'Jack's Journey'(A new Musical by Adeline Dinsmore and David Catherwood)Piano and vocal score (contains 7 songs plus overture and incidental music) plus Script - $9.50Duration c.40 minutesIdeal for schools, youth groups or adult dramatic/musical companies.Requirements - Narrator, Chorus, (unison/2part) Soloists, Actors, Piano accompanimentOptional - Dancers, orchestral parts for Flute, Clarinet. Trumpet, Horn, Strings, Percussion and Bass/guitar About the Musical A great story about one of the 20th century’s greatest storytellers. Carefully researched, yet full of fun, this entertaining musical tells the story of the early part of CS Lewis' life from the time of his mother's death in 1908 until his arrival as a student at Oxford in 1916. (Throughout his life CS Lewis was always known as Jack) This new work was premiered at the end of 2019 at the annual CS Lewis Festival held in Ireland. (CS Lewis’ birthplace) It proved to be a great success and was very enthusiastically received. Synopsis Jack’s Journey is a whimsical re-imagining of the childhood journeys of CS Lewis - each of the seven songs representing a stop along the way to his eventual career as the writer of the Narnia Chronicles. The story is told through music relating his memories and significant episodes from his schooldays up to his entry into Oxford. Living almost entirely in his imagination as a small boy, the seeds of the world of Narnia are already beginning to grow in his writing and drawings. Little Lea, his childhood home, provides the setting for the early scenes. Following the death of his mother the young Jack has his first experience of school and England. He endures with fortitude the harsh regime of boarding school and begins to recognise the value of friendship, mutual support and the courage that children can show in adversity. He returns to Ireland and to Campbell College – a much more positive experience. Illness brings his attendance at Campbell to an end. Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. List of Songs (the sample pages and mp3 file gives a chance to see and hear the first page of most of the songs) 1 Soft through the window 2 Kingdom of Mourne 3 Little Lea 4 Campbell Days - Boy to the left, Boy to the right 5 The Dandy's song 6 The Scholar's song 7 Strength and honour As will be evident from the above, there is plenty of flexibility regarding the scale of the performance. ‘Jack’s Journey’ may be staged using relatively modest outlay – for example, the premiere did not have a set because the venue for the performance was an actual railway station! The piece certainly allows for imaginative approaches to design and staging. In terms of the additional challenges presented by 2020 the length of the musical at 40 minutes helps in delivering a shorter theatrical experience. Also, the fully digital download of all performing materials allows for distribution via email Indeed the whole show could be effectively recorded and presented online as well as in person.

Published by Indie Classical Publications (A0.971824). Take your guitar orchestra on a journey to explore one of the least traveled areas on the planet! Completed in June of 2019, Creepy Caverns was inspired by the mysterious and scary underworld surrounding us. Indicating a gradual descent into the unknown, a step-like climbing motive drives most of the work. A creepier middle section reminds us it's time to gradually turn back and go out the way we came. Score and parts. 20 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB701. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB701). UPC: 749193016084.Level 4 * This programmatic original composition will be a unique addition to the concert repertoire, as it is reminiscent of movie music. Its descriptive style tells a tale of love and loss, adventure and peril, and mystery and drama. A free, mystical opening leads into a delicate main theme in a minor key, accompanied by finger cymbals and chime tree. The opening strains provide a transition into an energetic ride in 12/8 time with rhythmic, malleted bass bells under a strong treble melody and using tambourine for rhythmic support. The bass and middle bells are then given the melody in an antiphonal style, followed by a return to the malleted bass and the upper-treble melody with the addition of a tenor drum. The section closes in great triumph but gives way to randomly malleted bells and a return to the mysterious opening strains.

Bass Flute,Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 2 - SKU: A0.549430 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and individual part. 12 pages. Jmsgu3 #3494193. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549430). Score: 7 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 3 pages. Duration: 4:25 Not difficult, but requires sensitivity & dynamic control. Suitable for recitals, church meditations, or school programs.  Dvořák Background AntonÃn Dvořák (1841 –1904) was, of course, a composer from Czechoslovakia. As a matter of fact, he was among the first Bohemian composers to attain universal recognition. It is important to realize that the late Romantic Nationalist period featured composers who used traditional and folk elements to portray the character of their nation. In particular, we see this in the music of Grieg (Norway), Finland (Sibelius), and Smetana (Bohemia).  Dvořák relied markedly on rhythms and other characteristics of Moravian and Bohemian folk music. Ascent to Fame Dvořák was truly a child musical prodigy on the violin. The premiere performances of his compositions notably occurred in 1872 and 1873. He submitted his First Symphony in particular to a German competition, but it failed to win. Consequently, in 1874 he presented two more symphonies to the Austrian State Prize for Composition. Johannes Brahms was the principal of the jury and was accordingly very impressed. They forthwith awarded the prize to Dvořák in 1874, 1876, and 1877. At this point, Brahms thereupon endorsed Dvořák to the publisher Simrock. Later, the publisher commissioned Dvořák to compose the Slavonic Dances, Op. 46. These became popular overnight and, as a result, Dvořák's worldwide status was launched. International Status Dvořák visited England upon invitation nine times. On each visit, he frequently conducted performances of his own compositions. He conducted concerts of his music, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Eventually, the Prague Conservatory in fact appointed Dvořák as a professor. There, to be sure, he wrote his famous Dumky Trio. United States Consequently, the National Conservatory of Music of America appointed him as director in 1892. As a result, Dvořák composed his two most famous symphonic works: the Symphony No. 9 (From the New World), which spread his name universally, and his Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, one of the most famous of all cello works. Moreover, he wrote his most celebrated American String Quartet during this time. At the same time, because of his growing recognition in Europe and his homesickness for his own country, he left to return to Bohemia in 1895.
