Heidenroslein (Wild Rose)Heidenröslein is a simple folk-style song about a youth who sees a rose growing in a meadow and picks it, despite the flower’s warnings that he will be pricked by her thorns. The lyrics are drawn from a poem written by Goethe and can be interpreted as a metaphor for the trials and tribulations of life and love. Heidenröslein is a lighthearted song, and should be performed with joyous naivety and charm. The lighthearted spirit can be expressed further by experimenting with tempo variations, such as taking the second verse at a slower tempo than verses one and three, and adding a dramatic rallentando to the ‘Roslein, Roslein, Roslein roth!’ refrain, before accelerating into the final line of each verse. The guitar part should be played in a bright and bouncy fashion; experiment with palm muting the bass notes, or play them with a thumb-pick to make them more percussive and clipped.This classic Schubert song has been arranged for voice and acoustic guitar in order to provide an alternative accompaniment option for singers who want to perform Schubert’s lieder with guitar instead of piano.

The first 15 measures can be performed with a pianist and there is a drum leadin to measure 16 with the swing style, saxophone entrance and the tempo change. It's sure to become a favorite with a timeless message as well as upbeat and inspiring arrangement. The song had its beginnings as a poem written by Thomas Chisholm (1923), who sent to his friend William Runyan, then putting it to music. It soon became an unofficial theme song for the Moody Bible Institute. It became even more popular when sung by George Beverly Shea and the choirs at the Billy Graham Crusades. The arrangement begins in a straightforward style with a simple piano theme then bursts into an easy swing arrangement with a solo vocal. In the sheet music, optional saxophone can double the piano melody line. There are also 2 short 4-measure sections for a Piano 2 part which can also be performed on a variety of C instruments and with or without saxophone. For Soprano, Flute, Cello and Piano --Composed in 2014 --Poem by Delmira Augustini Amor is a poem by Delmira Agustini, considered to be the most important female Latin American poet of the early 20th century. She was born in Uruguay and was the daughter of Italian immigrants. She was murdered by her ex-husband at the age of 27. The poem is in three stanzas and the music follows the form. The instrumental refrain opens the piece, ends the piece, and is performed between stanzas. The instruments play overlapping patterns of different durations that hover around a major 2nd interval of F and E-flat, and simple chords created by these two pitches. The verses have a rhythmically interlocking pattern between the left hand piano part and the flute. Meanwhile the cello plays a strict serial part of 5 notes and 7 duration, which cause a change in harmony against the piano and flute. The vocal melody fills in the resulting random harmonies, sometimes anticipating the chord change that results from the cello line. The effect is a dreamy kind of randomness, that evokes that mystical period between awake and dreaming. The right hand part of the piano during the verses, the knocking of the wood of the piano, came to me as an alternative to adding more notes during this section, which I preferred keeping stark, to help bring out the different melodies and resulting harmonies. This is the first time I have composed in Spanish, my adopted language which I love.

They were dated 1854 and were dedicated to his friend Julius Otto Grimm. Their composition coincided with the beginning of the composer's lifelong affection for the pianist and composer Clara Schumann, who was helping Brahms launch his career. Frédéric Chopin had written the last of his famous ballades only 12 years earlier, but Brahms approached the genre differently from Chopin, choosing to take its origin in narrative poetry more literally.Brahms's ballades are arranged in two pairs of two, the members of each pair being in parallel keys. The first ballade was inspired by a Scottish poem Edward found in a collection Stimmen der Völker in ihren Liedern compiled by Johann Gottfried Herder. It is also one of the best examples of Brahms's bardic or Ossianicstyle; its open fifths, octaves, and simple triadic harmonies are supposed to evoke the sense of a mythological past.This is my arrangement of no.1 in D minor for symphonic wind dectet (decet/double wind quintet) and bass.
