DO THAT TO ME ONE MORE TIME - FLUTE and GUITAR DUETFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This fantastic melody deserves more fame than it gets, though when it first came out it was Captain and Tennille’s second No 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.My arrangement captures the three verses that feature in this piece, and also the instrumental break (originally on the lyricon), which has most of the ornamentation, except for the big bends that the lyricon can do electronically. This arrangement is set in the same keys as the original, and modulates from C to G (for the instrumental) and then to D.The accompaniment fits nicely on guitar, and it’s ideal for an intermediate duo. The guitar seldom comes out of first position and uses familiar chord shapes. The flute part has a top G, but it can easily be replaced by another top E if the G is not rock solid. By the same token, some of the repeated notes can be replaced by a sustained note if you feel that makes for a more relaxed articulation.This is one of those pieces that a concert audience will be humming all the way home...I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

DEVIL'S GALOP (Dick Barton Theme Tune) - FLUTE and GUITARFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This evocative tune was the theme music to Dick Barton Special Agent, a radio drama on the BBC many decades ago.The music is full of tension, with rising chromatic chords and long chromatic scale passages creating a constant restless feel.The guitar accompaniment is fingered, as there’s really only one place on the guitar to play the chords. For the tune, add slurs wherever these improve the flow of the music.Here and there, I have deliberately “respelled†some of the accidentals in a way that hopefully improves overall readability, and sometimes the two parts have two representations of the same note at the same time.A version of this was played by the Hampshire Guitar Orchestra who also managed to find time to mop their brows in the occasional pauses in the action. I also have a guitar duet arrangement on sale where the tune and accompaniment roles switch back and forth - find it using my website below.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! A one movement work in two sections, for flute and classical guitar, with score plus separate parts for flute and guitar, and composed by John Pinno in 2009. This piece was originally to be two separate works, but I saw that the two parts would combine nicely. The inspiration for the first part came from listening to a lot of Claude Debussy's Impressionist pieces, and thinking of the more relaxed time of very late evenings, of which I am particularly fond. The second part is a much more energetic section that was inspired by seeing a concert of Los Romeros guitar quartet, and especially seeing and hearing Pepe Romero play. Both will be familiar to many guitarists as they have featured over the years in a number of Graded Examinations.The Flute countermelody is a new addition, which I wrote so that the piece slotted seamlessly into the background music I played with my flute partner at a friend’s wedding.The Tanz is often mistakenly translated as Dance of the Washerwoman, and it’s also known as Wascha Mesa. The Hupfauf is a companion piece, set in a different rhythm but with ostensibly the same harmonic structure (apart from the Tanz’s Coda which is absent from the Hupfauf).Each dance has two beats in the bar, and the two dances can flow into each other or can be played with a short break. When they run into each other, it makes sense to maintain the two-beat pulse, but if this makes the Hupfauf stressful to play, one can maintain instead the value of the half note (minim), so that the Hupfauf proceeds at a more modest pace.The flute part is in the lower register in Tanz, and in the upper register in Hupfauf to add contrast to the pieces. Feel free to add dynamics, a little more articulation and, for the guitar, possibly some tone color changes, as the phrases repeat.

The music is written in standard notation only and presented in guitar and flute scores, guitar accompaniment with extensive suggested fingering, and a pull-out flute solo part with guitar cues. Includes access to an outstanding online audio recording by The Cypress Duo, featuring flutist Amanda Hoke and author/guitarist Justin Hoke. The ability of the flute to hold a long note makes the music come alive and blossom even more.The centre section has a simpler accompaniment than the original to avoid an overly fussy and unsatisfactory sound. Instrumental duo based on an anonymous 15th century macaronic song about a girl who was made pregnant, and then abandoned, by a cleric. The melody is taken by the guitar in with variations in the middle, while the melody instrument has a countermelody, and then, in the final section, the melody instruments provides a few divisions. The sound sample is an electronic preview For interest here are the words of the original song with my translation of the Latin bits: Up I arose in verno tempore [in springtime] and found a maiden sub quadam arbore [under some tree] that did complain in suo pectore [in her bosom] saying I feel puerum movere [the little boy moving] Adieu pleasures antiquo tempore, [in times gone by] full oft with you solebam ludere.
