Be Still for thePresence of the Lord is a beautiful modern hymn/worship song, composed in1986 by David Evans.

In 2019, it wasincluded in a list of the UK?s top 10 most popular hymns of all time.

Whatever one?sspiritual views, this instrumental arrangement is a perfect piece for a momentof calm, schools, mediation, reflection, weddings and intimate gatherings.

My arrangement is set for classical/fingerstyleguitarists. There is a second, slightly altered harmonisation for verse 2, andI?ve added a coda to close this version.

Scarborough Fair - arranged for solo guitar by Dan Jones

This download includestwo versions of the score: one with notes only and the second, notes with TABbelow. Full fingering suggestions (as used by the arranger) are given.

Scarborough Fair is a much-lovedtraditional English ballad, the text of which dates back to medieval times. Ithas been recorded many times by contemporary artists, most famously, Simon andGarfunkel.

In making thisarrangement I am attempting to create a work suitable for the more-advanced orconcert player. My intention has been to use the original theme to construct apiece with structure and harmonic depth.

Scarborough Fair iscomposed in the beautiful, ambient Dorian mode. It is firstly presented in ADorian and midway, modulates to D Dorian before returning to the original modewith a coda. By adjusting the sixth degree of the scale the theme is also heardin Aeolian mode.

I am excited at theidea of using well-known themes to create a concert repertoire suitable for allenvironments and which will appeal to guitarists and non-guitarists alike.

I have also triedperforming the piece with a capo placed at the second fret when I have felt myprogramme needed more harmonic variety.
