(Songs for a Rainy Day) (S0.706285) 3-part choir arrangement for rehearsal or performances.This charming 3-Part choir arrangement is a quodlibet of three traditional songs about rain: Rain, Rain, Go Away; It's Raining, It's Pouring; and Pitter Patter Raindrops. It begins with a sparse staccato section which builds quickly to emulate the start of a rain shower, and then each song is added one after another until all three songs are sung at the same time. Then the rain sounds begin again until the rain shower ends with one final Drop. The piano score is simple and supports the singers, and because the song is in the key of F, Orff instruments can easily be added (or replace the piano entirely). Suitable for elementary aged students (range E4-D5), and perfect for a fall (autumn), spring, or early summer concert, or classroom instruction. Approximate performance time 1:40. Joanna Mills was the Gospel Choir Director at Roncesvalles United Church in Toronto, Canada for 20 years, and has been writing and arranging choral music for 15 years. This is the thirtieth-second of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all  volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Both parts play the melody for one verse beginning with part one (handbells) on the melody and part two (Boomwhackers®) on harmony. After a short interlude, part two plays the melody for the second verse while part one plays harmony. If you want to play only the first verse, an optional ending is provided or it can be skipped to perform the two verses together. This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer. Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter and eighth rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Lyrics and chord names are provided as well to aid in the learning and teaching of these songs. Instrument assignment suggestions are provided for each song. Each of the 20 arrangements in this collection is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples. If the combined score is more than three pages, a separate Piano only score is also provided.A color-coded note chart is also provided for each song which shows the Handbell notes used as well as the number of times each note is played.  The note distribution is helpful when assigning notes to ringers. You may want to assign fewer notes to beginners or evenly distribute the bells between all ringers. On the color-coded score, only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to distinguish (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat).
