NielGow?s Lament (For the Death of His Second Wife) is a beautifulpiece of fiddle music that is a staple of the Scottish fiddle repertoire. Itsmodal style and scope for ornamentation make it ideal for arrangement for twoguitars. The piece is suitable for intermediate/advanced players.

Niel Gowwas born in Perthshire in 1727 and is the composer of many fine fiddle tunes.His name is sometimes spelt as ?Neil? or even ?Neal?. His first wife wasMargaret Wiseman and following her death, Gow married Margaret Urquhart in 1768.This lament was composed on her death in 1805.

The piece can be simplified by omitting the ornamentation or made more substantial by performing a complete repeat which works very well musically.

Johannes Brahm's Intermezzo No. 2 from Six Pieces for Piano has long been one of my favorite compositions.I consider this work perfect as is, and I would not attempt to try to improve upon it. Therefore, every attempthas been made to keep this as accurate to the original composition as possible. Having said that, the guitarsimply does not have the ability to play all the notes simultaneously that the piano can. Because of this, somenotes have been omitted or transposed.
