This arrangement, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Is one of the arrangements I did for the Glenn Miller “In the Christmas Mood†recordings. True to the “Miller Sound,†the sax section is configured like the original band and is voiced from the top (clarinet) down in close position with the 2nd tenor doubling the clarinet melody an octave below. Alto 1 plays lead clarinet. Alto 2 plays the 1st Alto part Tenor 1 stays on tenor Tenor 2 stays on tenor doubling the clarinet melody exactly down an octave Baritone plays the 2nd Alto part The original recording featured a female vocal but it can be replaced by any solo instrument. Bb, Eb, & bass clef solo parts are included.

Such was born this unique version of this piece, with screaming trumpet parts, but a trombone soloing the first verse and then taking an extended improvisional solo throughout the middle (because as the lead trombone player of the band, I opted to give it to myself).
