Small Ensemble Cello,Flute,High Voice,Piano - Level 5 - SKU: A0.800331 Composed by Sarah Wallin Huff. Contemporary. Score and parts. 43 pages. Novel Soundtrax #11219. Published by Novel Soundtrax (A0.800331). This work by Sarah Wallin is a vocal text setting for soprano, flute, cello, and piano, completed in 2008. According to Dr. Edward David Zeliff, Fair Katrinelje... is very interesting, clever, witty, and captures the quirky little scenario of this poor fellow trying so hard to line up a bride by having to go through the firewall of her entire family and then having enough umph left over to get her attention as well. It's very Stravinskyish, and the charm and humor comes through. The story of Fair Katrinelje and Pif-Paf-Poltrie is a lesser-known fairy tale found in the Children's and Household Tales of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, the famous Brothers Grimm. Fair Katrinelje and Pif-Paf-Poltrie is a comedic dialogue. Our hero, Pif-Paf-Poltrie, is out to seek the hand of his beloved, the Fair Katrinelje, in marriage. Being the gentleman that he is, he approaches in turn each member of his beloved's family to ask their permission. Father Hollenthe, Mother Malcho, Brother High-and-Mighty, and Sister Käsetraut all respond in turn similarly – essentially, If it's all right with everyone else, it's all right with me. The challenge for the vocalist is to convey the essence and the hilarity of the dialogue by highlighting, with the mannerisms of the voice, the attitudes and characteristics of each character speaking. Above each character's lines, it is made clear whom it is that is speaking and the emotional context within which it is being spoken. The vocalist has complete freedom to effect these roles in whatever manner and to whatever degree is deemed appropriate, provided the musical integrity of the work is kept intact.

Full Orchestra Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon, French Horns in F I and II, Trumpet in Bb, Trombone, Percussion, (Timpani, Glockenspiel), Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello, Double bass - Advanced - SKU: 2S.4251133750706 Composed by Silvano A. Pagliuca-Mena. Jazz. Score and Parts. 46 pages. Soundnotation #4251133750706. Published by Soundnotation (2S.4251133750706). La Cabra Mocha (Full Score) is a Gaita de Furro. Because it belongs to the folklore of Zulia, its origin remains unclear and a dispute over the authorship of the composition currently revolves around Pradelio Hernandez and Jesus Lozano. Although its date of origin is considered equally indefinable for the same reason, its official appearance can be narrowed down to the middle of the 20th century. Probably it's much older, but due to the technological improvements of music recording, the piece became popular only later. La Cabra Mocha is a musical jewel that tells the story of a nation who has a wisdom and finds in music the way to express itself. The history of its transculturation is remarkable, although it also carries contradictions, depending on the way of representing. Sometimes its imposed stereotypes are accepted by society due to a lack of self-knowledge, which ultimately leads to a change of identity, where some elements are transfigured and others are replaced. Arranging a Gaita de Furro for youth orchestra makes sense for the following reasons: First and foremost, the self-knowledge of a society should start from the childhood and should be cultivated and carried on from generation to generation, thereby conserved. Moreover, a lack of a pedagogical act, thus a pedagogical repertoire, is one of the main causes for the ignorance of Venezuelan music. Another important aspect is the transformation or adaptation as a process of maintaining Venezuelan musical culture. Many children already present the intention of the composition by drawing their attention to the formation of the orchestra, which represents a globally unified language as a network of distribution and which is locally independent. Wherever the composition is played - each orchestra will be able to maintain the quality and expressiveness of the piece without hiding its identity. The piece opens with a fanfare introduction of the Cabra Mocha, followed by a drum roll, which reminds of the drummer's traditional reputation and introduces the theme whose chorus is represented by the tutti and its verses by the soli. The first variation consists of a two-bar rhythm and major tonality, full of wit and cunning. The following variation is an Adagio with a three-part rhythm in minor. Then the timpani return to initiate the theme, this time shortened by its Reprise, which finally leads to a polyphonic Codetta. On an interpretative level, the return of variation can be compared with the return of education and thus, to a certain extent, improvisation. This is a very striking factor of traditional music, which is represented as a fitting metaphor in the form of harmonic and rhythmic reference within the composition. Introduccion, Tema y Variaciones sobre la Cabra Mocha was composed in the last weeks of 2012 and won the first prize in the composition competition for the Youth Orchestra of Zulia, which was awarded by the Venezuelan Orchestra in its first edition in 2013. At the beginning of 2014 Silvano Pagliuca-Mena made a small revision of the piece. Silvano Antonio Pagliuca Mena was born on 10 May 1991 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Despite his Italian and Spanish roots, he has always remained true to his love for the music of his homeland, which is why his compositions always carry Venezuelan impressions, but also influences like academic western music, jazz and popular music.

Downloadable, Piano reduction. Duration 150 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q40439. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q40439). English.Like few other theatre works—The Magic Flute, A Midsummer Night’s Dream—Tippett’s first opera creates a wholly other place, one where human actions can be seen as in a tilted mirror. Since this is indeed an opera, the place, or dreamspace, is conjured by music: by luminescent music that, in its flowing abundance, radiant harmonies and evocative wind colourings, represents the natural world within which the characters have to integrate themselves. The central couple, those whose marriage is at first subverted and then gloriously celebrated, are Mark and Jenifer: he a young man of the earth and the senses, she a young woman of lofty spirituality. Each is only half a person, and before they can be united they have to be made whole, have to find within themselves an understanding of the other. Overseeing their mythic initiation and psychic healing are two Ancients, votaries of a temple on a wooded hilltop. As in the Mozart precedent, which the composer certainly had in mind, there is also a more workaday couple, Jack and Bella. The other principals are Jenifer’s businessman father King Fisher, who wants to stop the wedding for reasons of his own, and an Erda-like seer. There is also a dancer, Strephon, leading the exuberant ballet in which the orchestra completes the story of enlightenment and passion. It is ultimately a victory of love and, before love, self-knowledge.(Paul Griffiths).

Duration 233. David Kai #708518. Published by David Kai (A0.1105258). A song celebrating the people of Gander, Newfoundland & Labrador in Canada who helped close to 7,000 stranded airline passengers after September 11, 2001. The story of Gander and the surrounding towns has been immortalized in the Broadway show, Come From Away. The song is written in a Celtic/Newfoundland style. This song features the use of an Ugly Stick, a traditional Newfoundland percussion instrument. WHEN THE WORLD DROPS IN TO TOWN Words and music by David Kai ©2020 On the 11th of September, in a quiet little town In a place that they call Newfoundland, all the planes were coming down Just how many were arriving, it was hard to know or tell In a quiet town in Newfoundland on the day the towers fell. With ten thousand waiting on the ground, seven thousand on their way The schools and halls and churches were preparing for their stay And not only in Gander, but in places all around ‘Cause you’ve got to pull together when the world drops into town. Chorus: So raise a glass to them, let’s sing a song to cheer For all the workers, cooks and clerks, for all the volunteers Who showed such kindness, who stepped up when chips were down ‘Cause you’ve got to pull together when the world drops into town All the stores they opened up their doors, the supplies, how fast they flew! “Take it all to help the plane people, it’s the least that we can do!†Aunt Winnie baked two dozen of her partridgeberry pies She said, “I think those plane people will be in for some surprise!†So the people were all settled, and much to their delight There were home-cooked meals and showers in homes, even trips to see the sights Though they came from countries ‘round the world, they did seem to all fit in And in kitchen parties here and there, new found friends were being screeched in. Chorus: Soon the skies, they were reopened, just a week and they were gone Though the planes took off into the skies all the memories lingered on For what they all remember, and what’s talked of to this day Is how townsfolk cared for people who had come from far away. So let’s sing and let’s be thankful, for each and every one Who showed us how to live together in the year two-thousand one, Let’s celebrate their kindness, for we never will forget, That in Newfoundland a stranger’s just a friend you haven’t met. Chorus:.

Published by Caelan Chan Music (A0.529310). Duration: ca. 5'30 … And Together We’ll Find the Treasure is a duet for soprano clarinet and bass clarinet that musically depicts a story of my own creation. Each instrument represents two friends who go on an adventure to find treasure. Due to increasing irritation with each other, they fall out and end their friendship. While one of them finds the treasure, he cannot truly celebrate due to lingering sadness. Realizing how friendship is important to them both, they find each other again, reconcile, and share the treasure. This piece was an opportunity for me to depict a story through musical aspects and ideas like leitmotifs, key centers, and dialogue. Two principal themes appear in this piece: the Treasure Theme, which represents its namesake, as well as the Friendship Theme, which represents the bond between the two main characters. These two themes appear, twist and turn throughout the piece as our two main characters go through obstacles. Key centers also change as the friendship between the two main characters crumble and recover again.

Published by DML (A0.1281240). Songs are about storytelling, sometimes the emotions of a moment, happy or sad, sometimes an entire life in three verses and a chorus. These songs I chose because I like them, some I learnt from my first real guitar teacher, Dylan Todd, at the Guitar Centre in Palma de Mallorca in the late sixties when my family lived there; some from my father who was my other first guitar teacher; some down the years from other musicians. I have kept the accompaniments as simple as possible to go with my book The Art Of Accompaniment On The Guitar, most guitarists could handle them. I have also annotated everything, knowing the history of a song is important and as we increasingly lose the oral tradition I was brought up with the reason I chose certain verses and not others becomes relevant to that understanding. This is a simpler publication than the printed one available from Amazon. All of these songs are out of copyright, those that are in copyright that I would include and have arranged can be found individually through Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct.

Trumpet, Horn, Strings, Percussion and Bass/guitar About the Musical A great story about one of the 20th century’s greatest storytellers. Carefully researched, yet full of fun, this entertaining musical tells the story of the early part of CS Lewis' life from the time of his mother's death in 1908 until his arrival as a student at Oxford in 1916. (Throughout his life CS Lewis was always known as Jack) This new work was premiered at the end of 2019 at the annual CS Lewis Festival held in Ireland. (CS Lewis’ birthplace) It proved to be a great success and was very enthusiastically received. Synopsis Jack’s Journey is a whimsical re-imagining of the childhood journeys of CS Lewis - each of the seven songs representing a stop along the way to his eventual career as the writer of the Narnia Chronicles. The story is told through music relating his memories and significant episodes from his schooldays up to his entry into Oxford. Living almost entirely in his imagination as a small boy, the seeds of the world of Narnia are already beginning to grow in his writing and drawings. Little Lea, his childhood home, provides the setting for the early scenes. Following the death of his mother the young Jack has his first experience of school and England. He endures with fortitude the harsh regime of boarding school and begins to recognise the value of friendship, mutual support and the courage that children can show in adversity. He returns to Ireland and to Campbell College – a much more positive experience. Illness brings his attendance at Campbell to an end. Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. List of Songs (the sample pages and mp3 file gives a chance to see and hear the first page of most of the songs) 1 Soft through the window 2 Kingdom of Mourne 3 Little Lea 4 Campbell Days - Boy to the left, Boy to the right 5 The Dandy's song 6 The Scholar's song 7 Strength and honour As will be evident from the above, there is plenty of flexibility regarding the scale of the performance. ‘Jack’s Journey’ may be staged using relatively modest outlay – for example, the premiere did not have a set because the venue for the performance was an actual railway station! The piece certainly allows for imaginative approaches to design and staging. In terms of the additional challenges presented by 2020 the length of the musical at 40 minutes helps in delivering a shorter theatrical experience. Also, the fully digital download of all performing materials allows for distribution via email Indeed the whole show could be effectively recorded and presented online as well as in person.

Disco. 44 pages. Kathleen McGuire #859859. Published by Kathleen McGuire (A0.1267220). SCORE AND SET OF PARTS TO ACCOMPANY THE WOMEN'S CHORAL ARRANGEMENTA Donna Summer hit from post-disco / new wave era (1983), She Works Hard for the Money is more than a fun pop piece. The song tells a story of a hard-working blue-collar woman, based on inspiration Summer found after the 25th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony (23 Feb 1983) when she attended an after-party. She encountered a restroom attendant named Onetta Johnson (whose name is mentioned in the song) whom she found sound asleep - despite a blaring TV - exhausted from working long hours.Summer related the story in an interview: I looked at her and my heart just filled up with compassion for this lady, and I thought to myself: God, she works hard for the money, cooped up in this stinky little room all night. Then I thought about it, and I said, She works hard for the money... She works hard for the money...This is it! This is it! I know this is it! The arrangement opens with an a cappella introduction in full harmony. The melody moves between the altos and sopranos, with each part otherwise providing rhythmic support (echoing the instrumental accompaniment). The sopranos divide into 3 parts occasionally, allowing some high voices (A-flat) to shine. There are no solos in this arrangement - your women all have opportunity to sing this powerful, true story that serves more broadly as an allegory for women's rights and socioeconomic hardship. The arrangement is a show-stopper, bound to get audiences clapping and even up out of their seats! Provided: Conductor's Score and Set of Band Parts: Trumpet in B-flat, Tenor Sax, Synth (Strings), Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drum Set. Provided separately: SSAA Choral Arrangement - Piano Vocal Score.

The Innkeeper's Children comprises five songs that supplement the traditional Nativity Play by telling some of the story from the point of view of the children of Bethlehem, including the Innkeeper's children. There is no limit to the number of children involved, and dressing them is simple, so they may make a welcome addition to the traditionally huge cast of animals, angels and shepherds, who can all play their part alongside and after this new narrative. It is expected that other carols, dialogue and action will be added as appropriate to complete the Christmas Story. The Innkeeper's Children has a simple keyboard/guitar accompaniment and suggestions for the use of classroom instruments.

Silver Sickle Publications #6104711. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942097). This guitar and vocal work were originally set on the Robert Frost poem ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’, and was written for a lecture series at Boston University given by Lukas Foss entitled ‘Words on Music. Some years later I set out to publish the work and found that the estate of the late R. Frost frowned upon this particular practice and after a second failed attempt to get permission to publish the work, I decided to write my own verse for this composition (my first actually) and use a subject familiar to me, the story of Daedalus and Icarus Journey to freedom. After his arrival in Crete, Daedalus found that Minos would not let him leave. He subsequently obtained wax and feathers and fashioned wings for himself and his son Icarus. With these they succeeded in flying away, but Icarus, flying too near to the sun, melted his wings, fell into the sea near Crete, and drowned; Daedalus escaped to Italy only to fall into the hands of the local King Kokalos who drowned him in hot water. The Daedalus and Icarus JourneyEscape from here is what I’ll doI have a plan I thought it throughThe waves beneath us deadly wildI’ll fly up high, it’s just the sky That was a dreadful thing to sayTo fly so high, you can’t survive.Your wings, your soul and frozen smile,The sun will burn and you will die. The Death you seek I am sure you’ll get,He’s there for you he won’t forget. He will be fast and kind with you,If He survived why not you too? It’s time to go the sky gets blueMy mind will be so close to youYou cannot scare me I have to try,The time is right, let’s say goodbye. Text by Apostolos Paraskevas

Storypeople Songs flow from a random Facebook newsfeed posting where I saw a former student say these stories would make great songs. I read her post, clicked through to the Storypeople.com website, and realized what a treasure these little stories truly are. And at that moment I decided I simply must set some to music.I had promised James Stevens, a 2015 graduate of Webster University (Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance) that I would compose something for his senior recital. These little ditties are his, written with his voice and his style in mind. They were composed in the cold of January 2015.May these songs bring smiles, a few laughs, and perhaps a tear or two to all who sing them and all who hear them. The seven songs are intended to be sung as a set; they alternate between humor and heart-feels. They were conceived for a college-level voice. The recording is by Saint Louis residents Matt Pentecost, baritone, and Nancy Mayo, piano, both colleagues of mine.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.535382). The Revelations of Divine Love (Metaphors from Sea and Sky) (2009), an oratorio for soprano, baritone, chorus, and chamber orchestra (0000.1100.1perc.strings), was commissioned for and is dedicated to the choir ofRoyal Holloway, University of London and Rupert Gough, director of choral music. The texts of the work are adapted primarily from the writings of Julian of Norwich (c. 1342–1416).Julian is best-known for her Sixteen Revelations of Divine Love (c. 1393), believed to be the first Englishlanguagebook written by a woman. Considered one of the most significant English mystics of alltime, Julian lived a reclusive life as an anchoress at the Church of St. Julian in Norwich, England (hertrue name is unknown). Regarded even during her lifetime as a spiritual authority, her optimisticvisions have been very influential in the years that have followed.Texts are also drawn from three additional sources: an excerpt from the Book of Margery Kempe(translated by Christopher M. Brunelle), two poems by English poet Robert Herrick (1591–1674),and a poem by the American writer Elizabeth Kirschner (b. 1955).The primary concept underlying this oratorio is the presence of two distinct discourses. One is asequence taken from Julian’s religious visions. The other is a sonic geography of Nantucket Island(located 30 miles off the coast of Massachusetts in the United States). This interconnected conceptwas inspired by the writings of the great Scottish poet George Mackay Brown (1921–1996). Livinghis entire life on Scotland’s Orkney Islands, Mackay Brown consistently explored the transpositionof religious imagery and events to his native landscape. (For example, the poem Apple-Basket, Apple-Blossom takes the story and structure of the Stations of the Cross, and maps them onto imagery ofdistinctly Orcadian character.)The landscape of Nantucket Island has been the driving force behind a large number of mycompositions for many years. In this oratorio, Julian’s visions are transposed from Norwich andmapped onto the Nantucket landscape. Each movement of the work thus has two parallel purposes:a setting of the visionary words, and a portrayal of a specific place in Nantucket’s geography. Muchof the music was planned in the actual locations. Since the soloists and choir must, by necessity, singthe words, a great deal of the landscape is left to the orchestra. Thus, the orchestra’s role issubstantially greater than simply accompaniment.Because of these two discourses, the oratorio is not intended as comprehensive working out of allaspects of Julian’s visions, nor does it use her own structure and sequence. Rather, it takes herbeautiful words, and the fundamentals of her visions, and attempts to create a new narrative andspiritual experience from them. This is the full score. The vocal score is available for sale. The parts are available on rental from the publisher.

The idea was to craft a lighthearted and comedic jazz melody that reflected the personality of the main character, Inspector Clouseau.

Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.8566DP). Sydney Carter.Lent & Easter Musical Sydney Carter's classic hymn, Lord of the Dance, is a metaphor of the life of Christ. In beautiful, poetic language, Carter describes Jesus as The Piper, calling his followers to the dance of life. This 30-minute musical from Joel Raney is an elaboration on that hymn, portraying each verse individually in a dramatic, colorful presentation - all retelling the story from John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Appropriate for use anytime during Lent or Holy Week, for Palm Sunday or Easter morning, there is an additional narration and underscore that leads into an exciting, complete setting of Lord of the Dance, celebrating Christ's victorious resurrection. For Maundy Thursday or Good Friday, it may be concluded with the musical benediction My Jesus, I Love Thee. Narration and scripture have been carefully chosen to complete the story, tying together the verses of Lord of the Dance with a variety of other timeless hymns and songs, creating a meaningful worship experience for the congregation. The piano accompaniment works extremely well by itself, while the optional instrumental parts require a minimal number of players and will enhance the overall effect. The Instrumental Parts include a Conductor's Score and parts for Flute, Oboe, Violin and Cello.

Hope Publishing - Digital #8564DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.8564DP). E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #5969-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.5969-E). The Journey is a twenty-minute cantata extracted from the opera The Dreamers. The opera was commissioned and produced by the Sonoma City Opera in 1996; Antoinette Kuhry, producer; musical direction by John Miner; stage direction by Sanrda Bernhard. The Dreamers captures a formative moment in American history where characters are separated by their cultural and racial differences, and brought together by their dreams and their longing for a new home. The Journey was commissioned by the Oakland East Bay Symphony, Michael Morgan, conductor, and was premiered at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA on May 18th, 2001. To set the scene for the excerpt here entitled The Journey: The entire town of Sonoma is gathered at The Collonade Theater to watch an amateur production of Shakespeare's Othello. An unpleasant racial incident occurs which brings the performance to a halt. To smooth thingsover, a sing-a-long is proposed. The song chosen is My Old Kentucky Home by Stephen Foster. After a brief statement of that tune in the orchestra, the entire company enters a dream-state, as six characters from the opera, with commentary by the chorus, sing arias about home. Johnny Rowe, an American soldier stationed in Sonoma, serves as a kind of master-of-ceremonies. Black Sam is a freed slave working as a gambler in Sonoma to earn money to buy his wife out of slavery. Indian Princess Isadora is the last of her tribe. Jim and Mary Eastin have migrated to California from Kentucky. Lizzy Fine is a widow who sings a farewell to her departed husband. The finale of this sequence is an Octet, where all six characters and the men and women of the chorus sing their various texts together, ending with the words from Stephen Foster: Weep no more.
