A Clarinet,Bassoon,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1284281 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,March,Romantic Period. 38 pages. RayThompsonMusic #875459. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1284281). Arranged double wind quintet/bass.This is my arrangement of the complete work - it includes the trio.Check out my shorter version here. The Festival Coronation March in D major, TH 50, ČW 47, is an orchestral work by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883.It was written during March 1883 and performed for the first time on June 4[O.S. May 23], 1883 in Sokolniki Park (Moscow), conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music included excerpts of the anthem God Save the Tsar.Recordings of this piece generally run between 5 and 5½ minutes.Arranged wind dectet/bass (double wind quintet/bass/tuba)My arrangement is in the same key as the original (D major)Clarinet parts are CLARINET IN ARather than simply copying the woodwind parts, I have moved some of the music down one octave. Thus avoiding the shrill sound of high woodwind in a smaller ensemble. For info: During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march. Other works that quoted or otherwise used the anthem, such as Tchaikovsky's Marche Slave and 1812 Overture, were also revised, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem.Starting with Dmitri Medvedev’s inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president. That version (Similar to my arrangement) lasts less than two minutes, and so ends well before the playing  of  God Save the Tsar.Check out my arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Military March,TH150 arranged for similar instrumentation.

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Percussion - Level 3 - SKU: A0.555864 Composed by Edmund Angerer - ascribed variously to Joseph Haydn, Leopold Mozart, Michael Haydn, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Rainprechter. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Children,Christmas,Classical,Standards. Score and parts. 52 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6047585. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.555864). This work was long reputed to be the work of Joseph Haydn, but later scholarship suggested that it was actually written by Leopold Mozart. Its authorship is still disputed, however, and other composers have been proposed as the symphony's true author, including Joseph Haydn's younger brother Michael Haydn, who purportedly contributed movements to the work.Recent research on a newly found manuscript suggests the Austrian Benedictine monk Edmund Angerer (1740–1794) to be the author. If Angerer's manuscript (from 1765, entitled Berchtolds-Gaden Musick) is the original, the Toy Symphony was originally written not in G but rather in C. These findings, however, are disputed among scholars. There is reason to believe that the true composer will likely never be known, in whole or in part, given its confused origins and the paucity of related manuscript sources.Even without a name attached to it, the piece has become a mainstay for children's shows and Christmastime concerts. Each of its three movements features the sounds of actual toys and instruments that sound like they came straight from Geppetto's workshop. The piece calls for a toy trumpet, ratchet, nightingale, cuckoo, drum, and triangle. ( A quail makes it’s only appearance in the 2nd movement.Noisemakers rattle throughout the first of its three movements. The cuckoo and trumpet  call out mischievously during the minuetto of the second movement , and a quail joins the nightingale in the trio. In the short third mvt which is played 3 times, they all play again, each repeat faster than the previous one.The presence of the toy instruments make this a fun piece for children to play, especially when there are also some toys waiting under the tree.My arrangement is based on the Kinder-Symphonie attributed to Leopold Mozart. It is scored in C.it is in 3 mvts and is arranged for double wind quintet, bass and toy percussion.i have distributed the original strings around the woodwind, and composed original classical horn parts.Sometimes known as Children’s Symphony.

Contemporary. Score and parts. 105 pages. Dolphin Don's Music School #6475223. Published by Dolphin Don's Music School (A0.990176). The title refers to the Four Winds of the Apocalypse. This single movement work is based entirely on a six-note synthetic scale including the notes C, D, E, G, Ab, A. Every other note of this scale is combined into two different triads, one augmented and the other suspended. The alternation of these two triads serves as the only harmonic structure for the piece. The trombone begins by stating a simple idea, which is blown around the ensemble until it develops into the first theme when the woodwinds take over. Following a driving ostinato percussion transition, the trumpet states the second theme. The chimes state the third theme, a twisted interpretation of the Medieval hymn, Dies Irae. The bass instruments join the chimes in repeating the third theme, while the rest of the winds restate the second theme and the percussion continue their ostinato. Each section states and repeats its own motive in a group effort that constitutes the fourth theme, then the woodwinds gently return to the first theme, accompanied by a subdued and rhythmically altered version of the third theme. The percussion ostinato returns, though rhythmically altered. The trumpets and horns bring back an altered version of the second theme, while the woodwinds do the same for the first theme. Just before the end, the trombone tries to return to the calm that began the performance. A final strong gust from the entire ensemble puts an end to this idea, simultaneously signaling the end of the piece.

Published by LCS Productions (A0.1256884). Imagine a place where cultures are blended and people of all races can laugh, play, sing, dance, and even pray together.  Colores is a musical tale in which children show us how to create such a place.A child walks on to a deserted playground, looking for others.  Another child joins.  They introduce themselves and begin to talk to each other.  A third joins the conversation, then another, and another, until there is a large group of children, creating a colorful, contrapuntal cacophony of vocal chatter.  After the introductions and lively conversations, they pause to decide what to do next.  As would be expected, they decide to just play.  They run races, play chase and tag, catch and kickball, and laugh and giggle until their energy is gone.  Settling down, and wondering what to do next, one child begins singing a tune that is familiar.  …but not to all of them.  So, it’s time to teach the song to everyone. The tune is shared, bit by bit, and one by one every child learns it and joins in.  Before it’s over, their full-voiced singing creates a choral tapestry in which every child adds his or her own color to the musical palette. After a brief conversation, they add their renewed energy to the song they just learned, pick up the pace, and dance.  They twist and spin, jump and swing, making up their moves as they go along.  But, as before, their energy wanes.  This time, as they settle down, one child feels so comfortable with these new friends, he chooses to share his faith in the form of a chant — a prayer. Some join his prayer, as others add a familiar religious tune.  They pray and sing, and their separate experiences combine to produce a stirring, blended chorale.  As they finish, the day ends and they quickly reminisce about the blended experiences that are now behind them.  Before they go their separate ways, they share a moment of gratitude for the place where they can be free to be who they are, together. On a musical note, Colores combines multiple scale structures and varying types of vertical harmonies to give the piece its color palette.  Each of the five voices is set in a different mode, with different tonal centers and sets of accidentals.  The harmony combines both traditional tertian chords with secondal, quartal, and quintal structures. The colors within the music are intended to represent the racial diversity of the borderland from which the composer drew his inspiration.  It is hoped that we can learn from the example of children who talk, laugh, play, sing, dance, and pray together.  …who are grateful for the time and experiences they share.

Johann Michael Haydn, the younger brother of Joseph Haydn, was born in 1737 in the Austrian village of Rohrau. Following in his brother's footsteps he trained at the choir school of St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna where he was thought to be a brighter student than Joseph. After leaving the choir-school, he was first appointed as Kapellmeister at Nagyvárad in Romania and then, in 1762, at Salzburg where he stayed until his death in 1805, composing church and instrumental music. The Turkish March is scored for wind instruments and percussion. Mock Turkish music was very popular during the classical period, and was famously exploited by Mozart in his opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Haydn's work is typical of the genre having bright lively melodies given an exotic flavour through the addition of untuned percussion, particularly cymbals. (Originally scored for double wind quintet, two trumpets and percussion)My arrangement is scored for double wind quintet and bass.(no trumpets or percussion)All essential trumpet solos are covered by the other winds.Horn parts are in G as the original.I have written a bass part to add depth to the piece.

Small Ensemble Timpani,Trumpet - Level 4 - SKU: A0.977352 By Louis Armstrong & His Orchestra. By Moises Simons. Arranged by Des McNutty. Contemporary. Score and parts. 12 pages. Des Press #6438143. Published by Des Press (A0.977352). Part of the series A Pulchritudinous Posy of Pleasing Party-PiecesA few fancies for five-part natural trumpet ensemble* with optional timpani. At last: Some new repertoire for the historical natural trumpet! This one-handed instrument was familiar to composers such as JS Bach, Handel, Telemann, Purcell, Vivaldi etc., but was largely neglected after the invention of valves in the early 19th century - and the subsequent invention of the nodal vent-hole systems in the late 20th-century - until recently, when the elusive lost art of clarino playing (in the fourth octave and above) was cracked by dedicated optimists such as Don L Smithers and JF Madeuf. These arrangements are a stylistic departure from the trumpet's golden age of Baroque repertoire, featuring works well known in the 20th century, and provide excellent training for rhythmic precision, style, pitching and team playing. They're also fun, if you like that sort of thing. Advice on tuning up the differently-pitched instruments and a technical tip are included. The current regulations on SMP mean us little guys can only publish in-copyright works one at a time. So, you can collect them all and make yourself a tome! These arrangements were originally written for Lunchtime Tower Music (weather permitting), at the Dartington International Summer School between roughly 2000 and 2010, for courses led by Michael Laird and David Staff. Such performances from the mediæval clock tower involved the various brass and other wind classes playing seriously with an informal atmosphere. Logistical issues, a narrow staircase and the ubiquitous Health-and-Safety regulations prevented the use of timpani on the tower but sometimes larger groups, and those involving vertigo sufferers, played in the courtyard instead. These pieces are the opposite of playing Baroque music on modern, or postmodern instruments. Get them all now and enjoy a refreshing change! Enjoy! DM

Published by Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com (A0.1115994). Fantasy in 3 movements for large wind ensemble, double bass and percussion 1. Deux Caracteres 2. Dialogues 3. Dance de Confusion Confluence is the name of a place in Lyon where 2 rivers flow together: The Saône flows into the - at least in German - female Rhone. In French, however, it flows into DEN Rhone - Le Rhône. This confuses the composer: How do rivers get their gender, are they sometimes male, sometimes female? Is it because of their character, because of the landscape that they flow through? By their water, even by their fish? On the people on their shores? A real confusion ensues. In the subsequent thoughts about music, the composer discovers certain analogies and asks himself the question: does gender-typical music actually exist? Or instruments? Typically male harmonies or rhythms? Or clearly female melodies and the way to interpret? The 3-movement composition is dedicated to this question and meanders like a dance in the bed of the converging streams. Colorful modal harmonies form the bed for wide arcs of melody. A varied, recurring theme sets the direction and creates a bubbling, dancing pull in the direction of the mouth: dancing finale! 1st movement: Deux Characters In the first movement (Andante) the roles are distributed - the Sâone and the Rhône get their performers. A first glance at the ensemble reveals a tendency: woodwinds take on the female lead, the male brass the counterpart. The two drummers each support one of the two poles in solidarity. The assignment may be obvious, but strong doubts remain in the final chord of the first movement. 2. Dialogues: In smaller and larger dialogues, there is a lively exchange and the properties are worked out and further developed. But it is also increasingly being copied and imitated, even maliciously agitated and aped. You try to convince each other, interrupt each other, both sides increasingly flare up, it gets louder and more hectic, louder and louder, too loud, until communication stops: in the end, you just yell at each other! 3. Dance de Confusion The resulting confusion finds a conciliatory end in the third movement of the composition: Let's dance! In the end, the initial confusion turns into a confusion: what belongs together flows and dances together. Composed by: Thomas H. Graf Arranged by: Thomas H. Floating, Falling, Flying depicts the odyssey of two balloons who find themselves suddenly and blissfully untethered.  It presents a musical narrative of their unpredictable journey through the skies, back to earth, and, eventually, into the stratosphere. The piece was commissioned by Music Teachers National Association for the 2022 National Conference.  It is a trio for oboe, violin and piano written for students at the intermediate to advanced-intermediate level.  Composed in three contiguous movements, it involves three characters – the balloons (portrayed by the oboe and violin) and the wind (represented by the piano).  In the opening movement (Floating), the balloons escape their moorings and ascend into free space, floating playfully among the clouds with the help of a gentle wind. But, as in life, journeys are not always peaceful.  The second movement (Falling) opens with a hint that something is not quite right.  Undaunted, the balloons continue their carefree ascent amid the ominous signs of an approaching storm.  The wind ultimately asserts its authority, pummeling the balloons back to earth.  As they lie helplessly on the ground, they assess each other’s condition and make feeble attempts to relaunch.  But, without wind, their situation seems hopeless.  In the final movement (Flying), hope is restored as a quiet breeze lifts the intrepid pair back into the air.  They resume their skyward adventure with renewed vigor and joy – dancing through the clouds and, ultimately, out of sight.Floating, Falling, Flying is an exciting and challenging piece for student concerts, recitals and Solo and Ensemble festivals.Brian Chung is a pianist, arranger, composer, conference speaker, former Senior Vice Present of Kawai America Corporation, and author or co-author of four books published by Alfred Music.  He was honored to participate in MTNA’s Collaborative Music Commissioning Project with this composition.

Published by Boothe Publishing (A0.1069968). 1st Kings 19: Verses 11 & 12 When Elijah the Prophet of God killed all the false prophets of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, the Queen promised to kill him by sundown the next day. He fled for his life and ran for 40 days and 40 nights all the way to Mount Horeb, the mount of God. When he arrived, the Lord asked him what he was doing there. When he explained it to the Lord, the Lord told him to go stand out upon the mountain before Him. And behold the Lord passed by and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; But the Lord was not in the wind: And after the wind an earthquake; But the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; But the Lord was not in the fire: And after the fire a still small voice. God wasn't in the mighty wind. God wasn't in the terrible earthquake. God wasn't in the fire. God was the still small voice. That is where I can find Him still. That is what makes me responsible for my actions. I have the still small voice telling me what is right and what is wrong. It is called, the light of Christ. It is revelation from God. I can try to drown it out and pretend I don't hear it. However, pretending doesn't alter the fact that God's still small voice is always there for those who will listen.

The English-language version's theme music by Gian Piero Reverberi and Robert Mellin, which the BBC requested before they would buy the serial, has been praised. Radio commentator Glenn Mitchell said The theme tune, with its rumbling introductory notes suggesting the rolling waves of the on-screen title sequence remains distinctive, as does the full incidental score, comprising numerous cues that in each case represent some part of Crusoe's existence. This arrangementgives scope for the wind players to shape the various melodic elements in their own way. When the themes come together they should blend into a whole. The Bass and Keyboard parts support the wind instuments.

Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813846). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Woodwind Ensemble) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (24 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, he has created this version for a Woodwind Ensemble. Parts included with the purchase are a 1st Flute, a 2nd Flute, a 1st Oboe, a 2nd Oboe, a 1st Clarinet in Bb, a 2nd Clari.

Soprano Sax, Alto Sax, Bari Sax, Trombone, Marimba, PianoTime: Approximately 6:42The title came from the piece being dedicated to the composer’s wife. This composition reminded the composer of her delightful and kind character and her amazing and creative aptitude for organizing and resolving complicated issues. PianoThe composition process began with the opening piano motif. The harmonic and rhythmic foundation for this work is provided by the piano part. The piano serves a steady percussion with a repeating two-measure pattern of 8th notes. It also provides the harmonic foundation with an evolving arrangement of harmonies, which gradually change as the treble clef and bass clef harmonic progressions continually shift over time. The Wind Instruments This piece is comprised of three sections. Section A and C are similar in structure and harmony. In these two sections, the right hand of the piano part repeats a six-measure pattern composed of three triads: F, Edim and Dm. The left hand outlines a repeating eight-measure pattern of four triads: F, Dm, Cm and Bb. As these patterns repeat, the extra two measures in the bass clef cause the patterns to shift out of phase. This brings about a new set of harmonies for each repetition until the patterns begin again on the F major triad. The wind instruments are employed as a rhythmic and melodic counterpoint to the piano. Individually, and as a unit, they reinforce the harmony and rhythmic figures of the piano through echoing and syncopation. Section B utilizes the harmonic progressions of the other two sections but more notes to the triads to extend the harmony (examples: 9th, 11th and 13th chords.) There is also a clear contrast between the rhythms and harmony of the piano versus the wind instruments. The rhythmic and harmonic flow of this section decelerates until there is a complete stop. Section C begins abruptly with the wind instruments taking over the piano’s opening motif. This last section utilizes the same harmonic and rhythmic patterns as section A but the wind instruments become more active in their melodic and rhythmic counterpoint. The last part of this section is eventually dominated by the saxophone and low brass with a strong reiteration of the opening motif.

Large Ensemble - Level 4 - SKU: A0.553793 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Holiday,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 41 pages. RayThompsonMusic #4614887. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553793). Originally written for string orchestra, I have arranged it for wind dectet ( double wind dectet) and double bass.I have transposed it into Bb from A to aid the players.Dvořák is said to have written this Serenade in just 12 days, from 3–14 May. The piece was premiered in Prague on 10 December 1876 by Adolf Čech and the combined orchestras of the Czech and German theatres.Rather than simply transcribing the parts, I have tried to imagine how Dvorak would have written it for wind ensemble, so have spread the string parts around, rather than always giving violin 1 to the flute/oboes.I have added horn sustaining notes in some places.I have also tried to give the wind player somewhere to breath, so restricted the tutti passages.Hope it becomes a useful companion piece to his Serenade for Wind Op.44.I have arranged other movements on this site. Please check them outCheck my arrangements for wind dectet of some movements from Legends Op.59

By Graham Hamilton. Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Historic,Medieval. Brass Band. 83 pages. Hambone Music #1018484. Published by Hambone Music (A0.1438467). A beautiful slow melody in 4/4 followed by a rousing 6/4 trek with fanfares then returning to the slow melody in 4/4. Not overly difficult but players should be around Grade 5 (ABRSM) and bands of around 2nd to 3rd section, although still possible with 4th section bands. Inspired by an old ruined church in my town called the 'Cross Kirk' during the times of the Cromwellian invasion of Scotland.Part 1 It is around the year 1650. A novice monk awakes from his slumber to the echoes of prayers and holy chanting coming through the cloisters. After he rises, he readies the oxen for a trek down the St. Andrews Road to the nearby satellite site of the priory - the site of the modern day St Andrew's cemetery. Part 2 It is an arduous trek over a muddy, rocky, unprepared track with heavy carts, with oxen straining to pull the load. They stop for a breather (3:09) and the impressive vistas are observed and the flag at 'Auld Neidpath' is just visible, reflected in the noble theme between the arduous oxen trekking theme. Part 3 The caravan starts to speed up; the oxen being startled by the sounds of fanfare trumpets coming from behind - a brave group of knights have broken through English lines and speed towards Neidpath to reinforce the besieged occupants. As they pass the wagon train, the fanfares get louder until the party reach the head of the train where the lead Knight halts to show piety to the Hieromonk who blesses him and his knights. The novice looks on awe-inspired at the brave knights, with noble faces, resplendent in shining armour, with banners flapping in the wind. No time to stop! The knights remount and continue on, the fanfares trailing off into the distance. The wagon train slows down having reached its destination. Part 4 The novice is back at the priory, reflecting on seeing knights for the first time (receiving their blessing); their nobility and bravery impressed upon him and retires to his cell for the evening, the evening prayers and chants again echoing through the cloisters . As he closes his eyes, his mind returns to the knights and a smile crosses his face as he gently drifts off to sleep, as the final bell of the day tolls.

Https://www.michaelbarreraflute.com/shop/p/tailwind-woodwinds Program Notes Tailwind is a quick-moving piece that creates a buoyant soundscape of a swift breeze. Originally conceived with the imagery of mechanics and machinery in mind, it quickly became a piece more interested in the fleeting motion of wind. It is both carefree and energetic, like floating leaves in the spring air. This piece was commissioned by Shooting Star Ocarina, an international virtual ocarina ensemble established in the summer of 2020. Following the traditional instrumentation of the Italian ocarina septet, SSO recently expanded to an octet adding the massive contrabass in G ocarina to the ensemble and commissioned a few pieces as a result to feature this addition to the low range. Instrumentation - Version for Woodwind Ensemble This version features all of the woodwinds in a symphonic band or wind ensemble. 1 Piccolo 2 Flutes 2 Oboes 2 Bassoons 1 Clarinet (E flat) 3 Clarinets (B flat) 1 Bass Clarinet 2 Alto Saxophones 1 Tenor Saxophone 1 Baritone Saxophone.

Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576888). Instrumental quintet based on my choral setting of Dave Dunning's poem To Idleness. The pdf file contains score and parts. The sound sample is an electronic preview. These are the words of the original poem: When autumn harvests are full grown and luscious fruits to me are shown, piled plump and rich till stomachs groan when autumn harvests are full grown ripe juices puddle on the tongue, and winter I forget in gurgling song. once when the fresh new spring was here I lavished though to sow the year oh dreaming seasons never interfere with worldly bounty, scorned the prudent song and prayed March winds to buffet time along Soon in the heat of summer haze I floundered on through deep green maize, where heavy herds lowed as they grazed, I saw that I would reap in thought among the rich; and time moved on with busy song, now in the heat of summer Now winter creeps between the sashes and rain upon the window lashes while wild wind moans round rafters dashes and I to annual poverty belong, yet know that spring flows richly on in song When autumn harvests are full grown and luscious fruits to me are shown, piled plump and rich till stomachs groan when autumn harvests are full grown ripe juices puddle on the tongue, and winter I forget in gurgling song.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Oboe - Level 3 - SKU: A0.813712 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474545. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813712). Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets) (Oboe Quintet) - Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but if you are considering using this selection for church services in which a congregation may sing along, I would suggest that you look for the arrangements of either I Vow to Thee, My Country, O God, Beyond All Praising, O Spirit All Embracing or Thaxted, also by Regis Bookshar. They are all based on the same excerpt from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for an Oboe Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Jupiter based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst.

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1143137 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 23 pages. RayThompsonMusic #743323. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1143137). Arranged wind dectet/bass 2nd mvt Lento - The String Quartet in F major, Op. 96, nicknamed the American Quartet, is the 12th string quartet composed by AntonÃn Dvořák. It was written in 1893, during Dvořák's time in the United States of America. The quartet is one of the most popular in the chamber music repertoire. For the London premiere of his New World symphony, Dvořák wrote: As to my opinion I think that the influence of this country (it means the folk songs)) is to be seen, and that this and all other works (written in America) differ very much from my other works as well as in colour as in character,. A characteristic, unifying element throughout the quartet is the use of the pentatonic scale. This scale gives the whole quartet its open, simple character, a character that is frequently identified with American folk music. However, the pentatonic scale is common in many ethnic musics worldwide, and Dvořák had composed pentatonic music, being familiar with such Slavonic folk music examples, before coming to America Specific American influences have been doubted: In fact the only American thing about the work is that it was written there, writes Paul Griffiths. The specific American qualities of the so-called American Quartet are not easily identifiable, writes Lucy Miller, ...Better to look upon the subtitle as simply one assigned because of its composition during Dvořák's American tour. I have NOT simply copied the string parts across to the winds, as other have done. Rather, I have arranged the piece as though it had been written for wind ensemblet, so have given the horns repeated notes , in the same way as the slow movement of the slow movement Dvorak's wind serenade., and also used the horns to sustain. Some of the arpeggio figures remain, but in a simplified form.and are shared between clarinets and bassoons.
