Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1157987 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. 14 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758285. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1157987). This energetic, musically satisfying, one-minute fanfare was composed in 2004 during Daniel Thrower’s time serving as professor of trumpet at Brigham Young University-Idaho. It was appropriately premiered by the BYU-I Faculty Brass Quintet. “Academic Fanfare†became the theme tune for the Phoenix Chamber Brass, and was used to open every PCB performance for a number of years. Dr. Thrower was a founding member of PCB, and performed with them for the 2006 – 07 season. Aside from its use with BYU-I and PCB as a concert opener, the audience-grabbing nature of “Academic Fanfare†is extremely effective for announcing anything of importance, such as ceremonial openers, graduations, inaugurations, award ceremonies, etc. It is important to keep in mind, however, that in such circumstances, shorter fanfares may be more fitting. Thrower’s collection of 20 short fanfares for brass quintet is a must for every gigging brass quintet, available through Hickman Music Editions (www.HickmanMusicEditions.com).

Composed by Robert Lowry (1826-1899) and Robert Lowry (1826-1899). Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian, Gospel, Sacred. Score, Set of Parts. 9 pages. Published by Con Spirito Music (S0.180831). - Score,Set of Parts - Christian,Gospel,Sacred - Con Spirito Music
?How Can I Keep From Singing?? is, perhaps, the second most well-known gospel hymn authored by Robert Lowry (1826-1899) ? the first being ?Shall We Gather at the River?? Born in Philadelphia, Lowry studied at Pennsylvania's Lewisburg (today Bucknell) University; was ordained a Baptist minister in 1854; served in churches in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey; and later returned to Lewisburg and served as chancellor. Best remembered as a writer of more than 500 gospel songs and hymns, Lowry served as editor for Biglow and Main publishing company, where he edited numerous gospel song books and hymn books. Like Horatio Spafford?s ?It Is Well With My Soul,? Lowry?s ?How Can I Keep From Singing?? (also known as ?Endless Song?) expresses confidence in the eternal promises of Christ in spite of temporal circumstances. Its first verse and refrain proclaim: "My life flows on in endless song above earth?s lamentation; I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn, that hails a new creation. (Refrain): No storm can shake my inmost calm while to that Rock I?m clinging; since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?" This intermediate-level arrangement is quick to rehearse, satisfying to play, and well-received by audiences. Suitable for high school ensembles, church and community musicians, and professionals for use in concert, recital, and worship. Ideal as a prelude or offertory/communion anthem. ©Copyright 2016 Todd Marchand / ConSpiritoMusic.com

Brass quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS164 Composed by Edward Taylor Paull. Arranged by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 24 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS164. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS164). 9 x 12 in inches. While doing some research on pre-20th Century American composers, I came across the name of Edward Taylor Paull. In all of my years as a flutist, conductor, and now writer, I never heard of Paull before, but I was curious enough to look for any sound files of his music, and came across both live piano performances and piano roll performances of the Ben HurChariot Race March on YouTube.Edward Taylor Paul, known in some circles as The Other March King was born on February 16th, 1858. In Gerrardstown, Virginia, now West Virginia. While not too much is known about his early years, we do know that his adult years were spent as itinerant musician, instrument sales person, selling pianos and organs, composer, as well as publisher. The Civil War era had Patrick Sarsfield Gillmore as the most famous bandleader and composer. As children of this era, John Philip Sousa and Edward Taylor Paull, were destined to follow in Gillmore's footsteps. While Sousa became successful through his work as both conductor and composer, even attaining the moniker of March King, the road to success and fame was more difficult for Paull. We do know, that by 1878, he was the manager of a music store that sold pianos and organs, eventually going bankrupt, and having to be bailed out by his own father. By 1894, he was the manager of the Richmond Music Publishing Company, and this was the same year that he was issued his first copyright on the Ben Hur Chariot Race March This was originally written for piano, particularly, the parlour piano. This was to become one of many marches and parlour piano compositions by 'E.T, Paull. He may not have been the most skilled musician of his era, but he was wise enough to realize how popular marches became in 1880's and '90's.Paull's compositions were also associated with beautiful color covers. He was fortunate to live in Richmond, Virginia, and the lithography company of A. Hoen & Company, provided him the highest quality and richly-colored art work for his compositions. This company was unique, in that they used a five- color process, which added depth to the color. Thepopularity of marches, plus the great covers, both contributed to the 60,000 copies that the Ben Hur Chariot Race March sold in its first printing. Not bad, for a first composition.Paull found inspiration for his march from the novel Ben Hur, written and published by General Lew Wallace in 1880. Paull dedicated his composition to Wallace, who sold many copies of his book. Eventually, there was a stage play and three film renditions; one in 1907, 1925, and 1959. Some time in the 1920's, the Sousa Band recorded the Ben Hur Chariot Race March, and of course, the MGM, 1925 film version, helped in a renewed popularity of Paull's composition.Edward Taylor Paull died in 1924, and his wife retained the copyright, until it went into public domain. What remains today are a few music examples in the Library of Congress collection, as well as some 78's and piano rolls. While I did my research on this piece, I tried to find any applicable Sousa manuscripts of a possible arrangement, but I could not findany. I usually write for woodwinds, but in this case, I thought that a brass quintet would sound far better. I also chose a moderate tempo, so as not to lose some of the nuances of the original composition.

Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.954085 Composed by Melody Dawning. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 33 pages. Melody Dawning #3004801. Published by Melody Dawning (A0.954085). Maneo [pronounced MAH-nee-oh] is a Latin word meaning I remain or I await. The concept behind this piece is the process of waiting for and working toward the fulfillment of goals and dreams that seem far off, which requires both patience and persistence. The first movement, Patience, is painfully slow and full of dense, dissonant chords that avoid resolution. Although the melody wanders through several tonal centers, in many ways it feels as though it has not gone anywhere. However, as the movement progresses to a climax, the incessant tritone dissonance finally begins to dissolve. In the second movement, Persistence, the augmented triad dominates both harmonically and melodically for much of the piece, accompanied by relentless eighth-note motion. The main theme from the first movement appears first as an accompaniment figure, and later in a more prominent melodic role in combination with other motives used throughout the movement. A contrasting, dream-like middle section represents catching a glimpse of reaching the sought-after goal, and this theme returns towards the end in a triumphant finish. The two movements are played consecutively with no pause in between.

Bugle Call Rag Composed by Carey Morgan and Eubie Blake Arranged by Jari VillanuevaScore2 Trumpets in BbHorn in FTromboneTubaOptional Drum Set Eb Alto Horn Substitute part for Horn in FTreble Clef Baritone Substitute part for TromboneJames Hubert Eubie Blake (1887-1983) Blake was born in Baltimore to former slaves, and the only child of 11 that would survive to adulthood. The young Eubie taught himself the organ after his parents put a $75 organ in their home for 25 cents per week (which would take them almost 6 years to pay off). By the age of 15 was playing piano in Baltimore's night clubs, holding a regular job at Agnes Shelton's sporting house. Blake was already an exceptional pianist by the early 1900's, and he had to simplify his music drastically to get it published. Blake was among the pioneers of ragtime, however he was often too far ahead of his time. He released two rags (Charleston Rag and his Baltimore Buzz) in the same year which Scott Joplin released his Maple Leaf Rag. Unfortunately for Blake, the competition was too strong. Part of the reason for Blake's Charleston Rag and his Baltimore Buzz not making the big time may have been due to Blake the progressive nature of his sound. People found it hard to digest his music, especially the publishers. Bugle Call Rag was composed in 1916 with Carey Morgan. It was one of many patriotic selections written by composers during the World War I era. This delightful piece uses bugle calls and quotes There’ll Be A Hot Time In The Old Town Tonight.A retired member of the United States Air Force Band where he served on the Music Production staff (as well as a trumpeter and bugler) and a student of Bill Holcombe, Jari Villanueva continues writing for different ensembles. His arrangements are played by brass quintets all over the country including many military groups. Many of his arrangements can be found on Sheet Music Plus and JV MUSIC.Jari is a 2016 Sheet Music Plus Arranging Contest winner and winner of the 2016 Holiday Arranging Contest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMUSMQhI-lE

Drunken Sailor
Quintette de Cuivres: 2 trompettes, Cor, trombone, tuba
Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226165
(+)
Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226165 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Alessandro Macrì. Broadway,Celtic,Classical,Film/TV,Irish,Musical/Show,Traditional. 11 pages. Music Macri Editions #822193. Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.1226165). Drunken Sailor (letteralmente: Marinaio ubriaco) è un canto marinaresco, conosciuto anche come What Shall We Do with a/the Drunken Sailor? What shall we do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning?

(Substitute for Trombone) "Good-Bye Broadway, Hello France? is a 1917 song composed byBilly Baskette, with lyrics written by C. Francis Reisner and Benny Davis. While the song was popular during its time, it also saw a revival during WorldWar II, where some soldiers preferred World War I songs over the war songsbeing produced at the time. ?How Ya GonnaKeep ?em Down on the Farm (After They?ve Seen Paree?)? is a World War I songthat rose to popularity after the war had ended. The music is by Walter Donaldson. The lyricshighlight concern that American soldiers from rural environments would not wantto return to farm life after experiencing the European city life and culture ofParis during World War I. It became popular among soldiers in the First WorldWar and is remembered as one of the more songs of World War I. This skillful and fun arrangement by Jari Villanueva captures the flavor of theoriginal tunes and would be a great selection commemorating the 100thanniversary of World War I. A retired memberof the United States Air Force Band where he served on the Music Productionstaff (as well as a trumpeter and bugler) and a student of Bill Holcombe, JariVillanueva continues writing for different ensembles. His arrangements areplayed by bands, brass ensembles and brass quintets all over the countryincluding many military groups. Many of his arrangements can be found on SheetMusic Plus and JV MUSIC.
