In an effort to stay cool by thinking cool, the most-performed (according to BMI) Christmas song was born. I saw a spiral pad on his (Wells's) piano with four lines written in pencil, Tormé recalled. They started, 'Chestnuts roasting..., Jack Frost nipping..., Yuletide carols..., Folks dressed up like Eskimos.' Bob didn't think he was writing a song lyric. He said he thought if he could immerse himself in winter he could cool off. Forty minutes later that song was written. I wrote all the music and some of the lyrics. The first section follows a more traditional harmonization of the melody with the trumpets providing an ornamental statement of the Gloria. The trombone takes over the melody at the key change, ultimately handing it off to the horn for the final Gloria to bring the piece to a close. The trumpets frequently provide an ornamental harmony that floats above the rest of the ensemble, with trombone adding to this in the final bars of the piece. This arrangement would be an exciting addition to any holiday concert. Accessible and challenging for each member of the ensemble.

It was republished in the Olney Hymns, 1779, Bk. i., No. 79, with the heading Praise for the Fountain opened. It is based on Zech. xiii. 1, In that day there shall be a Fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. This appeared in Cotterill's Selection, 8th ed., 1819, No. 43, in 5 stanzas of 4 lines, and consists of stanzas i.-v. very much altered. In Bickersteth's Christian Psalmody, 1833, No. 49, that same opening stanza is given, with a return, in most of the remaining six stanzas, to the original text. The question as to by whom these alterations were made, first in Cotterill's Selection off 1819, and then in Bickersteth's Christian Psalmody, 1833, is answered by R. W. Gabriel's Message (The Angel Gabriel to Heaven Came) is a folk carol from the Basque Country, the region that straddles the westernmost Pyrenees Mountains in adjacent parts of northern Spain and southwestern France. A vernacular paraphrase of the 13th/14th-century Latin carol, Angelus ad virginem, the text was translated from Basque and paraphrased into English by the Anglican priest and scholar Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924). Commonly sung at Advent and Christmas, Gabriel's Message quotes the biblical account of the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38) and the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) in its opening lines:The angel Gabriel from heaven came,his wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame;All hail, said he, thou lowly maiden Mary,most highly favoured lady. Gloria!The Basque tune was collected and published by the French composer Charles Bordes (1863-1909) in Archives de la tradition basque (1890) and was arranged and published by the English organist/choirmaster Edgar Pettman (1866-1943) in his 1892 collection, Modern Christmas Carols. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice. Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).

Stuttgart, Germany, 1872) moved to St. Petersburg, Russia, to work as a tutor at the age of seventeen. But his love for the music of Haydn and Mozart impelled him to a career in music. He moved back to Germany in 1811, settled in Stuttgart, and remained there for most of his life. The prestigious Cotta music firm published some of his early compositions and sent him to study music in Italy, where he came under the influence of Palestrina's music. In 1821 Kocher founded the School for Sacred Song in Stuttgart, which popularized four-part singing in the churches of that region. He was organist and choir director at the Striftsckirche in Stuttgart from 1827 to 1865. Kocher wrote a treatise on church music, Die Tonkunst in der Kirche (1823), collected a large number of chorales in Zions Harfe (1855), and composed an oratorio, two operas, and some sonatas. William H. A traditional New Orleans tune arranged for brass quinted with an optional part for hand drum. The song is a certain crowd pleaser perfect for getting the audience on their feet and clapping along. The rhythm of the arrangement is a funky caribe beat known as a bamboula. A bamboula was a primitive drum that made its way to New Orleans via Haiti during the 18th century. Enslaved people would gather in Congo Square, next to the French Quarter and dance to the rhythm of the bamboula. The dances also became known as a bamboula. The infectious beat made its way into the music of the early New Orleans Jazz Bands. Even today, if you visit Congo Square in New Orleans, you often find groups of musicians and dancers enjoying the beat of the bamboula!

Wiener Blut ('Viennese Blood' or 'Viennese Spirit') Op. 354 is a waltz by Johann Strauss II first performed by the composer on 22 April 1873. The waltz was chiefly noted by Strauss' biographers as the début of Strauss with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
