Tequila è un celebre brano latin rock eseguito da The Champs nel 1958, reinterpretato in seguito da molti altri artisti.Il brano è stato scritto dal sassofonista Danny Flores, accreditato con il suo nome d'arte, Chuck Rio, perché in quel periodo egli era sotto contratto con un'altra etichetta discografica. Tequila è basata su un ritmo cubano mambo beat. La parola tequila viene gridata tre volte durante il brano.La versione originale del brano, incisa da The Champs il 23 dicembre 1957, è stata pubblicata il 15 gennaio del 1958 dalla Challenge Records come retro del singolo su 7 Train to Nowhere/Tequila. In seguito è stata inclusa nell'EP 7 Go, Champs, Go! e nell'LP avente lo stesso titolo, entrambi pubblicati nel 1958.La canzone raggiunse il primo posto nelle classifiche pop e R&B, e continuerà a essere un importante riferimento della cultura pop fino ai nostri giorni.Successivamente The Champs proporranno variazioni e riarrangiamenti di questo brano negli album Great Dance Hits e Spotlight On The Champs & The Fabulous Cyclones, entrambi del 1962, con i titoli Tequila Twist e Too Much Tequila. Nel primo caso su ritmo twist, nel secondo in versione calypso.

This easy arrangement for brass quintet has been adapted to be simple to perform and understand the period minuet form of the original work for various levels of musical knowledge. It can be freely played by beginning students due to the ease built into the piece in relation to the author's suggested interpretation. Recommended for performance in academic recitals, and public festivals, it also serves as a study of Baroque repertoire. This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach.

From Massenet’s 1885 opera, Le Cid, these three movements are from his popular orchestral concert ballet suite of Spanish dances and showcase the technical and interpretative capabilities of brass quintet performers. Of the ten dances in the orchestral ballet suite, Castillane, Andalouse, and Catalane have been arranged to feature quintet members in solo roles with brilliant scoring and hauntingly beautiful melodic settings. Scottish, Air and Waltz (6/8 or 3/4 time). The antiquarian William Chappell claims the tune is English on the strength of its being included in a Collection of English Songs by Dale (who published about 1780-1794) under the title Lost is my quiet. However, the collector John Glen (1891) relates a delightful story of the tune's origins involving the famous Scots poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796), who wrote to publisher George Thomson in 1794:Do you known the history of the air? It is curious enough. A good many years ago, Mr. James Miller, writer in your good own (Edinburgh), a gentleman whom, possibly, you know, was in company with our good friend Clarke; and taling of Scottish music, Miller expressed an ardent ambition to be able to compose a Scots air. Mr. Clarke, partly by way of a joke, told him to keep to the black keys of the harpsichord, and preserve some kind of rhythm, and he would infallibly compose a Scots air. Certain it is, that, in a few days, Mr. Miller produced the rudiments of an air which Mr. Clarke, with some touches and corrections, fashioned into the tune in question. Ritson, you know, has the same story of the black keys; but this account which I have just given you, Mr. Clarke informed me of several years ago.Miller's tune was first published under the title Caledonian Hunt's Delight (The) in Gow's 2nd Collection (1788), but Glen concludes that it is more likely that Lost is my quiet is a poor adaptation and nothing else. He also notes there is a tune having a supposed resemblance in Playford's Appollo's Banquet (1690) entitled Scotch Tune (A) (No. 68), but in the end he believes that neither Chappell's arguments nor facts are strong enough to deprive Mr. Miller of his claim. The Caledonian Hunt's Delight appears also in George Thomson's A Select Collection of Original Scottish Airs for the Voice (Edinburgh, 1793-1797), arranged by Kozeluch. A rondo on the air was composed by Domenico Corri (1746-1825) under the title Favourite Irish Air (which, of course, it is not).

WINDCREST #5718967. Published by WINDCREST (A0.945052). DOS BAILES, Two Dances, has been written as a show piece for the more advanced brass quintet. Performance time is about five minutes and fifty seconds, using the suggested tempo markings. The introduction includes a cadenza for the two trumpet players. Ranges are reasonable, except for the trumpet I part which has a written D above high C in the cadenza. The French Horn part has several instances of high staff tessitura and ascends to Bb and B above the staff a couple of times. The following keys are featured: c minor, C Major, Eb Major, Bb Major. There are also excursions to modal harmonies and juxtapositions of various hemiola-type rhythmic patterns. Trumpet, French Horn, and trombone performers must be able to employ multiple tonguing; and all players must demonstrate bravura playing as well as a delicate waltz style.

Nel blu, dipinto di blu, noto anche come Volare, è un brano musicale del 1958 dei cantanti italiani Domenico Modugno e Johnny Dorelli, scritto dallo stesso Modugno insieme a Franco Migliacci. Presentato per la prima volta al Festival di Sanremo 1958, fu vincitore di quell'edizione e da lì ottenne un successo planetario, fino a diventare una delle canzoni italiane più famose nel mondo e con il maggiore riscontro commerciale di sempre. La parola che apre il ritornello, Volare, divenuta identificativa della canzone, è stata depositata alla SIAE come titolo alternativo della stessa. Il brano partecipò anche all'Eurovision Song Contest 1958, classificandosi al terzo posto.

Although it was originally known as a ‘Russian- Romani’ folksong, at the beginning of the Twentieth Century, it achieved a much wider international reputation when Italian-born British composer, Adalgiso Ferraris, published a new version in 1910. It was also later sung and recorded by Al Bowlly in 1939. It has also gained some currency as a jazz tune.
