Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.971797 Composed by Britt Andrew Burns. Contemporary. Score and parts. 22 pages. Indie Classical Publications #42345. Published by Indie Classical Publications (A0.971797). BEING WITH TIME was composed in 2002. It is one of my very early compositions and my first attempt at writing a brass quintet. I performed various low brass instruments in my younger years, and I learned a lot about how to write for brass as a result. The horn is the most challenging of the parts, but nothing here is too overwhelming for a college-level player. The work is set in a type of rondo form with various new ideas introduced throughout the work. The title is based on the feeling of peace in your life one gets while focusing on the present moment instead of worrying about the future.v Difficulty: Grade 4 (medium advanced). Duration: 4:40.

The Gloucestershire Wassail (Wassail, Wassail! All Over the Town) - brass quintet

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726087 Composed by Traditional English Folk Song. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Traditional. Score and parts. 17 pages. Con Spirito Music #4777739. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726087). The Gloucestershire Wassail is one of many traditional wassails (festive songs, carols) associated with the centuries-old tradition of wassailing. In the West of England from where this particular song comes, groups of people would go door to door, singing and offering a drink of mulled cider (wassail) from a large, decorated bowl (the wassail bowl) in exchange for other drinks, food, and gifts. The custom of sharing the wassail bowl is supposedly of Saxon origin, a drinking ritual dating to the Middle Ages and derived from one of the observances of the Feast of Yule. Today it is associated with Christmas-tide, the twelve days from December 25 through January 5. The word wassail itself comes from an Anglo-Saxon greeting (Middle English waes hael) meaning be thou hale or be in good health. This arrangement of a sprightly West-English traditional song features the voices of the brass quintet in various combinations, keys, and harmonizations, echoing the strains of wassail-singers across time and place.©Copyright 2019 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic. s'Feieromd (Feierabendlied)
Quatuor de Cuivres : 2 trompettes, trombone, tuba
Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.546967
(+)
Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.546967 Composed by Traditional german song. Arranged by Felix Linsmeier. Classical,Folk,Multicultural,Sacred,Traditional,World. Score and parts. 10 pages. Felix Linsmeier #156909. Published by Felix Linsmeier (A0.546967). S'Feieromd (or sometimes Feierohmd, Feierobnd) was written in 1903 by the german poet Anton Günther. The lyrics are originally written in erzgebirgisch a central-german dialect spoken mainly in the central Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) in Saxony. The traditional song is about Feierabend meaning quitting time or the end of work. The sentimental melody often gets performed at funerals but also works really well as the last piece of a concert. This arrangement helps bringing out the emotional core of the traditional melody with rich and colourful harmonies. It also features a trombone solo at the beginning which brings back the sentimental lonelyness of the original song.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1030615 Composed by William Billings. Arranged by Mike Allsen. Classical,Praise & Worship,Renaissance,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 41 pages. Aaron Hettinga #636010. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.1030615). William Billings (1746-1800) was North America’s first great choral composer. He spent most of his life in Boston, working at various times as a tanner or as minor civic official, and occasionally as a church musician. Billings seems to have had little formal music training, but when he was just 22, he also set himself up as an itinerant singing-master, teaching “singing-schools,†where children and adults could learn the rudiments of musical notation and solfege. To feed the market he and other singing-masters had helped to create, Billings published six collections of music, mostly for SATB voices, The first of these, The New England Psalm-Singer (1770) featured a frontispiece engraved by his friend Paul Revere. Billings was fairly prosperous by 1780s, but his good fortune faded in the 1790s. His final collection of music, The Continental Harmony of 1794, was published for his benefit by a group of Boston friends. Billings died destitute in 1800. Billings composed some 340 pieces, mostly collected in his printed editions. This music has a rough-edged and sturdy beauty that is distinctly different from anything in contemporary Europe. The vast majority of Billings’s works were hymns or “psalm tunes.†He was particularly attracted to the great English hymn-writer Isaac Watts (1674-1748), though Billings himself wrote verses for many of his hymns. One of the most famous Billings “psalm tunes,†Chester is not a Christian hymn, but rather a patriotic song of defiance directed against the British. Billings spent nearly all of the Revolutionary War in Boston and made no secret of his patriot sentiments. Chester was first published in 1770, but when he republished it in his The Singing-Master’s Assistant during the height of the war in 1778, Billings added a verse calling out the “infernal league†of the leading British generals Howe, Burgoyne, Clinton, Prescot and Cornwallis. Many brass-players will know Chester from the finale of William Schuman’s 1957 band piece A New England Triptych. Billings also composed over 50 “fuging-tunesâ€â€”a genre that usually included a short introduction and a repeated contrapuntal section. (These fuging sections usually begin with imitation, but they are otherwise not at all like classical fugues written in Europe at the time.) The fuging-tune Creation is one of his later works, published in The Continental Harmony of 1794, and experiments with the form. It sets two verses of the Watts hymn “When I With Pleasing Wonder Stand†though final line of verse 1 is repeated in a striking phrase that suddenly moves twice as fast (m.15). The fuging section begins in m.30, and rather than the usual exact repeat, Billing writes an entirely new and more elaborate second section beginning at m.44. Billings first published the simple but beautiful Africa in 1770, and published a revised version in 1778; the later version appearing with the Isaac Watts hymn “Now Shall My Inward Joys Arise.†I first arranged Africa in 1995, for the Glenwood Moravian Trombone Choir (Madison, WI), and I edited it for this publication. Phrasing and articulations marked here reflect the original vocal texts. Africa has long been a favorite of the Glenwood group. Chester and Creation were arranged in 2022. Mike Allsen February 2022.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1033890 Composed by Jaromir Vejvoda. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Holiday,Pop,Wedding. Score and parts. 41 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #639202. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1033890). Jaromir Vejvoda, born in 1902 in the Czech city of Zbraslav, was a fiddler and flugelhorn player. As a young man, he began writing music while working as a bartender. In 1927 he composed a particularly rollicking, toe-tapping tune. He persuaded the Czech-American composer Eduard Ingriš to write an arrangement for the piece, and the result was titled "ModÅ™anská polka" (ModÅ™any being the Prague suburb in which it was first performed). In 1934 Václav Zeman added lyrics, and the title changed to "Škoda lásky," Czech for “Wasted Love.” It also became known as “Rosamunde.” The public loved it. It was so successful that Vejvoda was able to quit tending bar and turn full time to music. The polka soon spread to other countries. Lew Brown and Wladimir Timm added English lyrics, and when the Andrews Sisters recorded it in 1939 as “Beer Barrel Polka,” it became one of their biggest hits. During World War II it was the favorite song of the Western Allies and has since been played and recorded by literally dozens of artists. Suggested tempo for this brass quintet “Škoda lásky” is 120 BPM. It opens in C major, changes to F major, then back to C. All five instruments get a chance to shine. There are no really tricky rhythmic patterns, and the notes are, for the most part, within the normal playing range of each instrument. Some possible exceptions: Trombone’s highest notes are F above the staff; it’s lowest, G at the bottom; Tuba’s highest notes are F in the staff; Trumpet 2’s highest are its G at the top of its staff. Completed in 2022, performance time runs about 3 minutes. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge. He would also like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms. Contact him directly at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. For more arrangements by Les, enter "Sweetwater Brass Press" (without the quotation marks) in the search box. (Also, purchase of this piece entitles you to your choice of another of his arrangements at no charge; send a copy of your purchase receipt directly to him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.)

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802627 Composed by Richard John (Gb1) Thompson. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 7 pages. Peet du Toit #6050213. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802627). The Banks O' Doon (Modern Scots: The Banks o Doon) is a Scots song written by Robert Burns in 1791, sometimes known as Ye Banks and Braes (after the opening line of the third version). Burns set the lyrics to an air called The Caledonian Hunt's Delight. Its melodic schema was also used for Phule Phule Dhole Dhole, a song by Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. The song was inspired by the story of Margaret (Peggy) Kennedy (1766-95), who was seduced and then abandoned by Andrew McDouall, the son of a wealthy family and sometime Member of Parliament for Wigtonshire. Kennedy sued for a declarator of marriage, but died prior to adjudication of the case. Although the Consistorial court found the marriage claim valid, the Court of Session decided the marriage claim failed, but found McDouall to be the father of Kennedy's daughter and ordered that he pay £3,000 to Kennedy's estate and provide for the child.(Burns wrote a second poem about Peggy, who he had met when she was 18 - Young Peggy Blooms.)

Brass Ensemble Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1084139 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 26 pages. Regis Bookshar #688341. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1084139). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Brass Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (26 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Brass Octet, consisting of 4 Bb Trumpets, 3 Trombones and 1 Tuba. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Brass Octet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Brass Quintet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available.

Brass Ensemble Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.584639 Composed by Peter Green. Arranged by Jeff Tincher. Contemporary. Score and parts. 36 pages. Jeff Tincher #5991789. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.584639). This is the first single from the original Fleetwood Mac lineup that made it up the charts. Before the made it as a pop band, the original group was a blues band. In the original key from their Then Play On, this was a double A-side single. I fell in love with this song when I first heard it for it's style that was quite unusual for the time. It wasn't on the original release of the album. But when it became a big hit, they replaced When You Say with this song. Duration = 9:36. I've Gotta Get A Message To You

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802647 By Bee Gees. By Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb, and Robin Gibb. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Dance,Disco. Score and parts. 23 pages. Peet du Toit #6197563. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802647). I've Gotta Get a Message to You is a song by the Bee Gees. Released as a single on 7 September 1968, it was their second number-one single on the UK Singles Chart and their first US Top 10 hit.The song is about a man who, awaiting his execution in the electric chair, begs the prison chaplain to pass a final message on to his wife. Robin Gibb, who wrote the lyrics, said that the man's crime was the murder of his wife's lover, though the lyrics do not explicitly allude to the identity of the victim. Robin said, This is about a prisoner on Death Row who only has a few hours to live. He wants the prison chaplain to pass on a final message to his wife. There's a certain urgency about it. Myself and Barry wrote it. It's a bit like writing a script. Sometimes you can sit there for three hours with your guitar and nothing will happen. Then in the last ten minutes something will spark. The song was written with Percy Sledge in mind to record it. Sledge did record it in February 1970 but Atlantic did not issue his version in the United States at the time.Barry recalled, In those days, the lyrics were almost pretty well done on the spot. I don't remember the fundamentals on how the lyrics were formed, except that we were writing about a guy on death row. That was it.Robin adds:It was like acting, you see, we said, let's pretend that somebody, his life is on the line, somebody's going to the chair. What would be going through their mind? Let's not make it doom and gloom but sort of an appeal to the person he loves. Because right now that's all he cares about. Regardless of whether he's done a bad thing, he is a human being, and he's sending out this last message. There's someone out there whom he loves. It's a torch song, but within a very sort of theatrical sense. Not sort of abstract, but definitely somebody in a very bad situation whose life is going to end. What would they be saying, you know? This is it: 'Gotta get a message to you, hold on.Revive this hit on your brass instruments and enjoy!

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.782235 Composed by William Byrd. Arranged by James Haynor. Praise & Worship,Renaissance,Sacred,Spiritual. Score and parts. 32 pages. James Haynor #3882793. Published by James Haynor (A0.782235). William Byrd (birth date variously given as c.1539/40 or 1543 – 4 July 1623), was an English composer of the Renaissance. He wrote in many of the forms current in England at the time, including various types of sacred and secular polyphony, keyboard (the so-called Virginalist school), and consort music. Although he produced sacred music for Anglican services, sometime during the 1570s he became a Roman Catholic and wrote Catholic sacred music later in his life. Libera me, Domine written for five voices is a great example of his work and transcribes well for brass quintet. ( Duration 6:30 )

Peet du Toit #6861453. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.957662). The Ländler is a folk dance in 3/4 time which was popular in Austria, Bavaria, German Switzerland, and Slovenia at the end of the 18th century. It is a partner dance which strongly features hopping and stamping. It might be purely instrumental or have a vocal part, sometimes featuring yodeling. When dance halls became popular in Europe in the 19th century, the Ländler was made quicker and more elegant, and the men shed the hobnail boots which they wore to dance it. Along with a number of other folk dances from Germany and Bohemia, it is thought to have influenced the development of the waltz. Here's a brass quintet version for your enjoyment.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.528189 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Diego Marani. 20th Century,Classical,Instructional,Ragtime,Standards. Score and parts. 10 pages. Diego Marani #5213629. Published by Diego Marani (A0.528189). The Little Nigar is the original title by composer Claude Debussy for a short piece for piano, composed in 1909 for a piano method and published the same year. It was later also published as a single piece, entitled The Little Negro and Le petit nègre. Debussy regularly sought exotic influences. In The Little Nigar, he alluded to banjo chords and drums, influenced by American minstrel shows. The piece, marked allegro, begins with a first theme presenting jazzy syncopes in 2/4 time, in the then popular ragtime style. This arrangement for brass quartet includes the following parts: Bb Trumpet 1, Bb Trumpet 2, Trombone or F Horn, Tuba.
