Vytautas Laurušas (geb. 1930) studierte am Staatlichen Konservatorium für Musik (jetzt Litauische Akademie für Musik). Von 1963 bis 1975 war er Direktor und Künstlerischer Leiter des Litauischen Opern- und Balletttheaters, von 1975 bis 1983 Vorsitzender des Litauischen Komponistenverbandes und von 1983 bis 1994 Rektor der Litauischen Akademie für Musik. Seit 1994 ist er Professor für Komposition am gleichen Institut. Vokalwerke und Kammermusik bilden den Kern seines kompositorischen Schaffens. In seinen Werken verwendet er eine ganze Reihe verschiedener Kompositionstechniken, wie freie Zwölftontechnik, aleatorische Elemente, Minimalismus und traditionellere Formen. Diese musikalische Vielfalt findet sich auch in Concento. Original für zwei Bratschen komponiert, gibt es jetzt auch eine Einrichtung für zwei Celli von dem berühmten Cellisten David Geringas. Als Ergänzung zum spärlichen, vorwiegend klassischen Repertoire ist dieses erfrischend unkonventionelle Stück eine echte Bereicherung. Text von David Geringas: Als ich das erste Mal Vytautas Laurušas’ Concento di corde hörte, war ich sofort von dem eindrucksvollen Werk begeistert. Viele der bevorzugten Kompositionstechniken des Komponisten finden sich auch in dieser Arbeit wieder. Der erste Satz verwickelt die beiden Instrumente in einer Kombination unterschiedlichster Techniken - Aleatorik, Minimalismus, freie Tonalität und traditionelle Formen - in dichte lyrische Dialoge. Nicht zuletzt durch die emotionale Gestik der beiden mal stark aufeinander bezogenen, mal scheinbar unabhängig voneinander geführten Stimmen wird eine permanent wachsende, dramatische Spannung erzeugt. Die so entstandene Intensität entlädt sich mit dem Beginn des zweiten Satzes in mitreißende Virtuosität. Die beiden Presto-Teile dieses Satzes markieren die jeweiligen Höhepunkte der aus unaufhaltsam permutierenden Tonfiguren entstandenen Aktivität. Erst gegen Ende beruhigt sich das Geschehen wieder und die Instrumenten-Protagonisten klingen auf dem gleichen Ton im unisono aus. Auf meine Anregung hin, hat Laurušas das ursprünglich für zwei Violen geschriebenen Concento di corde für zwei Celli eingerichtet. Zum einen eröffnet der sonore Klang der tieferen Streichinstrumente dem Stück eine zusätzliche Dimension, zum anderen bereichert es das Duett-Repertoire für Violoncelli auf äußerst interessante und vielfältige Weise. About the Composer and the song: Grenet was born in Cuba on June 12, 1893 and died on November 4, 1950. He was a pianist, composer and arranger. He composed music for music magazines and movies. He is also the author of famous pieces of Cuban dance music. In 1927, the premiere of the zarzuela La Niña Rita, or La Habana de 1830 was presented at the Teatro Regina, with music by Grenet and Ernesto Lecuona. From this zarzuela, Grenet's song, the tango-congo 'Ay, Mama Inés', became popular and continues to be so today.

Armando Manzanero Canché (Ticul, Yucatán, December 7, 1935), is a Grammy-winning Mexican singer-songwriter, musician, composer and music producer. After 'Adoro', one of the most remembered songs by Armando Manzanero is 'Contigo Aprendi', which tells us about all the beauty that the love of his partner has brought to his life. He has written more than 400 songs, of which more than 50 have achieved international fame, such as 'Somos novios' and 'Esta tarde vi llover'. Farrés was born in 1903 in the small city of Quemado de Güines, Las Villas, Cuba. Although unable to read or write music, he became a prolific and world-renowned composer. His songs include Quizás, Quizás, Quizás, Acércate Más, Tres Palabras, Toda Una Vida and his own favorite Madrecita written in honor of his mother and sung to this day in Latin America on Mother's Day. His songs have been performed and recorded by stars such as Doris Day, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Eydie Gorme, Pedro Vargas, Raquel Bitton, Charles Aznavour, Luis Miguel, Maurice Chevalier, Sara Montiel, Olga Guillot, John Serry Sr., Cake[1][2] and many others. Charlie Haden included Tres Palabras on his Grammy-winning 2001 album Nocturne. In 1962, Farrés and his wife, Fina del Peso Farrés, left Cuba. They never returned. He died in West New York, New Jersey, in 1985.

It was internationally popularized by Los Panchos, who collaborated on their rendition with Eydie Gormé in 1964.[1] Among the over 300 songs that he created, this song was considered Carrillo's biggest hit both in Mexico and internationally.[2] Since its creation, the song has been covered by several artists, including among them Mexican singer Luis Miguel, Cuban jazz pianist Bebo Valdes, k-pop boygroup EXO, and the Mexican American musicians Los Lobos.

Rafael Hernández (October 24, 1892 – December 11, 1965) was a Puerto Rican songwriter, author of hundreds of popular songs in the Latin American repertoire.
