The northern 10 tribes, once faithful to Yahweh were virtually pagan. The prophetic ministries of Elijah and Elisha were used by God to produce a cluster of miracles that had a special purpose in the life of the nation. ♫ Besides the golden calves made by Jeroboam, the Israelites worshiped Ba’al, the supposed god of thunderstorms and fertility. The worship of Ba’al and his consort Asherah became popular, (not surprising since their representations were pornographic and the temples employed prostitutes of both genders and homosexuals for the use of worshippers.) The miracles of Elijah (involving drought and famine, flour, rain, and lightning mark a contest between Ba’al and Yahweh to show who really controls the seasons, the weather and harvests.♫ The movement is made of 4 themes: 1. Ahab – Polytonal (G Mixolydian over F Mixolydian) 2.The Mercy of God (Aeolian Mode) 3. Elijah - Polytonal (G Mixolydian / F Mixolydian) 4. Famine Theme (G Mixolydian over F Mixolydian). The 2 hands of the pianist are playing in different key signatures during most of movement 1.♫ The score shows the parts for violin and piano, but individual parts are provided for the other solo instruments.♫ Includes 14 score choices: Full Score for violin and piano letter size; Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Euphonium (or trombone), Violin, and Cello solo parts; Full Score for violin and piano - small page format for performing from a 10 inch tablet; the same solo parts for 10 inch tablet. These two movements were originally intended for Kleine Suite for violin and piano (ED 7564), but were exchanged for the 'official' second movement published in the suite. Over the course of the reviewing of Zimmermann's early work, many surprising things have come to light again. These two alternative movements are not difficult to play, can be used for many different purposes and expand the repertoire by two unknown pieces by Zimmermann.

Violin Sonata No. 3 “Korean Beauty†Op.289 Sonata No. 3 is a music composed of Korean folk songs, nursery rhymes, and rhythms. The 1st movement was composed in a traditional sonata form with two opposing themes following a short introduction, “Jindo Arirang†and the rhythms of “Semachi†were cited. In the 2nd movement, the lyrical beauty is expressed using the theme of “Arirang,†which is the most representative Korean folk song and is well known worldwide. And for 3rd movement, the Korean nursery rhyme “Eolle Kollery†is cited, which is based on a four-time system, is used to express a humorous atmosphere. For reference, “Eollekoleri†is a language used by children to make fun of others. The last 4th movements are in the rondo form of ABACAD, and between the A and A subjects, three different folk songs, “Miryang Arirangâ€, Cheonan Samgeori(Three-way Intersection), and “Saeya Saeya Palangsaeyaâ€(Blue Bird) are cited, and at the same time, the Korean rhythms “Kutkori†and “Jajinmori†and Semachi were comprehensively cited. Due to the characteristic of the 4th movement in which the theme is used in layers, it was given the nickname “Korean Folk Song Sandwichâ€. This Sonata No. 3 was selected as a designated piece in the first final competition to commemorate the late Kwon Hyuk-ju, and was premiered worldwide by 5 finalists. Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano (2012) was written for violinist Warren Davidson and pianist Donna Amato, superb musicians for whose advocacy on behalf of my music I am very grateful. The first movement, Canto, is an extended song that develops through a variety of textures. The second movement, Lamento, is a fierce lament in the tradition of an old Irish caoine. The thirdmovement, Variazioni, is structured as two presentations of the theme surrounding five free variations. The theme serves both as the basis of the musical material for each variation as well as the structural template. Each variation also contains material referring back specifically to the previous variation. The opening theme is declamatory. The first variation is fast and limber. The second variation is introspective and stratified. The third variation is fleeting. The fourth variation is distant and spare. The fifth variation is fast and driving. The final theme begins whispered and slowly regains its declamatory nature before an intense coda ends the work.

Beginning with an expressive violin theme in a densely packed, 'Brahms-like' piano setting, the classical four-movement work centres around two capricious and playful movements: Lustig, nicht zu schnell is how the second movement begins, a fugal gem working with all kinds of contrapuntal tricks. This is followed by a scherzo-like, wittily flirting Rasch. The finale begins with a melodically simple tune in an almost folksong-like tone which, by a sequence of character variations, builds to a grand gesture which eventually leads back to the initial cantabile – with the sonata coming to a quiet end. A valuable addition to the chamber music repertoire.

Transposed and edited for violin from the viola/piano original. Luise A. Le Beau was a prolific yet overlooked 19th-century female composer. This third movement of her Three Pieces is a spirited polonaise with technical challenges for advancing violinists. These include crisp dotted-rhythm patterns and grace notes, high shifts, rapid cross-string arpeggios, and a short cadenza. Some fingerings have been added to this edition in the process of transposing to the violin. The piano part is even more virtuosic, and takes the lead over the violinist's chordal arpeggios. A good stand-alone recital or encore piece, or can be performed in combination with the first and second movements, Nachtstück (Night Piece) and Träumerei (Dreaming) as a showcase for this under-represented composer.

The spear is said to have extraordinary powers. He who possesses it will rule the world and he who loses it thereafter will die an untimely death. The last person recorded to have had it was Adolf Hitler. This musical composition journeys through the time of Hitler and his obsession to obtain the spear, his atrocious acts during his tenure of the spear, and the loss of the spear. The spears main thematic motions are the glissandos in the violin that represent the spears anger and tortuous ways. I. Spear Found takes place during his times as an understudy of Dietrich Eckart, a dedicated satanist and figure in the Occult Thule Society and founding member of the Nazi party. Dietrich said: Follow Hitler! He will dance, but it is I who have called the tune! I have initiated him into the Secret Doctrine' opened his centres in vision and given him the means to communicate with the Powers. Do not morn for me; I shall have influenced history more than any other German. Hitler became enamored with the Spear of Destiny, which claimed it called to him. Spear Found, is Hitler's journey to capturing the spear to rule the world. II. Spear Possessed begins with no time meter or key signature. It is ad liberty of the performers and is a musical representation of the spears possessive powers towards evil. This movement takes place during the time of the Holocaust and the actions committed during Hitler's reign of world domination. The movement infers a jewish folk song titled, Dayeinu, a jewish Passover song meaning it would have been enough. This song is set in context of freedom. The movement goes through variations of Dayeinu and the spears version of a possessed Dayeinu. The violin has fast and rapid rhythms with small thematic material of the folk tune. At the end of the movement, the piano strikes the low end of the piano with a soft yarn mallet to symbolize the bombs dropping and the start of World War II. III. Spear Lost takes place during WWII and the Marines efforts to take down Hitler's reign. During the 3rd movement, the Marine Corps music comes to life as they take control of the spear and ultimately end the war. The Spear however, takes its last stand as the spears motif soars over the possessed marine tune. At the end of the movement, the spear is once again screeching as it survives and goes missing once again.

Jezebel still has her 400 prophets. She sends a message to Elijah that he will be killed.♫ Elijah is discouraged and defeated. Did Mt Carmel really mean nothing? He runs for the wilderness, complaining to God. He is so disheartened that he asks God to take his life. He makes a pilgrimage to Mt Horeb where Moses received the Law, fasting for 40 days, still complaining. He yearns for God to answer him. As at Mt Carmel, God had demonstrated His power at Sinai with thunderstorm and lightning. Elijah is evidently expecting large dramatic gestures for God to reveal Himself. But now God will teach Elijah that He also acts in ordinary, quiet ways, as will his continued ministry♫ 8 Themes were used to create this movement: 1. Ahab (based on Movement 2, theme 3) 2. Violin Sonata Sonata No.2 “Ong Hye Ya†The first movement is in 3/4 time, and in normal sonata form, there are two contrasting themes. In this movement, there is a contrast between the oriental and western characteristics. The first theme is oriental and the second theme is characterized by a Western character. The second movement is in 4/4 time, and it is composed in ABA format in which the theme of a slow nature is exchanged between instruments. The third movement is in 3/8 time, and the lively and humorous theme A and the slow B theme are written in ABA format. The 4th movement is in the form of a variation in which the theme of “Ong Heaâ€, the nickname of the sonata seen in 4/4/time, is cited. An exciting conversation continues. The colorful arpeggio and colorful bariolage are used to heighten the musical atmosphere. This theme originated in Kungsangdo province, south Korea. The meanning of “Ong Hye Ya†is the sound of peoples harvesting barleys. Excited reaction word of on old Korean mostly used in traditional folk songs to uplift the hard work of harvesting. Dedicated to prof. Siyeon Ryu. Music file is 1st movement only, just for a reference.
