This is a solo guitar arrangement of the 1st Movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata. It was arranged in the key of D minor to make it more suitable to the guitar fretboard, which is also a half step higher than the key Beethoven had originally chosen for the piece.

45 New Classical Guitar Arrangements in Open D Tuning

Theclassical guitar book in open D guitar tuning presents a new, and I think, additionalway of approaching classical guitar repertoire. Tuning to an open chord, in this case, DADF#AD can have itsbenefits. The most obvious is that amajor chord can be played with a single finger, or in the key of D, with openstrings.

Everyattempt has been made to keep true to the original manuscripts, butoccasionally the tune is transposed from the original, or the odd note has beenaltered to make the pieces playable. Ihave kept the arrangements primarily in the keys of D, G or A to take fulladvantage of the open strings in D tuning. In short, this book may not be for the classical guitar purist butdoes expand the repertoire that is lacking with open tunings.
