Published by Michael Barrera (A0.998582). Https://www.michaelbarreraflute.com/shop/p/planets-mars-flute Program Notes In ancient Roman mythology, Mars was the god of war and the most prominent military god. The planet itself is often referred to as the “Red Planet†due to the reddish hue of its surface. Its two moons Phobos and Deimos, meaning panic and terror respectively, are named after the sons of Mars who would accompany him into battle. The movement is unrelenting and fierce, flaunting the ravaging power of war. Instrumentation 2 Piccolos 6 Flutes 3 Alto Flutes 2 Bass Flutes 1 Contrabass Flute Parts may be doubled with more players as necessary. The contrabass flute part may be omitted if needed.

Contemporary. Brass Band. 57 pages. Michael Pilley Music #4331141. Published by Michael Pilley Music (A0.746211). Full of anger and angst, The Red Planet portrays the closest neighbour to Earth as a vicious, warlike planet. Drawing on the vastness of space to create a never ending atmosphere, this march should be played with ferocity and purpose, as if Mars itself was compelling you to declare war on the universe.Winner of the Cardiff UniBrass Composition Competition in 2014, The Red Planet is a march for full band at a 1st section difficulty. The piece can be underscored by the first track from NASA’s Symphonies of the Planets and features corrugaphones and thundersheets in the percussion section.More music can be found at www.michaelpilleymusic.com and follow me at https://www.facebook.com/MichaelPilleyMusic/ or https://twitter.com/MPilleyMusic

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 4 - SKU: A0.824088 Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by Tim TK Murray. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. 14 pages. TK (Tim) Murray #5374989. Published by TK (Tim) Murray (A0.824088). Saint-Saens' 'Pas redouble' is in the style of a Military Galop. It is a high energy, strongly rhythmic, exuberant romp and is great fun to play and listen to. It would make a brilliant encore and It has been provided with a cut if you wish to play a shorter version. It is equally effective as a group item and is also available to buy as part of Romantic Violins Vol.2. Originally from Glasgow, Timothy studied at the Royal College of Music, London and the Banff Centre, Canada. He was the Pianist for the Isis Piano Trio and Ballet Creations and is now in demand as an accompanist and chamber musician having performed with artists such as Dame Sarah Connolly and Tasmin Little. He has toured widely internationally and has recorded for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM as well as TV appearances in Russia and Egypt. Murray’s compositions have been recorded by The Fibbonnaci Sequence and Piers Lane among others with reviews such as ‘Corruscating’ (Independent) and ‘Highly imaginative’ (The Sunday Times). Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 3 - SKU: A0.797768 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop,Rock. Score and parts. 22 pages. Derek Hasted #5222177. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797768). PENNY LANE - GUITAR QUARTET with optional FIFTH PART DESCANTFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar. Derek Hasted writes This piece requires no introduction, except to say that this quartet arrangement is mixed ability from early intermediate to intermediate. There's an optional 5th (descant) line that captures the spirit of the piccolo trumpet of the original, but which is tailored to the strengths and restrictions of the guitar. This optional descant requires a strong player with nimble fingers and a good sense of rhythm. In a school ensemble, it will be fun for everyone to see the teacher sweat a bit on the fastest sections. But the piece works well without the descant as well...My arrangement captures the constant key changes of the original version, and it's played with a shuffle or swing rhythm (except for the semiquavers - the 16th notes - in the optional descant which are played in straight rhythm as per the original). This arrangement was a firm favourite with the Hampshire Guitar Orchestra (HAGO) and their audiences and the soundclip alongside the score on the SMP website is from a recording made live in concert.I hope you enjoy this piece as much as HAGO did!

Regis Bookshar #6476691. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813776). Thaxted (Bb) (String Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of Thaxted, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a String Quintet, consisting of 2 Violins, 1 Viola, 1 Violoncello and 1 Double Bass (which has the lead), he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Thaxted based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, wil.

Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There is also a version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, if you would prefer. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Thaxted based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gust.
