TheFlower Duet was writtenby the French composer L�o Delibes. It is set for two voices (sopranoand mezzo-soprano) and occurs during act one of Delibes? opera Lakm� whichwas premiered in Paris in 1883.

The work is one ofthe best-loved arias of all time. It has become iconic due to its use in TV, film,and advertising. Most recently, it is known as the soundtrack to a BritishAirways commercial.

The aria makes an ideal piece of repertoire foradvanced-intermediate and professional guitarists. It is perfect for thoseplaying gigs, in restaurants, at weddings and as a piece of popular repertoirein a recital.

My arrangement is inspired by one made by thefantastic guitarist and arranger Bridget Mermikides. I am grateful to Bridgetfollow allowing me to develop the arrangement to create something which is moresuited to the advanced-level player.

I often lean more towards making something idiomatic for guitar rather than complete historical accuracy, and this piece is no different. IMSLP is the best place to go if you are really looking for the originals. The melody seems to be intact, but I take some liberties with the harmony to make it flow well on guitar. This version also only has the main theme. Also, since I make these primarily as a learning tool, making a super lengthy full version is not ideal. 1. Guitar tablature added. 2. Harmonies changed to be idiomatic for guitar 3. Octave differences 4. Famous except only 5. Guitar chord charts added 6. Composer indications added. 7. Letter names added to aid in sight-reading.

The song is best known for the beautiful version made by Eric Clapton. It was composed and recorded by JJ Cale in 1976.
According to Eric Clapton: "I thought I could be sending the wrong message to people who were in the same boat as me.
