His works are characterized by a smooth and flowing melody inspired by the sound of the strings. The virtuoso solos which are quite common in concert quintets step back in favour of cantabile passages. Tilman Sieber ('Das klassische Streichquintett – Die Geschichte einer Gattung in Einzelwerken') edited the autograph scores and now presents String Quintet No. 84 in D major, a demanding chamber music work.

Key: G minor.The String Quartet in G minor by Anton Wranitzky (1761-1820) is one of the great works that combine stylistic devices developed by the turn of the century, such as the development of the sonata form by his thematic-motivic work, the contrasting effects of sound and structure, and the equal standard of all five parts. It is the second of the three Quintets Op. 8 with double violas and cellos. Unique in its instrumentation, they broaden the sound spectrum of the Boccherinian type with two cellos and some early quintets with three violins and two cellos, thus revealing the wealth of variants in the string quintet instrumentation which is typical of the genre. Also edited by Tilman Sieber, the volume 'Das klassische Streichquintett. Die Geschichte einer Gattung in Einzelwerken' (Musikalische Denkmäler, vol. IX, Mainz 2005, Schott, order no. This is an arrangement for String Quintet of G. F. Handel's "Thine Is The Glory" (Maccabeus) for violin I & II, viola, cello, piano, and an optional contra bass part as well. It was written for Welch College's 2021 graduation processional and written in a way to easily repeat the verses and last chorus for the proper amount of time needed for the processional. It would also work well for weddings and sacred settings. Written in the key of C, it makes for very comfortable congregational singing as well. This may be played as a string quartet without the piano as needed. There is a separate part for each instrument in the score.

It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. This selection is one of the arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library, many of which are being made available for the first time. They have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The original composition was written in D Major but Regis Bookshar has transposed it to Bb Major, making it a little easier for many modern musicians. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (8 pages). The 17th century composer, Henry Purcell, is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers of his generation. His Sonata for Trumpet and Strings in D Major, composed in 1694, was probably written for the London Theatre, where a fine tradition of trumpet playing had developed. Purcell almost certainly had in mind either John Shore or his brother, William, the most renowned trumpet players in England at the time. The trumpets of the time were normally tuned in D and there were no valves on the Baroque trumpets, so they were limited in the number of notes that they could play. The term Sonata here probably means no more than a piece of incidental music and looks forward to the style that would become the solo concerto where soloist and strings are pitted against each other but also looks back to an older type of instrumental music which emphasized equality between members of the ensemble. The music is in three movements and looks forward to the fast-slow-fast plan popularized by Vivaldi's concertos. Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists, besides trumpet players, could also have the opportunity to play the Allegro movement from Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet, so he has created other arrangements of this selection. This particular arrangement is for a String Quintet, consisting of 2 Violins, 1 Viola, 1 Violoncello and 1 Double Bass, and features the Violoncello on the melody, but there are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this piece. You may find something else that may suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check back periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Purcell's Allegro from his Sonata for Trumpet will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

This selection, Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon in D, is perhaps the most famous canon ever written and has been one of my favorite compositions to arrange. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon in D, was originally written in the key of D Major and was scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo which repeats the same harmonic progression throughout the entire piece. The common musical term for this is ostinato or ground bass. Regis Bookshar has now arranged this music for a String Quintet consisting of 3 Violins, 1 Viola and 1 Violoncello. The three Violins play the melody in canon while the ostinato accompaniment is played by the Viola and Violoncello. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but could also be performed by professional performers. I think that String players would probably prefer to play the versions in the key of D Major while the Brass and Woodwind musicians might prefer to play the Bb Major versions. This selection, Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon, is perhaps the most famous canon ever written and has been one of my favorite compositions to arrange. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon, was originally written in the key of D Major and was scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo which repeats the same harmonic progression throughout the entire piece. The common musical term for this is ostinato or ground bass. Regis Bookshar has now arranged this music for a String Quintet consisting of 3 Violins, 1 Violoncello and 1 Double Bass. The three Violins play the melody in canon while the ostinato accompaniment is played by the Violoncello and the Double Bass. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but could also be performed by professional performers. It is perfect for concerts and church services, especially for Weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (26 pages).
