Published by Musiscorz (A0.792025). An amazing Soulful song by Marlena Shaw which my band has performed for 10 years and the most recent arrangement done in 2021. Rhythm section parts are transcribed for those that find it difficult to comp/read chords and improvise. To recreate the original track as closely as possible there are 4 keyboard parts that cover much of the production on the original. With Hammond organ, electric piano and a keyboard strings part. In addition this arrangement has my line up using saxophones but I have re-arranged those parts for Brass too. There is also parts for live strings in a quartet format with a score and can be expanded to a large ensemble giving a full sound. Also included is a score for lead vocals and backing and piano for rehearsal purposes. Band Lineup: Solo Vocal & 3 BV's, 3 Alto Saxophones, 2x Tenor Saxophones, Bari Saxophone, Trumpets x 3, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Keys 1 - Organ/Electric Piano , Keys 2 - Organ/Electric Piano, Nord Electric - Strings, Micro Korg - Fender Rhodes & Hammond Organ, Electric Guitar, Electric Bass, Drums, Tambourine, Hand Claps, String section.

My arrangement of the amazing Earth Wind & Fire song to try and get as close to the original as possible, using the instruments for my school band. It does sound different using saxophones but have included Trumpet & Trombone parts. It is transcribed with Rhythm section parts for those that find it difficult to read chords or improvise/comp. The intro has the runs written out but are no doubt produced in the studio. Sibelius sounds whilst good doesn't allow falls that start immediately but sounds close. The synth part written for a Nord with Brass falls and the String section works really well. The Clav part is on a Micro Korg which needed some programming but is effective. Arrangement is for sale on Sheet Music Direct and Sheet Music Plus. Parts for C Flute and Tuba are scored to add those unique timbres to the ensemble sound.Rather than feature a single instrument, the melody is purposely distributed throughout the ensemble. However, the musical focal point of the piece is intended to be the featured improvisation solo space provided for Bb Tenor Saxophone 1. Since each improvisation is original and unique, the music should retain a newness with each performance. A theory sheet is also provided for less experienced improvisers to enhance soloist creativity within the intended harmonic context.Scored for groups performing at the medium level (grade 2.5 - 3.0), the unique chord progression provides the soloist with myriad possibilities from which to construct improvisational melodies.
