Brass Quintet Trombone,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1249441 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Chamber,Christian,Easter,Historic. 29 pages. Regis Bookshar #842483. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1249441). Three selections based on Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ lay in death's bonds) (from Cantata No.  4, BMV  4) - Johann Sebastian Bach - Brass Quintet (3 Trps, 2 Trbs) - Advanced /Intermediate - Digital Download.Cantata No.  4, BMV  4, Christ lag in Todesbanden (alsp spelled Todes banden) (Christ lay in death's bonds is a cantata for Easter written by Johann Sebastian Bach and is his earliest surviving Church Cantata. It was probably written in 1707 when he was 22 years old. It is a Chorale Cantata, a style in which both the text and music are based on a hymn. In this instance, the source was Martin Luther's hymn of the same name which became a main Easter hymn in German Lutheranism.Regsi Bookshar has transcribed and arranged three selections based on this hymn tune, two from Bach's Cantata No.  4, BMV  4, and also his Chorale Prelude, BMV 625. They may be played individually or as a trilogy and each movement is more complex than the previous one. The first selection in this trilogy is the Chorale, Christ lag in Todesbanden, the final chorus from his Cantata No.  4, a straightforward chorale setting of the hymn (Regis has also added a fifth part). This is followed by Bach's Chorale Prelude, BMV 625, a piece from his Orgelbuchlein (Little Organ Book), a collection of 46 Preludes for organ, written almost exclusively during the 1708-1717 period, while Bach was court organist at Weimar. For the final selection, Regis has placed the polyphonic and imitative chorus, Es war ein wunderlicher Krieg, da Tod und Leben rungen (It was a strange battle, that death and life waged), which Bach had placed in the middle of his Cantata No.  4.This arrangement is for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 3 Bb Trumpets and 2 Trombones. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (29 pages).I hope you will enjoy playing these selections and please search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. Ther are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. I think you will be pleased with what you may find.

Small Ensemble Clarinet,Flute,Oboe,Trumpet,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811780 Composed by Josepg Bodin De Boismortier (1689 - 1755). Arranged by Edited & arranged by Pat Spence. Baroque,Concert,Graduation,Standards. Score and parts. 16 pages. Piper Publications #6285081. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811780). This Suite is the last of a set of six first published by Boivin in Paris in 1727 for two musettes (bagpipes). This arrangement is for pairs of flutes or oboes or violins or two different instruments. It is also suitable for a pair of clarinets or trumpets. The five movements, Prelude, Rondeau. Passacaille, Boureé, Brunette & a pair of Menuets are suitable for players of early intermediate standard and above. The original edition used the ‘violin clef’ which placed the g above middle c on the bottom line of the stave instead of the line above as is usual today. The notation has been modernised for ease of reading. All edits have been indicated using dashed lines or parentheses ( ). No dynamics are marked in the original edition since bagpipes do not usually have means of volume control. The dynamics I have added (in parentheses) are suggestions only. The Suite would have been bought and played by flute, oboe and violin players as well as bagpipers. Boismortier wrote and published a substantial number of chamber works aimed at amateur players which were very popular and made him a very wealthy man.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,English Horn,Flute - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1408461 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Daniel Kaplan. Baroque,Classical. 54 pages. Daniel Kaplan #991049. Published by Daniel Kaplan (A0.1408461). Arrangement for woodwind quintet by Daniel Kaplan of Vivaldi's wonderful Concerto Grosso Op. 3 No. 11, RV 565 (from his L'Estro Armonico of 1711). Note especially the fantastic fugue that constitutes the third movement, and the delectable sicilienne of the fourth movement. This is the concerto that Bach arranged as his Organ Concerto No 3 (BWV 596), but Vivaldi's original version is fleeter and has greater rhythmic drive (although, in various places, Bach's example was followed in regard to realization of the figured bass and ornamentation). This is part of Kaplan's project to arrange great classics for woodwind quintet, of which several arrangements have now been completed. The woodwind quintet has the intimacy of chamber music, yet is ideal to bring out the individual lines of contrapuntal pieces such as fugues. (Note that Kaplan's woodwind-quintet arrangement of the six Mozart–Bach Preludes and Fugues, K. 404a, is also avaiable on this website.).

Double Bass,Instrumental Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552085 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Individual part. 2 pages. Jmsgu3 #6116385. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552085). The famous wedding classic arranged for Solo Contrabass.Duration: 2:12Score: 2 pages. The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Solo Contrabass. A great choice for weddings & receptions! Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.

Duration: ca. 2:30 The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Oboe d'Amore & Harp. Brass Ensemble Trombone,Trumpet - Digital Download SKU: A0.1044869 Composed by Elizabeth Raum. 20th Century. Score and parts. 47 pages. Gordon Cherry #649485. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1044869). Elizabeth Raum's Quartet for Brass was written in 1980 and is just now being published for the first time. The work is in four movements: 1. Prelude, 2. Scherzo and Blues, 3. Passacaglia and Fugue and 4. Rondo. It is written for two Trumpets in B-flat, Tenor Trombone and Bass Trombone for advanced performers and is about 15 minutes in length. The music is very expressive and tonal. Below is a brief description of the work by the composer, Elizabeth Raum. This piece is very much based on various musical forms. The Prelude has opened many a musical work from Baroque to the present. Then follows Scherzo and Blues, a light-hearted bonbon moving into a lazy blues. Next is pure Baroque starting with a Passacaglia followed by a Fugue based on the Passacaglia progression. And finally finishing up with the Rondo, in a major key, light-hearted, canonic in places, with a feeling of the evolution of musical form.

Large Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955740 Composed by Phil Thrift. Instructional. Score and parts. 26 pages. Phil Thrift #6327375. Published by Phil Thrift (A0.955740). Little Suite for a Jubilee Occasion was written for the 20th anniversary of a music society. It is intended for junior players and can be performed on virtually any combination of five or more woodwind and/or brass instruments. It is based on my own experience of working with such groups. The three short movements – Prelude, Invention, Contrapunctus – are in different keys and encompass different playing styles – majestic, playful, solemn. In Prelude and Invention, a motif played in a first part is repeated in a second part, but those parts alternate, so sometimes the first part follows the second part instead. All three movements are essentially in just three parts and so in many instances different parts are actually identical, dividing only at certain places. The parts included are suitable for the instruments found in groups of learners:flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, bassoonEb alto sax, Bb tenor saxBb trumpet, F/Eb horn, trombone (TC/BC), euphonium (TC/BC), tuba, Bb/Eb bassThe high flute/oboe part is optional, likewise the xylophone and drum parts. If you are not using drummers, then simply omit measures 22 and 23 and begin the Invention at measure 24.In the Contrapunctus it might be a nice effect to double Part 5 on an organ.

Woodwind Quartet - Grade 2 - Digital Download SKU: B0.PDF-BAND253 Composed by Sam Rainey. NYC Traffic Jam is a compelling choice for Grade 2 level band students. Multicultural. Score and Parts. 26 pages. PDF Band Music #PDF-BAND253. Published by PDF Band Music (B0.PDF-BAND253). 8.5 x 11 inches.Notes from the composer:This piece was partially inspired by Leonard Bernstein's Prelude Fugue and Riffs which includes a sax quartet section. The title is not too important to me, it could just as easily be called Sax Quartet No.1. It is not program music. NYC Traffic Jam received 1st place in the 2017 Jack Stone Award for New Music which is a national composition competition for all community college composers. It showcases my love of jazz as well as showcasing many different styles, rhythms, and melodies which are exchanged constantly throughout the piece in order to keep the listener interested.Sam Rainey is currently attending North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He intends to pursue a degree in composition at the University of Idaho.
