A simple drone style bassline in unison from the Cello and Double bass provide a nice moody texture throughout the piece. The piano is the main feature of this piece, utilising a granular piano effect and a sample of locusts to give this piece a mysterious atmosphere with some familiarity.How to play:While this piece can work in a band setting, I feel that the piano player is the most active and will need some good friends who are ok playing very simple lines with little variation if they wish to play the other parts.I feel it's best to set this up for a solo performance with a little more effort and preparation. I think it's best to use a midi-controller keyboard with both a sustain pedal and expression pedal. I suggest programming the bass with a click track or metronome, the locusts and granular effect will need their volume to be assigned to the expression pedal so you can bring them in and out as needed. In regards to the piano loop, while I have provided a transcription of what I played in the track, you are free to use this as inspiration to create your own.Performance time - 3 minIf you happen to record or film this piece, feel free to tag #JLTStudio ... Not So Quiet Please is one of five transcription/Arrangements (Carioca, Hawaiian War Chant, Well Git IT, Oop Bop Sh' Bam) I did for the Buddy Rich Retrospective at the Kool Jazz festival in 1982. After transcribing the originals I updated & re-arranged them to Buddy's liking without obscuring the intent of the originals. This arrangement is a composite of two recordings Buddy did of Quiet with Tommy Dorsey. The solo trumpet (first time at M. 9) can be played with all four trumpets both times if you choose and certain sections can be altered to suit your performance. We agreed on adding the eight bar shout after the drum solo to make the ending a little less anticlimactic. If you prefer, you can jump to M. 85 after the drum solo like the original. The drummer can stay on the toms and bass drum for the entire piece or alternate with a regular ride/hi hat swing pattern.

Published by PJMS MUSIC (A0.798306). Twilight Time is a popular song with lyrics by Buck Ram and music by the Three Suns (Morty Nevins, Al Nevins, and Artie Dunn). This arrangement is an accurate transcription of the Ray Anthony Orchestra recording. The 2 clarinet-2 tenor sax style is that used by The Glenn Miller Orchestra on Sunrise Serenade and other hit recordings. Original instrumental recordings of Twilight Time included those made respectively by the Three Suns[ (1944) and Les Brown & His Band of Renown (1945). Les Brown's version of Twilight Time was recorded in November 1944 and released in early 1945 as the B-side of Sentimental Journey, the first recording of that song. While the A-side featured Doris Day's vocals, Twilight Time was an instrumental. The Platters had a top 10 recording of it in 1960.
