PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (The Smiths) - accessible piece for FLUTE and GUITARIntended for classical or acoustic guitar, though sometimes it gets listed erroneously under electric guitar.The guitar part is supplied in “Notation only†and “Notation + TABâ€Derek Hasted writes This song burst back into my consciousness when it was played as a Viennese Waltz in the BBC TV program “Strictly Come Dancingâ€.The ponderous, downbeat, original became light, inspiring, uplifting and very beautiful.Here’s the version that was on TV - the same key as the original but slightly shorter.The flute takes the tune, the guitar (with the bottom string tuned to D) takes the accompaniment.It’s ideal for an inexperienced duo - the tune, believe it or not, only uses 5 different notes!The use of 6=D tuning for the guitar dramatically reduces the number of barré chords and makes the guitar part much easier on the left hand.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. LOCAL HERO - WILD THEME - FLUTE and GUITAR DUETSuits Classical, Acoustic or Electric GuitarDerek Hasted writes Rightly described as an astonishingly beautiful piece, this music from the film Local Hero actually features twice on the soundtrack album, in different keys with different solo instruments.My arrangement for flute and classical guitar exploits the sustain of the flute and the soft tones of  nylon strings and works well at a slightly more modest pace compared to the original. I’ve taken the theme from the closing soundtrack version, where the melody is clear and powerful. My arrangement includes one or two little bits of Mark Knopfler’s quasi-improvised variations on the tune. There are no dynamics, but the changing texture of the accompaniment creates the illusion of dynamic changes and you are welcome to add phrasing and dynamics to make the performance “yoursâ€.The guitar part is a little challenging at speed but this will suit confident intermediate players.This enjoyable concert item has a wonderfully captivating melody that the audience will be humming all the way home...I hope you enjoy playing this piece!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Published by DML (A0.1173666). Guinnevere is a song written by David Crosby in 1968. The song is notable for its serene yet pointed melody and its unique lyrics, which compare Queen Guinevere to the object of the singer's affection, referred to as mi'lady. In a Rolling Stone interview, Crosby remarked: That is a very unusual song, it's in a very strange tuning (EBDGAD) with strange time signatures. I have arranged the song in standard tuning as re-tuning your guitar can be very time consuming. In order to do this successfully I have made some changes to the original accompaniment, nothing drastic and the feel of the guitar part is still the same. The version for trio (guitar and two flutes) is taken from the various live performances and has an extended structure compared to the original song. The harmony has a deliberate mediaeval feel to it in keeping with the atmosphere of the song. You could use any two instruments for this, on the recording I made of this arrangement  for the album The Great Music Of Crosby Stills Nash And Young (2021) I used guitars for everything.

FELIZ NAVIDAD (José Feliciano) - FLUTE & GUITAR duetDerek Hasted writes My arrangement of this joyously upbeat Christmas piece follows the key of the original, but arranged for flute and classical (or acoustic) guitar.The standard is just on the easy side of intermediate.The Guitar is tuned down to 6=D and has the 3:3:2 rhythm that gives this piece its real sense of fun. Although the music reaches the fifth position in places, it’s generally in first and second position to give access to a deeper bass-line.A competent flautist can make the final verse more dramatic by taking the music up an octave.
