SAMAN - accessible gentle piece for FLUTE & GUITARIntended for classical guitar, though sometimes it gets listed erroneously under electric guitar.Derek Hasted writes Composed for piano in the key of 3 flats, this gentle piece has a timeless, ethereal sound.There are a handful of arrangements for guitar using a Capo to recreate the original key, but it’s hard to recreate the spacious, effortless sound and pedal sustain of the piano.My flute and guitar duet version places the piece in a different key, where the guitar breathes more easily, and adds a lot of depth to the flute part. The difficult guitar chords and stretches, the awkward sustains - they’ve all gone, and the result is an accessible duet that will delight audiences with its grace and smoothness.The flute part occasionally reaches top E (3 ledger lines up) and it’s important not to be shrill here, as the flute will carry over the guitar at even a modest volume.There are no dynamics, but somehow the piece seems to know how it needs to be played...I hope you enjoy playing this piece!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. ONE LAST WISH (from Casper) - FLUTE & GUITAR duetFor Classical or Acoustic GuitarDerek Hasted writes A haunting melody (pardon the pun!) is interspersed with lush & uplifting phrases and exotic chromatic passages. It’s an unusual and delightful piece that makes a refreshing and unexpected concert item.In the Flute part, the very highest passages are also included an octave lower in an ossia part to make the piece accessible to those with a little less proficiency.In the Guitar part, I’ve fingered some of the more complex chord shapes, mainly as an aide-memoire, because the key signature and the accidentals combine to make some of the chords hard to read - for example there are F major and F# minor arpeggios looking (at first sight) identical on the page. Some of the more complex chromatic movement is actually gloriously straightforward because of the way I’ve arranged the music to use shapes that slide down the neck. WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL - FLUTE and GUITARFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This lovely melody, first made famous by Alison Krauss, and more recently by Ronan Keating, makes a delightful concert piece for flute and guitar.My arrangement is based on Ronan Keating’s version, where the guitar part is a little different to the original. The music doesn’t have the slow fade-out of Keating’s piece - it’s not that easy for a flute and guitar duo on stage to emulate that! But it does have all the rest of the thematic material, including the strange but seldom noticed fact that verse two is one measure shorter than verse one. The key is the same as Keating’s version and includes the rather lovely key changes - both seem to go up slightly in pitch, yet the second key change actually returns back to the starting key.Much of the guitar part can be played in the lower positions where there’s just a little bit more sustain to help support the flute part. Where the guitar part needs sustain across the bar-lines, I have used “ties to nothing†rather than formal ties. Ties generate a lot more black on the page and make the music harder to read. I hope you enjoy performing this!

VICAR OF DIBLEY (Psalm 23) - FLUTE and GUITARFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This delightful setting of the 23rd Psalm (The Lord Is My Shepherd) by Howard Goodall is well-known in the UK and elsewhere as the Theme Tune to the gentle TV comedy The Vicar Of Dibley.My arrangement for flute and guitar is very accessible and straightforward, but still contains all the thematic material of the original. In a nod to the medieval sound that a choir conjures up when singing this modern setting, the guitar part is played with a Capo on the 3rd fret, to mimic the pitch range of the lute and to make the sound lighter and more ethereal. The flute part is played at pitch, so the full score is set in two keys - the capo does all the magic!Dynamics are suggested that mirror the original (with choir, organ and full orchestra) but the guitar fingering and the flute breath points are yours to choose - just make sure you make the performance yours...I hope you enjoy performing this!

Derek Hasted writes "Beethoven it isn?t, but a it?s fun novelty item to play in a school concert or even an informal adult concert.
This arrangement is based on one I wrote for my Guitar Workshop (see www.guitar-workshop.org.uk), and converted to a version for flute and guitar.
The original TV Theme is embarrassingly short, and so my arrangement repeats the entire middle section of the piece to present a performance item that's just long enough to surprise and delight the audience.
The accented notes in the introduction are those played by a rasping trombone in the original. I?ll be honest - neither the flute nor the guitar does a really convincing trombone impersonation, so if those notes don?t work for you, just skip over them!
