2 Violine I - 2 Violine II - 1 Viola - 2 Basso 2 cellos, string orchestra and basso continuo - intermediate - SKU: S9.Q19182 Urtext. Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. This edition: additional parts. Concertino. Parmi les concertos de Vivaldi, plus de deux douzaines sont dédiés au violoncelle, dont le plus célèbre de tous, le double concerto en sol mineur (RV 531). Nouvelle édition critique de l’œuvre, basée sur les sources. Downloadable, Additional parts. Schott Music - Digital #Q19182. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19182). Key: G minor. The genre of the violoncello concerto was born in 17th-century Italy. Thanks to the Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678–1741), there exists today not only a wealth of magnificent violin concertos but also quite a number of cello concertos to whose development he contributed considerably. More than two dozens of his concertos are dedicated to the violoncello, including the probably most famous double concerto: the Concerto for two violoncellos, string orchestra and basso continuo in G minor (RV 531) written after 1770. The sonorous work with its playful outer movements and expressive largo is published in this critical new edition on the basis of the sources.

Clarinet, viola, piano - difficult - SKU: S9.Q42473 Five pieces in fairy-tale style for clarinet, viola and piano. Composed by Joerg Widmann. This edition: score and parts. Narrative - fairy tale - fairy tales - Robert Schumann - depth psychology. 5 Stücke im Märchenton für Klarinette, Viola und Klavier. Downloadable, Score and parts. Duration 29 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q42473. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q42473). As far back as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with fairy tales: with their archetypal characters and set phrases like ‘Once upon a time …’ and ‘… they all lived happily ever after’. Fairy tales were however also a source of unrest for me as a seismograph of mankind’s underlying primal fears and desires. So as a performer and composer I have always felt that Robert Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen [Fairy Tales] (scored for the same instrumentation as my own composition) was a disjointed, complex contemporary work – despite the innocence and naivety of its initial appearance. I therefore do not intend my own Es war einmal … [Once upon a time …] to be a mere sentimental, nostalgic flight into the distant past, but as a naive and fantastical alternative concept to our genuine world with all its upheavals. Jörg Widmann.

Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1347202). Gustav Holst: Japanese Suite Op.33Mvt.I Ceremonial DanceArranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet)2nd oboe plays cor anglaisClarinet parts are in AThe Japanese Suite was written at the request of the dancer Michio Ito, who was working in London in 1915.Most of the principal themes are traditional Japanese tunes, which Ito provided to Holst by whistling them. The lone exception is the “Dance of the Marionette,†which is original to Holst.Despite its origins, there is little that is “Japanese-sounding†about the resulting suite. Rather, Holst set these tunes in the same kinds of harmonies and textures that he was using in his other works, also taking the opportunity to experiment with other influences that were in the air at this time, an openness few of his British contemporaries shared. It is not known if the suite was ever used for Ito’s dance performances, but in September 1919 it did become the first of Holst’s works to be performed at a Promenade Concert, after which it received a handful of performances in the British provinces. The suite consists of six parts including a prelude and an interlude:Prelude: Song of the fishermanCeremonial dance (This arrangement)Dance of the marionettesInterlude: Song of the fishermanDance under the cherry treeFinale: Dance of the wolvesIt is unknown whether Ito did indeed use the music. The first concert performance  was during the Proms of September 1, 1919 under the direction of Holst himself.

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - SKU: A0.768500 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by Roar Kvam. Classical,Concert. 114 pages. KVAMusic Edition #3454071. Published by KVAMusic Edition (A0.768500). About 1785, Haydn received a commission to write a series of concertos for Ferdinand IV, King of Naples and the Twin Sicilies. It was a very curious commission; for these concertos were to be written for a pair of strange instruments, the so-called Lira organizzata. The lira was a favourite instrument of the lazzaroni, the common people of Neaples: the Bourbon King, though often a rough and uncouth monarch, had a deep affection for his people. and for all their peculiar customs, and it is characteristic that his favourite musical instrument should have been that so beloved by his people. In a letter from the King of Neaples there are two points which explain much of the peculiar character of Haydn’s concertos for the King: the first is the restricted tonal range of all the works, C, F and G major are the only principal keys allowed. The second is the range of the lira itself which is about that of an oboe. Bearing these limitations in mind, Haydn did not attempt to write complicated double concertos, but rather ensemble music for two lire, two violins, two violas, cello and two horns, in other words, 9 solo instruments. (This edition: Flute, oboe, two clarinets, two basset horns, bassoon, contrabass and two horns). Moreover, he neatly combined the concerto form with that of the divertimento: there is often no strict division into solo and tutti, but constant intermingling of both. Wonderful music by Haydn, originally written for a mixed ensemble of 2 liras, 2 Horns and strings, but this is a transcription for a classical wind ensemble, a great companion for a concert together with i.e. Mozart’s Gran Partita, since it has almost the same instrumentation.

Small Ensemble,Strings Harpsichord,Oboe - Level 4 - SKU: A0.836700 Composed by Brian Joyce. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 78 pages. Brian Joyce #2881183. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836700). An 18-minute concerto in three movements for oboe, harpsichord and string quartet. From the program notes . . . .I can imagine readers glancing over a recital program and seeing that it includes a work for oboe, harpsichord and string quartet. They steel themselves against the onset of what promises to be a dull and dreary piece played by unsmiling people in black suits. My imaginary audience may be pleased to find that this Petit Concert is nothing of the sort. It is actually a rather relaxed piece, combining something of the 18th century Rococo (which was never very serious to begin with) and Steely Dan-influenced Hindemith. But just as a chef will hide the most unlikely ingredients in his sauces and confections, I hope I have concealed these disparate influences in a piece which speaks with its own voice. Here, then, is a short concerto with little if any overt virtuosity; it is offered simple for the enjoyment of players and audience alike. In this it perhaps comes round full circle to composers like François Couperin who preferred to please their listeners rather than stun them.Relaxed the piece may be. To be sure, ranges and techniques are far from extreme and there are plenty of triadic sonorities and almost normal functional harmony here. But there are also moments of jazz-inflected chromaticism and frequent meter changes to contend with. It will take players who can hold their own in a mildly dissonant sound world to pull this off. Careful attention to dynamics, tight ensemble and flawless intonation are a must, but diligent players will be rewarded with an immediate audience-pleaser.A separate harpsichord part is included for players who prefer not to read from the score. Equal temperament and a=440 are assumed for the harpsichord. A two manual instrument is preferred but not absolutely necessary.

Theresa Koon #5722325. Published by Theresa Koon (A0.1023434). I Come from Water is a chamber work for Mezzo-soprano, Baritone, Alto Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Violin, Cello and, briefly, Bass Drum. The piece was inspired by news that the US may be planning to perform missile tests in the Pacific Ocean in the vicinity of the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Scientific research is leading to speculation that these tests could be harmful to water creatures over a large area surrounding the testing sites. In particular, scientists are concerned that the tests may cause animals who orient themselves via sound waves, such as dolphins and whales, to become permanently deaf. The music is intended to evoke impressions of a life in water, beginning with non-verbal communication between fish in streams. Images, sensations and sounds of water are expressed throughout the piece as salmon make their way from streams to rivers to the ocean. Eventually, we hear a sense of quiet communion in the ocean, which is interrupted by three explosions. The water creatures respond with panic, followed by silence. The final measures are intended to express grieving.

Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813678 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6473857. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813678). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Euphonium Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection, including a version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef, if you would prefer. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maesto.

Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for an Oboe Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, will continue to entertain bot.

String Ensemble,String Quintet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813687 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6473975. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813687). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (String Quintet) - Intermediate - . Inasmuch as there was no tuba, the French Horn part, played by myself, had to play really low notes. If required, separate parts can be sent via email, if shown purchase proof.
