well-known: Bach's encounter with Frederick the Great and the story of the 'royal theme' which the King of Prussia 'deigned to play' on a pianoforte and which Bach 'was to execute in a fugue'. The sequence of the individual movements of the composition, however, has been uncertain up to now. After an extensive theoretical examination of this problem in his book 'Johann Sebastian Bachs Musicalisches Opfer', the editor now presents his results in the form of a sheet music edition.

2 flutes, cello (viola da gamba) and piano (basso continuo) - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q16177 Composed by Johann Ludwig Krebs. This edition: Sheet music. Il Flauto traverso. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q16177. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q16177). Key: B minor.Johann Ludwig Krebs (1713-1780) was a student of Johann Sebastian Bach who greatly valued his musical accomplishments and scholarly knowledge. During his time in Zwickau (1737-43) Krebs composed a collection of six trio sonatas 'Denen Liebhabern der Instrumental-Music zum angenehmen Zeitvertreib', the second of which is the sonata published here. Although still in the formal tradition of the sonata da chiesa, the four-movement church sonata, it already points to the post Baroque era, especially with regard to the melody, to the gallant sentimental movements. This very charming work has been out of print for a long time and is now republished in the Edition Schott.

'When Rivers Flow' is a simple melody that sits on a rippling ostinato figure with various twists and turns in the piece. 'Free As A Bird' again is a simple melody that glides above a changing arpeggiated landscape of harmony. Both pieces are aimed at the developing intermediate player.

Duration 12 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q2922. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q2922). Hans Werner Henze used original music by Scarlatti, Handel and Vivaldi to evoke the baroque lifestyle for a TV film of José Montes-Baquer based on the novella Concierto Barocco by the Cuban Alejo Carpentier; the film music of L’amour à mort by the French master director Alain Resnais was turned into a sonata by Henze. -Hans Werner Henze.

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q25928 Pentatonic. Composed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. Arranged by Arnold Walter and Doreen Hall. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Orff-Schulwerk. Downloadable, Vocal and performing score. Op. 1. Schott Music - Digital #Q25928. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q25928). English.Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries. The five basic German volumes of Music for Children by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Edition have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA. In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared, an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. More and more teachers look for ways of invovling their students in active music making. Hall/Walter Edition Based on Volumes 1, 2 and 4 of the original German Edition musik für Kinder, english adaption with additional material by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter.

These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. Contents of this fourth volume: Songs and pieces using the full range of the aeolian, dorian and phrygian modes. Accompaniements are founded on drone bass with the later addition of simple chords.

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47388 Major: Drone Bass-Triads. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Songs - Orff Schulwerk - pieces. Orff-Schulwerk. Downloadable, Vocal and performing score. Op. 2. Schott Music - Digital #Q47388. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47388). Instrumental Duet Harpsichord,Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808939 Composed by Domenico Scarlatti. Arranged by Fabrizio Aiello. Baroque,Classical. Score and parts. 32 pages. Preludio s.r.l. #5712611. Published by Preludio s.r.l. (A0.808939). The over 550 harpsichord sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti constitute one of the highest peaks of 18th century instrumental music. Despite being structured in a single movement, based on a theme and divided into two parts with a refrain, his sonatas have been shown to be pieces of remarkable originality. Their style is authentic and very bright, revealing a truly innovative and creative spirit with extremely daring and unconventional dissonances and modulations. The manifold contaminations come from the musical universe of that time: from the concert to the cantata, from the popular elements to the Spanish dance rhythms. Various sounds are recalled through the spontaneous, evocative and natural timbre of the harpsichord: from the orchestral ones to those of two other famous pinch instruments, such as the guitar and the harp. The greatest researcher on Domenico Scarlatti, Ralph Kirkpatrick, claimed: «Despite being a composer for harpsichord, and although almost all his compositions are conceived for the harpsichord language, his musical skills, more important than the sound effect, can be enhanced on any instrument».This aspect is aptly reflected in the harp versions of Scarlatti’s sonatas, which are primarily a way to show how the harp can represent the spirit and the playfulness of these compositions. Apparently, this instrument is one of the most suitable to capture the purity of the musical textures of these sonatas and their perfect balance between musical mathematics and feelings. Moreover, the didactic purposes of these adaptations are notable, since the player is faced with fast scales, double stops, repeated notes, broken octaves, complex arpeggios, embellishments and other unusual passages pervaded by a virtuoso language.By carefully selecting every single sonata and choosing the most suitable fingerings to highlight key phrases, Fabrizio Aiello has carried out a praiseworthy work which plays a crucial role in enriching the harp repertoire.Susanna Bertuccioli

3 flutes (violins, oboes) - easy to intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q4774 Sonatas 2, 5, 6. Composed by Joseph Bodin de Boismortier. This edition: performance score. Il Flauto traverso. Downloadable, Performance score. Op. 7. Schott Music - Digital #Q4774. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q4774).

Guitar (classical) - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: M0.30072EB Composed by Rovshan Mamedkuliev. Arranged by Rovshan Mamedkuliev. Solos/Studies, World. European. E-book. Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music #30072EB. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music (M0.30072EB). ISBN 9781619114654. 8.75x11.75 inches. This collection contains arrangements by one of the leading guitarists of the new generation, Rovshan Mamedkuliev. Rovshan invites guitar lovers to explore Russian music of the 19th century. Alexander Borodin (1833 - 1887), member of the famous Mighty Handful, wrote his Petite Suite for the piano. The four pieces presented in this collection barely utilize any of the piano's idiomatic techniques. Though unfamiliar to the guitar until the present day, the selected miniatures are wonderfully suited to its technical and timbral capabilities, especially Serenade. Thanks to the clearly defined genre of Nocturne, the vivid imagery of Reverie and the folk colour and bell-like melodiousness of In the Cloister, the four pieces, rich in quality and substance, will be a valuable contribution to the guitar repertoire. Anatoly Lyadov (1855 - 1914) used to joke that he could not stand more than five continuous minutes of music. The genius of musical miniature created his compositions to be laconic and refined in form, simple yet elegant. Lyadov's contemporaries called his pieces tiny pearls of finest finishing and compared the composer himself to a jeweler. His three preludes from op.36, op.39, and op.40, will become a fulfilling experience for the guitarist as the music explores the rich palette of the mysterious Russian soul, ranging from stormy aspirations to dreamlike, elegiac moods - expressed by the composer in but a few sounds.
