Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.898935 Composed by Gilad Cohen. Contemporary. Score and parts. 107 pages. Gilad Cohen #4367110. Published by Gilad Cohen (A0.898935). Around the Cauldron was inspired by the three witches from Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. With a nod to multi-movement pieces such as Schumann's Scenes From Childhood and Mussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition, Around the Cauldron is comprised of seven short scenes, each of which evokes a mood that resonates with an image of three witches gathered around a cauldron in a dark forest, muttering spells, and adding selected creatures to a bubbling stew. The movements carry individual titles: In Dusk, Pounce, Transmutation, Boiling, Witches Waltz, Newts’ Lament, and Sacrificial. Most of the melodies in the piece were tailored to fit lines from the original Shakespearean text and were also arranged as songs for a production of Macbeth at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Thus, the main theme sets the play’s immortal opening words: Fair is foul and foul is fair / Hover through the fog and filthy air. Honoring the three witches, the piece reflects the number three in its rhythms, which highlight groups of three beats; in its themes, which are constructed of three phrases; and in its instrumentation, which suggests that each instrument represents a different witch. Around the Cauldron was commissioned by Concert Artists Guild with support from the Adele and John Gray Endowment Fund for Lysander Piano Trio, which is fittingly named after another Shakespearean character.

String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1200264 By Han-Ki Kim. By Traditional. Arranged by Han-Ki Kim. Chamber,Classical,Instructional,Standards,Traditional. 26 pages. Han-Ki Kim #799067. Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.1200264). Arirang for Violin, Cello and String Orchestra “Arirang†is a representative folk song of Korea and a famous song widely known around the world. This concerto was composed to give value as an artistic literature to such a familiar theme. In this concerto “Arirangâ€, I want both the performers and the audience to feel “musical sympathyâ€.Following the short and fast introduction in 3/4 time, it is connected in the form of 5 variations in 6/8 time. Each variation expresses a different musical atmosphere, performance speed, or change in composition. In general, the main melody is mainly played by the first violin, but as far as the main melody is concerned, in this music, high-pitched instruments and low-pitched instruments intersect and cycle in equal positions, not in a melodicline relationship. After the fourth variation, a virtuosic solo of the movement alone is connected, and after the finale with a broad and majestic atmosphere, it ends with a short and lively coda with the same character as the beginning. Attached file is played by S.Orchestra just for a reference.

Instrumental Duet,Piano Baritone Horn TC,Euphonium,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.842571 Composed by Gioachino Rossini. Arranged by Sean Brennan. Classical,Concert,Graduation,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 19 pages. Bl_music #6643225. Published by bl_music (A0.842571). Theme and Variations by G. Rossini, arr. Brennan for Solo Euphonium/Baritone with Piano accompaniment This edition is the theme and variations from Rossini's Introduction, Theme and Variations originally for clarinet and orchestra. This version has been performed and recorded by a number of internationally renowned Euphonium soloists. We first published the complete Introduction, Theme and Variations for Euphonium in 1991 and performed it on a 1830s ophicleide and a 1840s square piano in 1993. This edition comes with a shortened introduction, theme and variations. Duration around 8 ½ min. Solo part in treble and bass clef.Message from Sean Brennan:This arrangement, or more correctly transcription, was first published by us in 1991, although its origins go back much further than that. I do remember being transfixed in the 1970s by Richard Stoltzman’s recording of the original form of the work for clarinet and orchestra. I was convinced it would work for Euphonium and that one day there would be players with the technique, and above all musicality, to bring it off. For me, this vision came true in 1994 when we first performed the piece in Birmingham in 2004, and then again 10 years later when David Thornton and the Black Dyke Band recorded the Theme and Variations. Rossini composed the Introduction, Theme and Variations for clarinet and orchestra in 1810 at the request of a fellow student at the Conservatorio di Bologna. Although the autograph score has been lost, and some musicologists have questioned the authenticity of the work, I find no reason for doubt since Rossini recycled some of the material in later works, and apart from that his evervascent musical personality is abundant from beginning to end.

Introduction, Theme and Variations on "La Cabra Mocha" for Youth Orchestra

Full Orchestra Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon, French Horns in F I and II, Trumpet in Bb, Trombone, Percussion, (Timpani, Glockenspiel), Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello, Double bass - Advanced - Digital Download SKU: 2S.4251133750706 Composed by Silvano A. Pagliuca-Mena. Jazz. Score and Parts. 46 pages. Soundnotation #4251133750706. Published by Soundnotation (2S.4251133750706). La Cabra Mocha (Full Score) is a Gaita de Furro. Because it belongs to the folklore of Zulia, its origin remains unclear and a dispute over the authorship of the composition currently revolves around Pradelio Hernandez and Jesus Lozano. Although its date of origin is considered equally indefinable for the same reason, its official appearance can be narrowed down to the middle of the 20th century. Probably it's much older, but due to the technological improvements of music recording, the piece became popular only later. La Cabra Mocha is a musical jewel that tells the story of a nation who has a wisdom and finds in music the way to express itself. The history of its transculturation is remarkable, although it also carries contradictions, depending on the way of representing. Sometimes its imposed stereotypes are accepted by society due to a lack of self-knowledge, which ultimately leads to a change of identity, where some elements are transfigured and others are replaced. Arranging a Gaita de Furro for youth orchestra makes sense for the following reasons: First and foremost, the self-knowledge of a society should start from the childhood and should be cultivated and carried on from generation to generation, thereby conserved. Moreover, a lack of a pedagogical act, thus a pedagogical repertoire, is one of the main causes for the ignorance of Venezuelan music. Another important aspect is the transformation or adaptation as a process of maintaining Venezuelan musical culture. Many children already present the intention of the composition by drawing their attention to the formation of the orchestra, which represents a globally unified language as a network of distribution and which is locally independent. Wherever the composition is played - each orchestra will be able to maintain the quality and expressiveness of the piece without hiding its identity. The piece opens with a fanfare introduction of the Cabra Mocha, followed by a drum roll, which reminds of the drummer's traditional reputation and introduces the theme whose chorus is represented by the tutti and its verses by the soli. The first variation consists of a two-bar rhythm and major tonality, full of wit and cunning. The following variation is an Adagio with a three-part rhythm in minor. Then the timpani return to initiate the theme, this time shortened by its Reprise, which finally leads to a polyphonic Codetta. On an interpretative level, the return of variation can be compared with the return of education and thus, to a certain extent, improvisation. This is a very striking factor of traditional music, which is represented as a fitting metaphor in the form of harmonic and rhythmic reference within the composition. Introduccion, Tema y Variaciones sobre la Cabra Mocha was composed in the last weeks of 2012 and won the first prize in the composition competition for the Youth Orchestra of Zulia, which was awarded by the Venezuelan Orchestra in its first edition in 2013. At the beginning of 2014 Silvano Pagliuca-Mena made a small revision of the piece. Silvano Antonio Pagliuca Mena was born on 10 May 1991 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Despite his Italian and Spanish roots, he has always remained true to his love for the music of his homeland, which is why his compositions always carry Venezuelan impressions, but also influences like academic western music, jazz and popular music.

Brass Quartet Cornet,Horn,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1347230 Composed by Philippe De Vitry. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Medieval. 10 pages. Jmsgu3 #932030. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1347230). The motet O canenda/Rex regum by Philippe de Vitry is significant as it represents the emergence of the classic isorhythmic motet, which simultaneously sets a pair of texts in its two upper voices. Philippe de Vitry, a 14th-century French composer, is considered a leading figure in the changes that occurred in French music around 1325. His motets, including O canenda/Rex regum, are regarded as strikingly individual, exploiting unique structural ideas. They are part of the early development of the ars nova style of composition, which introduced new rhythmic and notational techniques. The structure of Philippe de Vitry's motet O canenda/Rex regum is characterized by the classic isorhythmic motet, which sets a pair of texts simultaneously in its two upper voices. This composition represents the emergence of the ars nova style of late medieval music, introducing new rhythmic and notational techniques. The repeated rhythmic patterns of the tenor do not necessarily accord with melodic ones, and the motet is known for packing symbols and thematic subtleties into each short piece. Philippe de Vitry's motets, including O canenda/Rex regum, are strikingly individual, contributing to the evolution of musical forms and representing innovative trends in 14th-century French music. The text of motets from this period often contained religious, secular, or courtly love themes. The words rex regum et dominus dominancium from the motet evoke the notion of an earthly king who emulates Christ on his heavenly seat as he assumes his throne. The text likely reflects the religious or secular themes commonly found in motet compositions of that era. Philippe de Vitry, a French composer, poet, and music theorist, was born on October 31, 1291, and died on June 9, 1361. Philippe de Vitry's O Canenda/Rex regum was composed around 1320. He was appointed Bishop of Meaux on 3 January 1351 and held this post until his death.

Grant Horsley #1051064. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1473258). There is a Piano accompaniment track availableWeekend in Paris is a bright jazz waltz intended to convey the excitement and anticipation of a trip to Paris. The music is to bring to mind pleasure in sightseeing, wandering around cafe's, seeing children at play, people dancing and laughing and families gathering in a happy relaxed atmosphere in the glorious sunshine. The piece is in concert F major establishing the bright swingy rhythm, this then flows into the second section which is more lyrical and legato and is in E flat major.A short bridge section follows keeping the motif's heard in the first section but exploring the lower registers and remains largely legato. The first two sections are then heard again before a modulation takes place to give the piece a final lift before the end. The piece concludes quietly with a snippet of the opening motif. I have set it to intermediate level but the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. The music would be a great addition to any repertoire as a happy piece, programmatic with a world/travelling theme in mind.Full score 13 pages-parts 4 pages. 4 mins 30 in length. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 9 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q45427. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q45427). Written in 2010 for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Wigglesworth's nine-minute work explores the idea of perpetuum mobile (continuous movement) in seven connected, miniature inventions. A regular pulse forms the work’s core, with elaborations of the central musical idea shifting constantly around it in jagged rhythms and sumptuous orchestration. The composer writes, The seven sections can very briefly be described thus: 1) an active, miniature 'theme and variations'; 2) the juxtaposition of various fragmentary two-part inventions; 3) a tremolo string ostinato with woodwind interjections, building towards the first climax; 4) an ostinato passing between horns and muted trumpets together with a dialogue for high woodwind and low strings; 5) a very slow canon for string harmonics and pizzicato double basses; 6) a fast, one-part invention beginning with solo piccolo, and gradually leading to the second climax; 7) chorale. This is a lively orchestral miniature which gives the impression of a kaleidoscope, with short musical ideas cutting across each other in quick succession.
