Published by Diego MaraniThe Planets, Op. 32, is a seven-movement orchestral suite by the English composer Gustav Holst, written between 1914 and 1916. Each movement of the suite is named after a planet of the solar system and its corresponding astrological character as defined by Holst.
"Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity", is the most thoroughly English section of the work, with Jupiter's high spirits projected through a broad, infectiously energetic melody. A stately, more serious processional theme (a sort of chorale) then enters, its royal dignity fully intact, after which the vigorous melody returns.
This arrangement for brass quintet contains the following parts: Bb Trumpet 1, Bb Trumpet 2, F Horn, Trombone, Tuba.
