The theme of each hymn centers around Jesus? love for us as witnessed in his coming to earth to die on the cross. These hymn arrangements are equally suited for the Easter and Lent season as well as other times of year to celebrate our resurrected Savior and King.
All notes for each instrument are playable in the first position making these arrangements an excellent choice for early-intermediate string players. For each song, there is a combined score (grand staff) with all three parts on each page plus separate 1-staff scores for the VIOLIN 1, VIOLIN 2, and CELLO.

This folk tune dates to before the 17th Century. It first appeared in print in 1668 in a book of twelve Provençal noels by Nicolas Saboly. Jeannette and Isabella are two women who find the baby and his mother in a Provençal stable.This arrangement by McIntire is for a string trio, two violins and cello at an intermediate level. It interprets the carol in a classical counterpoint style. A solo sheet is provided for each instrument.

The VIOLIN 2 is featured on the melody for the first verse; the CELLO takes the second verse; then the third and final verse concludes with VIOLIN 1 on the melody. First appearing shortly after the American Civil War, the hymn took over a century to gain in popularity. Pete Seeger revived the hymn in the 1960s, and it has gained in popularity since then. Irish artist Enya recorded it in 1991 in her album, Shepherd Moons. This arrangement is for an INTERMEDIATE STRING ENSEMBLE (two violins and cello). Separate sheets for each instrument are provided. Its haunting and nostalgic melody and harmonies are perfect for performance as a string trio.
