Set the tempo for about 90. This is a trumpet/fluegelhorn feature ballad that requires a strong lyrical soloist that can play in tune. It is very pretty, not difficult but must be played as is to work. First chorus is solo, second chorus first half ensemble, bridge is trumpet solo in front of brass section, last 8 modulates up for a big finish. Appropriate for a working band or a good high school or college band. Dedicated to Randy Brooks. Solo part has more than eighth notes but tempo is slow.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. This series of charts uses nothing more complicated than eighth notes, are not frantic or screamers, extreme ranges and are hemi-demi-semi-quaver free. They depend on intonation and the players being not intimidated by what he is asked to play. There is no contest to see how high you can go before you need oxygen , how many notes you can play in 9 seconds or before your bell overheats , or how long it takes the audience to cover their earsRelaxed and confident players always play more in tune. Good harmonies, lines and realistic rhythm patterns will produce a good result that will swing and be enjoyed by player and listener alike.

Here is a setting for a standard jazz ensemble with ONE main Idea: Let's NOT make this a guitar piece, but a Horn Piece. So, we have all the same structures as the original recording, right down to the time changes, and the shift from slow to fast and back again. The saxes are given the solo vocal line harmonized as a typical sax soli. The brass take Queen's vocal overdubs and operatic elements, and are given a jazz rather than a pop harmonic setting, with some extended and altered harmony, rather than just the triads and 7th chords of the Queen vocal. Sax ranges go to the top of the horn for lead alto, and go to a concert Ab just above the staff for the lead trpt. Trombone goes to a high Bb in the lead solo. First ending should appear at ms. 29 to the repeat. 2nd ending at ms. 35The guitar solos are given to either the piano, in octaves, or the brass, so that a guitar player is an option here, not a necessity. Revised version here, with ending placement errors all fixed up! This is NOT a jazz chart in the improvisational sense: it is a pop song set for a jazz ensemble. Our audio clip shows the opening trombone solo with the piano accomp, into the main vocal line harmonized with saxes. The score precedes the parts in the PDF file, with coverpage and a blank page, so print double-sided until pg. 27. Parts begin at pg. 28 and should be printed single-sided. MBB

The first track on The Temptations in a Mellow Mood, an album released as a crossover to white audiences, this classic Rodgers & Hammerstein tune is a great example of The Temptations close harmony skills. This is an arrangement for Big Band with Solo Male Vocal and TTBB, playable by intermediate ensembles and transcribed note for note from the recording. Starting in a Latin style reminiscent of Manteca, this arrangement is mainly in a big band swing style and briefly transitions to a jazz waltz in the middle section. Due to the vocals being featured, the horns are used sparsely and there are few sections where extended rehearsal is needed. Although the album itself doesn't break down who arranged this initially, it more than likely is an Oliver Nelson creation. Beautifully laid out in A4 size, the score and parts are easy to read and available NOW for digital download. Published by Musiscorz (A0.586505). My arrangement of the Etta James recording of this classic song in 1960 which we are performing soon and is for sale on the Hal Leonard website - ArrangeMe. It has all the parts for my band line up with the Saxes being the horn section. I have also expanded this arrangement to providing the Horn Section as a Brass Quintet and various lead vocal substitutes, complete with scores. I have a NORD and Micro Korg so have arranged the String parts as per the original but have added Hammond Organ which adds a bit of spice and depth. I have added the lead intro string part to the Alto 1 band part in case people don't have a keyboard with good sounds or musician to play the keyboard strings. I have also arranged the strings as a Quartet which can be doubled or played by a chamber orchestra to give a richer sound, score provided. Fast! That?s the way to describe this arrangement. The rhythm section is blazing (270 beats a minute!), but the horns are in half time. This will be a work out for any rhythm section, but the horns will be able to play it with ease. I like to put one arrangement on every record that really pushes the players, and this is the ONE!!! You gotta check out the audio sample on this one! This is the closer of the concert/performance/service hands down. This one will take a little work, but it will be well worth it. One of the most popular hits released by the Spice Girls, 'Wannabe' is a must-have in your repertoire. On the surface it may look like a simple four-chord pop song but there's a lot of fun to be had with hamming up the playful nature of the song. Pass a tambourine around the horn section during moments when there's a lack of horn lines. Get everyone to take part in the vocals where possible; especially the Ha Ha Ha Ha parts.
Arranged for pop/rock band plus horns. Please note that the 'Voice' part can be shared by several vocalists. Mostly unison vocals but the occasional harmony line has been included within the same stave.
