This is the thirtieth-third volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all  volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. It started out as a composition by a Czech composer, got new lyrics and new names in many languages (in Germany, where the Germans claim it as their own, it's called Rosamunde) and became wildly popular across the globe during World War II, after the Andrews Sisters made a hit of it in 1939.This one is scored for two trumpet, horn, tuba and baritone, a more fitting instrument for an Oktoberfest band than a trombone. Muiñeira de Boal: this traditional folk tune from Galicia (Spain) is arranged for two melody instruments and is one of a number of folk tune arrangements by the UK based folk duo Na-Mara. A jig-like dance tune, written in 6/8 in the Key of G, Muiñeira de Boal can be played as a duet on two mandolins or on any C clef instruments (violins, ukuleles, flutes etc), with the guitar chords accompanying the individual players. Performance tips: this is beginner / intermediate level piece played at andante or at a medium fast or allegro speed. We have added a second melody part to the original tune, and this makes a nice interplay between the melody instruments. The double stops can be played on the mandolin or violin, flute etc can play one of the two notes. The last part is in unison and builds up the energy of the repeated A section for the last time – it is fun to speed up and end with a flourish, apart from that, try to keep the tempo even throughout. The guitar accompaniment should be played energetically with strummed chords. When we play this tune live we play it as the last tune of a three-part set, starting with our arrangement of the An Dro, followed by our own tune Canberra Bourrée.Na-Mara (Rob Garcia and Paul McNamara) perform this instrumental piece on mandolin or octave mandola, with guitar accompaniment. They have also used it alongside other tunes in workshops as a teaching and learning resource, introducing players to tunes from different parts of the Celtic world. Recordings of this and other tunes on SMP can be found on Na-Mara’s albums ‘Sisters & Brothers’, ‘Navajos & Pirates’ and ‘The Bite’ Na-Mara have built an enviable reputation for fine story-telling and musicianship. Les Dancites: this traditional folk tune from Asturias (Spain) is arranged for two melody instruments and is one of a number of folk tune arrangements by the UK based folk duo Na-Mara. Written in 3/8 time in the key of A, Les Dancites can be played as a duet on two mandolins or on any C clef instruments (violins, ukuleles, flutes etc), with the guitar chords accompanying the individual players. Performance tips: this is intermediate level piece played allegro or medium fast speed, however it is a waltz-like tempo so it doesn’t need to be played too fast. We have added a second melody part to the original tune, and this makes a nice interplay between the melody instruments. Both parts interplay and inter-wind so it is a good exercise to work on the balance between the two instruments, varying the dynamics on some of the repeated sections. The guitar accompaniment can be played with strummed chords. This make a nice set when it is coupled with our arrangement of the Spanish Asturian folk tune, La Casa‘l Señor Cura.Na-Mara (Rob Garcia and Paul McNamara) perform this instrumental piece on mandolin or octave mandola, with guitar accompaniment. Bei Mir Bistu Shein is a popular Yiddish song written by lyricist Jacob Jacobs and composer Sholom Secunda for a 1932 Yiddish language comedy musical, I Would If I Could (in Yiddish, Men Ken Lebn Nor Men Lost Nisht, You could live, but they don't let you), which closed after one season at the Parkway Theatre in Brooklyn, New York City. The score for the song transcribed the Yiddish title as Bay Mir Bistu Sheyn. The original Yiddish version of the song (in C minor) is a dialogue between two lovers.
