The Easter Egg Rock is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for two Cellos. The Easter Egg Rock is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Modern Rock music has its origins in Rock’n’Roll, with the first use of the word in 1951 by an Ohio DJ. The first big hit was Bill Haley’s Rock Around the Clockin 1955, but other artists such as Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent and Little Richard all have strong claims to being the first Rock’n’Roll artist.The Easter Egg Rock is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Easter Egg Rock is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. The lower part drives the music playing eighth note power chords (aka perfect fifths). The first part sings over the top with a variation of long notes and fast notes. Doing this in C minor gives it a dark rock atmosphere. Both parts get a chance to show off a bit with one of the hardest parts being in the 2nd cello half way through, feel free to switch that to the first part if need be. It's not too hard. You could expect upper high school players to college players to play it without too much difficulty. Have fun enjoying this rocking piece.

Despite the song’s appearance relatively late in the Beatles’ discography, it was one of the first songs that Paul McCartney wrote, at the age of 16. When the song was finally recorded in 1966, Paul McCartney felt it was too slow and turgid. George Martin simply solved the problem by speeding up the tape and raising the pitch by one semitone. This version of When I’m Sixty-Four is arranged as a duet for two Cellos. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet version of this duet.Musicians at an intermediate level will find this ideal for formal and informal concert performance. The Easter Bonnet Bop is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. The origins of the word Bop lie in the scat language of the ‘40s; Bop quickly became associated with the fast Bebop jazz of the period as musicians vocalised the offbeat rhythms of their angular melodies. Later in the ‘50s when Rockabilly and Rock’n’Roll first appeared, Bop was used to describe both the dance moves and the dance venues themselves. The Easter Bonnet Bop is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms and accidentals.
