“These are written-out improvisations that were a part of the Good Friday noon liturgy at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. It is a service based on stations of the cross from the Anglican tradition, in our case, with a procession to each of nine stations. At each station there is a mini-liturgy which consists of a reading, prayer, interpretive improvisation on the organ, and the singing of a stanza of a hymn. For the improvisation, I weave in images from the reading with the hymn. For example, at the sixth station, the reading includes the phrase “His yoke is easyâ€, and the hymn is “Go to Dark Gethsemane.†The improvisation alternates between the theme from the chorus “His yoke is easy†from Handel’s Messiah and a very dark and thick chordal setting of the hymn. The improvisations are full of imagery which are evocative and emotionally charged.â€-David CherwienThis unified set represents nine Stations of the Cross, but the pieces can also be used individually as preludes, hymn introductions, or worship interludes. If a very large ensemble is playing all the movements the ensemble/musical director may orchestrate each movement according to the forces that are available. Other guidance is given with each of the movements.Optional percussion instruments: up to 6 large glass bottles, tam tam, bass drum, piano, vibaphone, up to 3 cymbals, up to 6 wine glasses, woodblock, up to 6 whirlies. Programme note:The title ‘Suffer a Sea-change’ comes from Ariel’s song in Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’.The titles of the six movements reflect different types of marine pollution, ranging from the wreckage of a ship or its cargo to litter that is accumulating in the major oceanic gyres. Bohemian Rhapsody is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 studio album A Night at the Opera. It is a six-minute suite, consisting of several sections without a chorus: an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock part and a reflective coda. The song is a more accessible take on the 1970s progressive rock genre and was the most expensive single ever made at the time of its release. I have arranged it here for wind dectet with optional drum kit, and kept it true to the original version.

It begins as a thanksgiving prayer: for the summer, for the autumn fruits. But the first winds bring along the fear of the cold and loneliness of winter: 'Whoever is alone now will remain so for a long time, will stay up, read, write long letters…'. Peter Eötvös lets the poem unfold twice, each time in a different way, thus intensifying the reflection. The tonality is treated freely, and the choral setting extends the underlying five-part texture, in which the choir's soloists create striking echoes, up to eight-part passages.

They are a contemporary arrangement of movements from the Five Wind Divertimentos for 3 basset horns, K. 439b which Mozart wrote in 1783.The Divertimentos are notable for their conciseness of form and their melodic richness. Each divertimento has 5 mvts.They therefore make an excellent introduction to Mozart's piano music, even though they are not completely typical of Mozart's piano writing. We do not know for certain who made the arrangement, but Alexander Weinmann has shown that it was probably Ferdinand Kauer. The order of movements is not the same as in the original; moreover, some of the Trios have been exchanged and recapitulations have been shortened in some instances.Thry are in varying keys, unlike the original divertimenti, so my arrangements reflect thus.This is my arrangement for  mixed wind trio of Sonatina No.4 in Bb major.There are 3 movements: Andante grazioso Menuetto and Trio Rondo

Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755234). Transformations is a five-movement composition for trumpet and percussion. The title is derived from the way the organic material of the first movement is altered during the ensuing movements. Movement two mainly explores the sixteenth note material that is presented during the first movement and is at a faster tempo. The slow third movement is at a slow tempo and is very coloristic. The muted trumpet presents material reminiscent of the opening motivic cell, but it is highly decorated through the use of half-step trills. A sextuplet section has a similar contour to the second germ cell used in the first movement. The lyrical ending to this movement also has its roots in the first movement. The fourth movement is very fast with shifting odd meters and represents the climax of the composition. Hints of motivic cells from the first movement can be heard throughout. The last movement serves as an epilogue by being more closely related to the material of the first movement but it has a characteristic of reflection rather than an exposition. The percussion part serves many roles by imitating the trumpet, adding color and punctuation, and serving as an equal voice in the presentation and development of material. Both musicians perform from the score.

Messiah (HWV 56) is an English-language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel, with a scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens from the King James Bible, and from the version of the Psalms included with the Book of Common Prayer. It was first performed in Dublin on 13 April 1742 and received its London premiere nearly a year later. After an initially modest public reception, the oratorio gained in popularity, eventually becoming one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. Handel's reputation in England, where he had lived since 1712, had been established through his compositions of Italian opera. He turned to English oratorio in the 1730s in response to changes in public taste; Messiah was his sixth work in this genre. Although its structure resembles that of opera, it is not in dramatic form; there are no impersonations of characters and no direct speech. Instead, Jennens's text is an extended reflection on Jesus Christ as Messiah. The text begins in Part I with prophecies by Isaiah and others, and moves to the annunciation to the shepherds, the only scene taken from the Gospels. In Part II, Handel concentrates on the Passion and ends with the Hallelujah chorus. In Part III he covers the resurrection of the dead and Christ's glorification in heaven. Handel wrote Messiah for modest vocal and instrumental forces, with optional settings for many of the individual numbers. In the years after his death, the work was adapted for performance on a much larger scale, with giant orchestras and choirs. In other efforts to update it, its orchestration was revised and amplified by (among others) Mozart. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries the trend has been towards reproducing a greater fidelity to Handel's original intentions, although big Messiah productions continue to be mounted.
