Piper Publications #3662763. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811685). The second of Haydn's opus 5 quartets for flute, violin, viola and cello published by Hummel in 1767. Unlike the first quartet, the cello part is figured though this piece, like the first, does not need a keyboard. The figuring may have been an after thought and would have enabled the amateur players for whom the published edition was intended to play it with the resources available.There are 4 movements, Presto assai, Minuet & Trio, Adagio & Presto assai. The quartet will be enjoyed by good amateur and professional players and makes a good companion piece in a concert with any of the Mozart flute quartets written 20 years later. The quartet has been lightly edited: obvious mistakes have been corrected without comment. Dynamics added in parenthesis ( ), slurs in dashed lines, staccato dots have been continued throughout passages where only the first part of a section or the first player has the phrasing indicated. The final chords of both sections of the final movement in the original Hummel edition were given different note lengths: the cello a quaver/8th note, viola and violin crotchet/quarter note and the flute a dotted crotchet/quarter note. In both instances all parts play a crotchet/quarter note. The reason for this is unclear; it may have been a Haydn joke comment on the idiosyncrasies of the players or possibly an adjustment for the acoustics of the room in which the piece was played. It seems to have been deliberate because it appears only at the final cadence of both sections.

PRESTO (Mozart K522) The Horse Of The Year Show TV Theme - 3 GUITARS OR LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This is part of the fourth movement - Presto - of Mozart’s K522 for string quartet and two horns. It’s commonly known as “A Musical Jokeâ€, though the correct translation is “Some Musical Funâ€. In the UK, a sanitised version with added drumbeat and electric bass was used as the TV theme music to “The Horse Of The Year Showâ€. My arrangement has just some of the thematic material of the original, yet still fills a music stand. An optional repeat extends the piece to a little over 3 minutes. Mozart intended the piece as a showcase of how NOT to write, and the Presto contains some extraordinary and modern-sounding key changes as well as some rather odd counterpoint. The original Presto finishes with an unexpected burst into 4 different keys, all sounding together after one of the longest build-ups to an ending you’ll ever hear. My setting for 3 guitars ends in 3 of the 4 keys that Mozart burst into. Most audiences would probably associate this with a catastrophic disaster, so I’ve included a second ending that stays in key for a nice happy ending! Rather than the isolated quavers (eighth notes) and rests, I’ve used staccato marks to make a version that is much easier to read yet has exactly the same articulation. I hope you enjoy this piece!

Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1043310). You Are So Beautiful is a song written by Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher that was first released in 1974 on Preston's ninth studio album, The Kids & Me. It was also the B-side of his single Struttin'. Later that same year, English singer Joe Cocker released a slower version of the song on his album I Can Stand a Little Rain. Cocker's version was produced by Jim Price, and released as a single in November 1974.It became Cocker's highest charting solo hit, peaking at number five on the United States' Billboard Hot 100 (Cocker's biggest hit on the pop chart was Up Where We Belong, a duet with Jennifer Warnes from the 1982 film An Officer And A Gentleman, which reached number 1) and at number four on Canada's Top Singles chart. Some sources credit Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys with contributing to the song's genesis.Wilson performed the song live with the Beach Boys from the late 1970s onwards. Kenny Rankin, Ray Stevens, Kenny Rogers, Bonnie Tyler and Brian Kennedy are also among the artists who have covered You Are So Beautiful. Commentators have opined that the piece's purpose is satirical – that [its] harmonic and rhythmic gaffes serve to parody the work of incompetent composers – though Mozart himself is not known to have revealed his actual intentions.The title A Musical Joke might be a poor rendering of the German original: Spaß does not necessarily connote the jocular, for which the word Scherzwould more likely be used. In Fritz Spiegl's view, a more accurate translation would be Some Musical Fun. The sometimes-mentioned nicknames Dorfmusikantensextett (village musicians' sextet) and Bauernsinfonie (farmers' symphony) were added after Mozart's death.The piece consists of four movements and takes about 20 minutes to perform.
