Sandm�nnchen and Evening Prayer is a short extract from Engelbert Humperdinck's opera H�nsel und Gretel. It depicts the visit of the Sandm�nnchen (the sleep fairy) who has come to put Hansel and Gretel to sleep. Just before they fall asleep Gretel reminds Hansel that they mustn't forget to sing a prayer before they sleep - the famous evening prayer first heard in the opera's overture.
