There are also other instrumental versions of this piece including Flute and Clarinet Choirs.Midnight Carousel is in the deep rich key of D minor to aid to the After Dark mood and mystery The piece has two distinct ideas.After the introduction a Circus- type Waltz begins, when this is repeated it has a very haunting counter melody which is both lilting and lyrical. As the piece develops, an out of character playful Scherzo theme begins which adds some intensity and mystery surrounding the Midnight Carousel. Both Waltz and Scherzo themes exchange dialogue throughout this section as if wanting some sort of control, when suddenly two accents appear to signify a halt We then return to the opening theme once more to lead us to a finish.Before the conclusion however, the Scherzo theme re-instates it's ideas before the final bars!The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability- It has been set to intermediate level as the range is around 2 octaves with some parts less than this. Bowing has been left to the performer.Mainly Quarter and Eighth notes used throughout- therefore it would be appropriate for some early-intermediate players. It is around 3 mins 30 long Ideal for concerts, contests, productions, halloween, folklore/fantasy themes or simply something different to add to the repertoirePrice is for the score and parts.

A barcarolle is a traditional folk song sung by Venetian gondoliers, characterized by a rhythm reminiscent of the gondolier's stroke, almost invariably in 6/8 meter at a moderate tempo. or an instrumental piece composed in the same classical style. This modern Barcarolle, is a soft lilting Barcarolle in 6/8 time. It is in concert E flat major and in ternary form. After a gentle introduction the main theme begins with the instruments sharing the melodic line before eventually harmonising. These outer sections provide a lilting, rocking type mood to set the character of the piece. The middle section by contrast, has a lot more movement for variety but keeps within the style of the Barcarolle. On return of the main theme once more the piano takes the melody with small embellishments by the individual parts before a gentle conclusion. Published by David McKeown (A0.589165). The Londonderry Air is among the best loved melodies of Ireland. This beautiful version is arranged as a duet for two Violins. The Londonderry Air was first collected and notated in the mid-nineteenth century in County Londonderry in the North of Ireland, however, the origins of the melody remain unknown. In 1913 the English writer Frederic Weatherley set his poem Danny Boy to the melody. There are many other settings of the Londonderry Air, with various lyrics and in musical styles from orchestral to brass band to jazz, but Danny Boy remains the best known.Londonderry Air is simply arranged in accessible keys and over a range best suited to the instruments. The melody is played twice with a key change and different accompaniment on the second verse and is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of a little over three minutes, this version of Londonderry Air is perfect for recitals and concert performance. Hava Nagila was originally a Nigun melody thought to have originated in the Ukraine. In 1918 a professor and musicologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, set the tune to words adapted from Psalm 118. Hava Nagila was first performed at celebrations at the end of the Great War and quickly spread throughout the Jewish diaspora. In the fifties and sixties, performances by singers as diverse as Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan popularised the song far beyond its original Jewish audience. Hava Nagila remains one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards today, traditionally performed at Jewish celebrations.Hava Nagila is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. Expressive throughout, the first part of the melody is played above a drone. Simple accompaniment then builds towards a climax before the melody slips away like a distant echo. This tree lines the streets of Buenos Aires which is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Argentinian Tango.This original Tango has two main sections- a passionate and animated section to begin with which clearly states the rhythms associated with the Tango, followed by a contrasting more wistful romantic middle section, which has the Cuban Habanera elements present, from which a Tango is derived. Then the piece returns to the first section taking it to a conclusionJacaranda is in the key of concert C minor with the middle section in C major. The range is around two octaves and I have tried to keep both parts interesting and equal with shared moments of melodic and rhythmic interest. It also has wide dynamic contrasts and heavy accents, along with legato and staccato phrasing, all of which are effectively used in this genre.It is set to Intermediate level- it is 4 mins 40 in length and would make a lovely addition to any programme.The youtube link has the full score so you can assess suitability.
