About the Composer and the song: Grenet was born in Cuba on June 12, 1893 and died on November 4, 1950. He was a pianist, composer and arranger. He composed music for music magazines and movies. He is also the author of famous pieces of Cuban dance music. In 1927, the premiere of the zarzuela La Niña Rita, or La Habana de 1830 was presented at the Teatro Regina, with music by Grenet and Ernesto Lecuona. From this zarzuela, Grenet's song, the tango-congo 'Ay, Mama Inés', became popular and continues to be so today.

Armando Manzanero Canché (Ticul, Yucatán, December 7, 1935), is a Grammy-winning Mexican singer-songwriter, musician, composer and music producer. After 'Adoro', one of the most remembered songs by Armando Manzanero is 'Contigo Aprendi', which tells us about all the beauty that the love of his partner has brought to his life. He has written more than 400 songs, of which more than 50 have achieved international fame, such as 'Somos novios' and 'Esta tarde vi llover'. He has participated in numerous radio and television programs, has recorded more than 30 albums and set many films to music.

Farrés was born in 1903 in the small city of Quemado de Güines, Las Villas, Cuba. Although unable to read or write music, he became a prolific and world-renowned composer. His songs include Quizás, Quizás, Quizás, Acércate Más, Tres Palabras, Toda Una Vida and his own favorite Madrecita written in honor of his mother and sung to this day in Latin America on Mother's Day. His songs have been performed and recorded by stars such as Doris Day, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Eydie Gorme, Pedro Vargas, Raquel Bitton, Charles Aznavour, Luis Miguel, Maurice Chevalier, Sara Montiel, Olga Guillot, John Serry Sr., Cake[1][2] and many others. Charlie Haden included Tres Palabras on his Grammy-winning 2001 album Nocturne. In 1962, Farrés and his wife, Fina del Peso Farrés, left Cuba. They never returned. He died in West New York, New Jersey, in 1985.

Sabor a Mà (Taste of Me) is a 1959 bolero by Mexican composer and singer Ãlvaro Carrillo. It was internationally popularized by Los Panchos, who collaborated on their rendition with Eydie Gormé in 1964.[1] Among the over 300 songs that he created, this song was considered Carrillo's biggest hit both in Mexico and internationally.[2] Since its creation, the song has been covered by several artists, including among them Mexican singer Luis Miguel, Cuban jazz pianist Bebo Valdes, k-pop boygroup EXO, and the Mexican American musicians Los Lobos.

Two versions of It’s Been a Long Long Time topped the charts in late 1945, and as US servicemen returned from Europe and the Pacific, it perfectly caught the mood of the times. One version was by Bing Crosby, and the other by the Harry James Orchestra featuring Kitty Kallen on vocals. It is the latter version that is heard in Endgame and the one that forms the basis of this arrangement.Musicians at an intermediate standard will find It’s Been a Long Long Time ideal for formal and informal concert performances. with both parts enjoying plenty of melodic interest. The Chocolate Chalypso is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for two Cellos. Chocolate Chalypso is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. In the late ‘50s just a handful of national TV shows in the US had a huge influence on the music and dance crazes of the time. Artists and dances came and went with dizzying speed. Chalypso was a short-lived craze in 1958 that combined the music of the new Rock’n’Roll with much-simplified steps borrowed from Cha Cha and Calypso; and no sooner had it caught on than it was itself supplanted by The Twist. Chocolate Chalypso is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by some syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, Chocolate Chalypso is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. The Twenty-four Exercises for Two Cellos, Op. 159, by Johann Justus Friedrich Dotzauer, continue and conclude the series dedicated to the neck positions. These, alongside the just published Twelve Original Pieces, Op. 58, cover the first four positions in all possible variations, using an incredible richness of forms, melody, harmony, and rhythm. After these thirty-six little gems, your students will be able to face much greater challenges with renewed strength and assertiveness. While Op. 58 focused mostly on Theme with Variations, Op. 159’s most used form is the rounded binary one, while no less than three full-fledged fugues enrich the practicing landscape. Due to the lack of the original manuscript, lost during Steiner & Bell’s acquisition of Augener & Co., this edition is based on two surviving editions, by Carl Hüllweck and Johannes Klingenberg, both published in the first decade of the XX century, about 40 years after Dotzauer’s passing.
